2 post lift

Hi there. I have been needing a lift lately and have been deciding between Worth lifts, and Mohawk. I like Mohawk just because it's a bullet proof lift, but Worth lift because it is all around good lift with a decent price. I just would like to listen to some of your guys advice and tips.

My Atlas 9000OHSC treats me just fine. I have no idea on how well the others work.

Koditton I agree some of thors other lifts are decent, I just to prefer by something that is built stateside.

zkdiesel is agree about that, but Mohawk is running 5900 with me doing the install. Worth lift is a well built lift running 3500 shipped to me.

This is definitely a tuff decision. Thank you guys for your input so far.

What about a USA made rotary? My 12k last week ran $5900 with tax, a 10k is substantially less $$

I have a Mohawk lift so I'm biased toward Mohawk. I thought the price of the Mohawk included the install. When I was quoted the price a few years ago it was. I wound up getting a used one installed by the Mohawk dealer with a warrant for $4k

Whatever lift you choose, make sure it is ALI certified. Nothing like an independent organization confirming the manufacturers claims.

ALI does no independent testing, but rather holds paperwork provided by the manufactures / retailers.

I don't believe they have audit or enforcement powers, but I may be wrong about that

zkdiesel I have 10 foot ceilings in my poll barn that is why. I would consider rotary, but they don't sell any floor plate models.

I am not that well educated when it comes to knowing about ALI and there testing

Everything I read shows that ALI certification is required for OSHA and the certification process requires testing of a lift in an OSHA recognized independent lab( currently intertek testing laboratories) for things like 150% load tests, cable cut tests, and deformation tests. In addition, initial and random factory inspections are completed.

Now I'm curious, can I see some of the references that show no testing is done and that is just a buy in program for lift manufacturers.

Not to mention, for a home shop that the lift isn't used all day long every day - wise to save the $$ to spend on other stuff. My Atlas 9k is fantastic. Installed myself and only spent $1750.

I stand corrected. The tie between OSHA, ANSI, and ALI are a bit blurry to me. I am probably wrong on this but on some sites it is implied that OSHA requires ANSI lift standards and ANSI/ALI is the way to meet the required standard. My Mohawk lift is ALI certified, so at least I feel safe under it. Now watch me drop a car on myself by jinxing myself with that statement

Either way, everything I looked up on ALI certification shows that the lift has to be tested by an OSHA Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL), in accordance with ANSI/UL 201 entitled "American National Standard for Safety for Garage Equipment"

I bought a used Mohawk and installed it my self. Have not used it that much as of yet but I'm loving it. I just had the riding mower on it this summer reaping the steering....a lot better than crawling around on the flood. I vote Mohawk!

If its between those two, and it were me, I'd buy the worth, being they are a proven lift and for the cost. I bought a used Challenger CL10V3. Either way you go, you'll love it. Totally changes the gameplan when working on junk at home. LOL

I had a Mohawk System 1A lift for about 3 years and loved owning it.

I did mount it 6" further apart to accommodate the German uni-bodies I worked on.

Unfortunately when I sold my old house, the new buyer wanted it and the new place where we purchased didn't have the dimensions needed for one (walls were to close). I now have a scissor lift not quite the same as a 2 post, but it solves the current problem.

Thank you guys for the tips and advice.
I am kind of leaning towards the worth lift, but still have my heart stuck on Mohawk. Defiantly some food for thought.
Any more advise is welcomed.

I have a used Mohawk 9000lb. Paid 3500.00 installed by a Mohawk dealer.He also included a 1yr warranty. Best buy I ever made. One of the best things is EVERYTHING on it is made in the USA. Great lift and as safe as they come.

Nope. Mine was not a refurb or CL. Just a good ole used challenger. I lucked out. Im good buddies with a shop equipment dealer/rep. I got a real good deal. Mine is used, but works like a champ. If I ever need parts, no need to jump hoops with customer service, blah blah, just go to my buddies shop...seems like alot of people on here "know or are buddies" with someone who's trade in life helped them with their shop build. Well this one is mine

After some looking I bought mine through the local lift dealer who buys them at auctions and resells them. I had an in with him through a relative and when he got a used Mohawk lift It was mine. Mine was not that old and came out of a Saturn dealer when they all went out of business.

The other thing was that car dealers were closing left and right about 5 years ago and rotary lifts could be had for less than a grand when they were auctioning everything off at a big dealership with a bunch of lifts.

Here is a 2015 crewcab dually Duramax on my 9K floorplate Worth.
Definitely one of the heaviest/expensive trucks I've had on it.
