2 post lift dropping

Hello all,
I've noticed that when I have the lift almost down,when the car wheels just touch the ground and when I'm working within the car,I feel it dropping about severals millimetres per every 5 minutes. In fact it does it aswell when the lift is raised up to it's max. Anyone know what could be causing it?

probable hydraulic leaking by in the cylinders or in the valve. Does it shift a little from side to side? or straight down? either way they all have safety locks that every instruction manual says lift up and set down on the safety locks, trust me once your working under a car and have a catastrophic failure of a lift part you never step under without setting it on the locks and shaking the piss out of whatever is on it to check for movement! a 4 inch drop from a broken line takes about .1 seconds, any idea how much brown can get in your shorts in .1 seconds its not pretty!!

It only shifts a little straight down. It's only started doing it. Like you say,that the instruction manual states set down on the safety locks,which I've overlooked
It states

Always insure the safety devices are engaged before any attempt to work on or near vehicle.

Mine is a QJY-B3500 with mechanical locks,when I want to lower it,I pull the wire rope on both sides to delock

Please do set those locks. O rings in the cylinders and that wire cable between the posts are all that is between you as you and you as a pancake.

Of course, use any and all safety mechanisms available to you. But hydraulics sometimes sag a bit under load. A brand new hydraulic elevator at full load is allowed to drop 1/4" over a 15 minute period.

Flex and tilt from pushing down one one side or another, uneven distrust ion of where contact points can affect this. Or is it something else?

Most lift safety guidelines say to put the lift on the safety locks before working under it.

My Mohawk dealer also pointed out that putting the lift on the safeties once it is up helps the seals last longer since they aren't under load all day.
