After 2 years of waiting for an inexpensive Wilton Bullet, I picked this 4" up for $40! No need for these little Wiltons anymore, guess I can finally drill some holes in my bench and get this mounted!

Nice. It goes without saying that that's a great deal. But that's also a really good looking Wilton.

That box hasn't gotten any attention yet, but here it is:

Here are my main stacks. The one on the right is unrestored, the one on the left got quite a bit of elbow grease and paint...

You are my hero

I love those boxes, I have the same top box. The bottom right box popped up on cl last week, but I can't spare the cash right now. I tried getting a box like the bottom left (much more used/abused though) from one of our buildings that is closing, but the manager said they are taking it with them. My hunt will continue.

Like the Wilton. I have a top box like the one you have also. Almost painted it 10 yrs ago , But never got around to it. Glad I'm a slacker and won't paint it now. Enjoy your Wilton.

A friend at work brought me this today to go with it!

I ordered some Verde Green, and when it comes in, he is going to restore both of them for me as a wedding gift! Now if I can just convince the fiance that an 800S is needed to round out the package...

Awesome! I'm a big fan of those Cman boxes, too. I love that era. I've got a NOS stack (w/ mid box) that still hasn't had tools in it.

I dug 3-count em-3, huge new Yost 32C's out of a Navy dumpster 25 years ago..Gave two away and tripped over remaining one for 23 years until I finally mounted it and discovered it still sold new for almost $700.

I'll post a pic in a minute of my last remaining big Yost dumpster vise....God, I sure could use those other two now:)

Dug 3 of these huge bit@hes out of Navy dumpster 25 years ago...Kept this one and use it everyday....Can't hurt it...tried to hurt it.

Excuse the messy workbench, I use it mostly for grinding...built that old bench out of laminated 2X4's 30 years ago with 6X6 legs...added casters finally last year :)

The workbench top is made up of clear 2X4's bolted together every 12" with 5/8's all thread...It can hold a truck :)

Man, it's crazy how y'all get all giddy-up about old school vises.

I wanted a bullet Wilton, too, but given up on it.

TMcCay,

I too looked for about a year for a good Wilton Bullet Vise. I put an ad in craigslist under 'Wanted' and received many calls. I bought a Wilton with 5" jaws, don't know the model number yet, but I believe it may be a 500N. Paid $110 for it in good shape. The smaller Wilton Bullet is a 450N, which I purchased 13 months ago for $50 on craigslist.

I never understood the whole "vise" thing either until I joined this site..$@#! you guys! Nice restoration too.
Don't feel lonely....Huge solid vises were always something I took for granted growing up...Dad had one and so did every mechanic friend/kinfolk we knew...It was just something they beat on.

Then as a kid I joined theNavy and once again they were everwhere I looked, so I never really needed one at home.

30 years later WHEN I decided I wanted another to match my old NAVY vise I discoved what one cost new and almost chit.....NO WAY would I ever pay that new, but you can believe I statred looking for garage sale/divorce deals for big American old vises....I now always will, even if I give my find to a friend who can appreciate it.
