I’m in the process of reinstalling my lift that I removed from my old shop. I’ll be needing shims I’m sure, any particular kit or place to order from?

This is what I would use in an industrial environment.

https://ludeca.com/products/ss-304-lawton-precut-shims/

For absolute best practice I would non-shrinking machine grout (liquid-y mixture with a form or dam) the bottom of the column for full contact under the baseplate, after the shims are installed.

Then as you load off-center (moment on the column) its borne on the "edge" of the foot rather than somewhere back towards the center (nearest shim) which ultimately places more pullout force on the anchors.

These look good. Any issue with them being plastic? Are they prone to compress and distort?

I was a little concerned about using plastic shims, but seems pretty much all the lift manufacturers that I looked at supplied the same plastic ones. I've heard they use plastic to prevent rust issues but I didn't see this as a concern. My Dad's lift was supplied with the plastic and has had no issues since installing himself 10+ years ago. Columns have always stayed plumb and gets used 2-3 times a week.

If I didn't have any that came with the lift (which they did) I'd get a sheet of .030 or .040 aluminum and make what was needed.

I don’t have any shims the lift was installed back in 2002 by the dealer , I removed it when I moved and am now ready to reinstall it in my new shop. I just wasn’t sure about the plastic shims I was finding when searching.

Well I was able to get both posts up and the top cross bar mounted today , used some tapered wood shims to get both posts plumb so I could tell how thick of shims I’d need. I opened the box that I had put the bolts and small parts in I found about 10 plastic shims from the original install the dealer did. I had completely forgot they were there and that they were plastic, it’s only been 5 years. I’m thinking I may try making some out of aluminum plate , I have several different thicknesses , if I need more shims then I have.
