Hi guys,

I am looking for a 2 post lift for my garage. I would like a clear floor lift and I plan on lifting the following vehicles:

- Porsche 911
- Ford F150 crew cab

Some of my criteria:

- Low profile arms, the 911 jack pads are about 5" from the floor
- Budget around $3k

My ceiling height is 10.5 ft. I have been looking at the Challenger E10, the installer I talked to said that he could lower the columns to fit in my garage by drilling new holes and installing the top part of the column lower on the bottom part of the column (the E10 has two piece columns). He would also need to order a new set of cables, but has done it before and has no concerns. The only downside of the E10 is the 4.5" pad height. The garage floor is sloped towards the door and I am worried that once the lift columns are leveled the rear arm will be too high to fit under the jackpad of the 911.

The Revolution RTP10 appears to meet most of my criteria with a jackpad height of 3 5/8", but I'm not sure if the same trick can be done to lower the column height. I can cut open the ceiling to fit a taller lift if necessary, but would prefer not to.

Any input is greatly appreciated!

I originally wanted a low clearance lift too. My track car has only 3" to the jack pads.
I then upgraded to a 3/4 ton truck and now the priority is a lift that can handle that 7700lbs.
I'm looking at Aatlas lifts sold by Greg Smith and going to order a 10k lift.
I will just use small pads to drive my car onto for additional height when I lift it.
If you are ever considering a heavier truck make sure what you buy for a lift can handle that too.
I have not found a 10k lift that is also has low profile arms.

Have you thought about making four 2x10x12 wooden pads with a slant cut to drive each wheel on to you a little more clearance?

Challenger versymetric setup seems to be a good choice. Matter of fact I just bought a used 9000lbs one today $2100 installed. If you don't mind buying used, check with a local automotive equipment supplier for their used trade-ins.

What ssg57 said.

I just picked up a 9000# challenger for 1k used.

With the 911, boards are your friend. I use 2 2x10s under the front tires and have no problems.

Thanks for the replies guys. Would there be any downside to just going with a Bendpak XPR-9-LP? It has the low profile arms and a 9k pound capacity. Does anyone have one?

I have a xpr-10a-lp and love it. Have had everything from lowered sports cars on it to an expedition. Went with the wide setup for more room between the post and the car door.

You might check your local dealers for used lifts taken out of a dealer service bay. I got a used Mohawk 9000 pound lift installed with a one year warranty for $3000.00 The dealer also gave me the service records since he had installed it originally

I have an Atlas from Gregg Smith equipment.

Like most, I looked for deals and dealer sell offs for several years. Between my time to remove and transport the used lift, I found no way to save money.

I spent $2100 for the exact lift I wanted. I could give 2 shits who made it or where it was made. My personal inspection process was passed just fine.

Trying to by a used lift from a closing garage is just a waste of time. Very few have got lucky going this route. Most times these use lifts sell for 75% of there new value. Those numbers are not what I'm willing to toss my money at.

I ordered my lift on a Monday and it was at the truck docks on Thursday. Picked up the lift Friday and started to put it together on Saturday...I think those are the correct days.

I have a bunch of pictures in my profile if you are curious on my putting it up by myself with no heavy equipment. Click on my profile and start sesrching. Enjoy.
