Why is lift 220v. Lift on my Dump Truck is 12v and it operates hydraulic pump similar to lift. No 220v in garage. trying for options.

Lifts are made to use line voltage because that's what's available. 240V vs 120V allows for lower amperage which means smaller gauge wire. There are lifts that 120V motors are an option.

Adding an outlet would be my first choice.

I would next suggest checking to see if the motor is 110 v capable. It may just require moving some wires or jumpers. You would also have to check if the control electronics need to be modified.

Alternatively, assuming your lift is in the 3-5 hp range, just get a 5000W or so step up transformer. They are less than $200. This is probably the safest and fastest option other than a deficated circuit with the proper voltage, assuming you have the current capacity.
