I'm going to purchase a 2 post lift in the next few weeks and am looking for advice on a non-floor plate unit. I just spoke with a rep from ASE Deals and he said my ceiling height is an issue if I want a BendPak because it is 12 foot on the money. He recommended a Workhorse lift and Greg Smith Equipment recommended an Atlas lift. The largest vehicle I will be lifting is my Chevy 2500HD, which is an extended cab and weighs about 6,200 pounds.

Does anyone have any feedback on either of these models, or any other models that I should consider? Price and where to purchase would also be greatly appreciated.

Last week I had a Bendpak XPR-10ACX installed, and I love it.
Not sure of the exact height, but you could remove the drywall so the posts can tilt up, then put up new drywall.

How big is the garage, what is your ceiling height, and how far away from the walls did you install it?

Today I brought home a 9,000 lb Western Hoist lift for $800. It looks very well made.

I have a XPR-10ACX with 2 ft extension, cost me 3000. Always buy a lift that
is rated higher than what you plan to work on. You will need it. Very satisfied with
my bendpak lift!

I didn't call your hoist junk, but as the saying goes you get what you pay for. Personally, I would not trust my life under an $800 9k lbs hoist. You cannot even buy quality steel to build the lift for that money, let alone a pump, cables, etc.

I don't know anything about the hoist and will not comment on that, but you might want to do some research before committing to that hoist. See if they have any sort of independent testing/certification on your lift, just to make sure it can actually lift and support the stated weight. There are a lot of lift failure video's floating around. If all you are ever going to lift is a 4000 lbs car, you should be ok, but if you ever want to lift a 8000 lbs diesel pickup.....hmmmm.

Just saying.

How much more pricey?

At the time I purchased the Challenger (about 4 yrs ago) it was $3000. One reason I went wiith the Challenger was there is a local distributor in my town and they delivered and installed it for $450.

Bendpak as an example was around $500 to $800 less.

Looks like the BendPak is around $2,800 now and I'll be doing the install myself. Thanks for the info.

Western Hoist is an American, family owned company that has been in business in California for over 80 years. The hoist that I bought was built in '96. It is in good mechanical shape. All the cables and pulleys are good. The cylinders don't leak. The locking system is in good condition and built hell for stout. The hydraulic system and motor are also American made. The arms don't show any sign of ever being over stressed. I'm not worried about it, it's a simple, well built machine I don't understand the "junk" comment. Please back that comment up with some facts or kindly keep your mouth shut.

If you are going to lift a 6200# truck on a hoist you had better be shopping for quality not price. I don't care what the ratings claims are... a vehicle that heavy needs a sturdy lift.

I am leaning towards the BendPak, just have to make sure ceiling height won't be an issue; I'm right at the exact height of the posts.
