I am looking at framing nailers (my old box store Porter Cable is dying). The Bosch says it's a 20 degree strip nailer (plastic collated) but only see 21 degree nails available. Hitachi says 21 degree.

Is this all just round off of the number or is the difference real?

In some research reading I see references to 22 degrees also and 20-22 degree. A little confusing to someone not dealing with this every day.

Second question- what is the difference between Hitachi A2 and A3 models? Specs appear identical but close to $100 price difference. Description on website shows the A2 at 7.9 pounds and A3 at 8.8 but the manual for each shows same weight so what's the difference? I do understand the (S) version has no depth adjustment.

Thanks in advance

Can't help you with current models but years ago nail gun manufactures used different degree angles to insure that you had to buy unique nails from them. Along came generic nails that worked in a range of degrees mostly buy manipulating the nail head shape.

I know about old nailers, my Senco nailers still work well but just about every part is NLA.

I have a 20 degree nailer and use 21/degree nails. It's minute. I haven't had an issue before

I've used an old Hitachi NR83 for many years. I've run different makes of nails through it. It likes all makes of nails and I've never had a problem.

I use the Hitachi in my Bosch also. No problems at all. Buy some and have at it.

That looks an awful lot like the shed my son is building me.

I see the NR83 has several sub-models primarily the A2 and A3 both come with and without depth adjustments.

I am opting for the A3 but hard pressed to know what the differences are. Some contradictory info on weight and that seems to indicate housing material or something else is different. And nearly $100 in cost? Any insight? Don't mind paying extra for a better quality or performance but I need to know what it is?

Thanks
