I've got a " Forword 7000" 2 post lift bought from a Toyota Dealership. The problem is that it is too narrow. It's 10' wide and when I center it for a full size car or Truck you are too close to the upright post. You normally have to put it into neutral and push it forward. That's not too bad but if you lift it a couple feet for a brake job and need to get into the car you can't open the door inough to get in? Anyone have an Idea?

Sounds like a symmetric lift and it's the nature of the beast. The asymmetric lifts have different arms so the vehicle can be postioned to open the doors.

Good description of the above can be found here.

No, it is the normal lift where the posts face each other. Now there is a bridge that connects the two at 12' high. I know that would have to add a section to make up the 24" bridge to be 12' not 10'. The cables might have enough slack for the 2'??

As aka Larry said - that's the nature of the beast. We had those in a lube shop I used to work in, and it was a pain in the *** trying to get in and out without scratching up car doors. Some vehicles were worse than others, simply depending on where each vehicles lift points where, and how that made the doors line up, but usually it wasn't very favorable.

Yeah, It is said that this Lift is the one for Toyota's at dealerships. Even though I going to check the possibility of putting an additional 24" across the top.
