Always looking for Garage Lift clearances from Lift to Wall .
Here is the skinny !
My worksop is a 50 x 30 x 16 foot Prefab Steel Building.
I have my 9,000 lb. 2 Post Rotary Asymmetrical Lift in 1/4 of the available space for a work bay, approx. 15 x 25 feet with a 10 x 10 foot OHD.
I did a load test today with my 2004 Dodge Ram Cummins Turbo-Diesel , Quad Cab , SRW , has a 8 foot box. So about as big as you can get but not a Mega Cab.
Then took these measurements:
From the CL of the lift post to the rear bumper is 15'-0".
From the CL of the lift post to the front bumper is 6'-6".
That leaves 18" of clearance from the rear bumper to my OHD.
And leaves 18" of clearance from the front bumper to the CL of the shop.
I have positioned the Lift Post 2'-6" from the wall ( to allow walking access ).
So, when you layout your shop use these a guide ;you never know when a larger vehicle shows up in the driveway !
