I recently purchased a Bendpak xl9 used from a local muffler shop. When I went to look at it the owner lifted up a dodge dynasty so I could see its operation. I gave him $800 and loaded it on my trailer. 2 weeks later(today)I reinstall it in my garage and the cylinder furthest from the pump doesn't seem to be extending like the pump side. I did add some fluid because of some leakage during disassembly. I loosened the hose fitting on the far side to bleed out any air and I'm not sure if it helped any. My shed is currently not heated and its about 20 degrees out, not sure if that matters. This is my first lift and when I seen it at the shop lifting the car I wouldn't know if it was working right or not. Any help would be great.

I don't know much about BP, but pretty much all 2 post lifts have equalizer cables to ensure that the rams lift and lower in tandem. After I assembled mine, I had to adjust the cables around and inch to make the arms lift/lower equally.

I did bleed mine a bit on the excessive side to ensure that as much air was removed from the hydraulic system as well. Its a pretty long trip from the pump to the far ram. There will be quite a bit of air to remove, thus add a fair amount of oil as well.

Did you bleed the cylinders using the bleed screw on top of the cylinders?

Edit: I see the lift is a floor plate style. I'm not sure there are bleed screws at the top of cylinders. I was thinking the clear floor style with overhead cables.

did you use bendpaks instructions to aid in your installation of the balance/equalizer cables? they keep the cylinders even heights when using the lift.

mine took some bleeding and a good amount of ups and downs before it was good.

I would go to Bendpak's website, download the install instructions for the lift closest to your model and walk through them to see what you can find.

As the others have said, most likely you got air in the system. If you had the hydraulic hoses disconnected, you have to bleed all that air back out before it will lift properly.
