Hey guys Im trying to put an AC/HEAT window unit in my garage. I've installed everything and my the unit won't work right.

So my question is I know im suppose to use 12-2 wire but for a crazy strange reason I used 10-2 wire could that be causing the problem?

....Mine's a basic "plug-in" model. Does yours require opening it up to hardwire the electrical, like a dryer maybe?.......If so, that might be a place to do some double checking.

Yeah, can you be more specific about that "the unit won't work right"

you can have 220v 20amp and 110v 20amp, if you hook a 110v 20amp unit to a 220v 20amp receptacle, that could be the reason it won't work right.

as far as the 10-2, way over kill for this application, unless of course you are running the unit 250' away from the electrical panel....not to mention the cost of 10-2 is WAY more expensive than 12-2.

now, you will have a unit not work right if you plug a 220v 20amp unit into a 110v 20amp receptacle....IT IS VERY IMPORTANT that you hook the unit up to the correct power.
