I am in the market for a 2 post lift, hobby use in my home work shop. Thinking in my head, the lift would be raised all the way up to the top locked position (empty, no vehicle) when not in use. Which may be several weeks in between raising and lowering the lift.
I am concerned about cylinder rods rusting if left exposed for long periods of time (say a month or longer). Which makes the pull type cylinder sound as if it would help mitigate this issue because the cylinder rod is retracted in the up position. Or am I over thinking the issue?
Also any experiences good or bad with pull type cylinders? I read the post on a dealers website regarding the number of seals in a push vs pull cylinder.
Would I be ok with a push type cylinder fully raised for weeks at a time?
FYI I am hoping to buy used, so looking at Craigslist, purple wave, ebay and FB market place, should I be looking anywhere else?
Thanks in advance!
