Hey guys,

A year or so ago I bought a refurbished lift from a local lift installation/repair company. It is an older Nussbaum. Not sure of the model but I think it's an SPL-7000 from looking at pics on the web.

It has worked flawlessly, until yesterday. I needed to get the arms out of the way for something I was doing in my small shop, so I raised them up unloaded. Now they won't lower. I think this is the first time I've ever raised them without a car on them. I tried hanging on them, I attached a tie down strap to the bumper of my car and tried cranking them down. Neither worked.

This is my first lift. Is this a common problem? Any idea how to get them down? I can call the lift company back out, but I'll have to pay a service fee as there was only a 90-day warranty being it's a used lift.

Definitely not on the locks.

I braced the control lever to the lower position (to open the hydraulic valve), and hung from the arms. The tie down I mentioned above was wrapped around the arms on one end and the bumper of my car on the other. I cranked it till I couldn't any more and it didn't budge. I'm sure that was putting several hundred pounds of pressure on it. It's the kind of tie down you use to tie a car down on a trailer. Heavy duty.
