2 post lift working room

how much room do you have around ur 2 post lift to work on the car as im currently designing my new garage and would just like to know so i can plan where th put every thing

Welcome, in this case I think more is better,but 5 feet frt. and rear and miin 3 to5 on sides.

It will depend on the type of lift you are purchasing. If it is a 2 post Asymmetrical I believe the rule of thumb is about 10' from the back wall. If it is a symmetrical lift then find the center of your space and IMO cheat it to the back by 2-3'.

I spent a bunch of time finding pictures of trucks similar to mine (CCSB F250 Powerstroke) on lifts so that I could lay it out on my space. I ended up being about 2' off center and I have plenty of room to the front and rear. I think Greg Smith actually has a page about layout.

thats ok i was thinking a meter on 1 side and 3 on the other side as that is where my ski will live

then 2meter at the front and at the back i have room to park a car there if need be

Rotary specifies a 12 ft wide x 24 ft deep space. That's tight and won't allow walking around the outside of the columns.

My last shop was 14 ft wide, that worked but it was tight, walking between the columns and the garage side walls wasn't ideal.

My advice: Maintain at least a 3 feet walkway between the columns and adjacent walls, and minimum of 3 feet in front and behind the vehicle... assuming an extended cab full size truck.

I have found that it is often an advantage to not have to much space between the vehicle and workbenches... it save walking back and forth.

thanks all decided to go with a scissor lift now as it will give me more room when not in use
