Hi,

i purchase a 2 post lift TLS 10 000lbs flexmetric.

the seller give me 8 carriage slider. i replace 4 slider the top one on each carriage, some was broken

this is normal too still have a free play on the carriage, little from left to right
some milimeter from up to down. the post are not installed they are at horizontal at the ground, just too understand.

or they must be stiff in the post?

Second question, the lift has 12 feet height, does have any risk if i go to a machine shop to make longer extension to have 14-15 feet height?
or course i will need longer cable and hose too
thanks

The two sides of the lift each have half the car as a cantilevered load. The resistance for the cantilevered load is carried by the floor. So the extension of the frame (at the top) has no effect on this at all.

There can be, if the lift locks on one side, a load on the cables, let's say nominally 5000 pounds. So the extension would need to be "strong enough" to hold up 5000 pounds in straight compression without any failure. That should be fairly easy to do.

If you purchased it why not make them replace the broken items?

Yes any modification is a safety hazard and you just ruined any warranty that the lift comes with. These are all Engineered and you just can't start changing things like you want. So ask the lift people maybe they have some kind of option that would help?

I also won't buy any lift that is NOT ALI certified. Is that one?

Yes it is ALI certified, made in toronto i think
i found they have same lift with extended version at 14 feet.

I have replace the carriage slider but with the post at horizontal i can move the carriage about a little less than 1/8 from up to down.

here a pic about what im talking, the gap between the slider dans the main post, it is normal or not the good model of slider i have or i need too replace something else?
