Bought this off a Snap-on truck 40 years ago but has very low hours (guess would be 200 or less) and still starts right up and seems to run fine. Its been unused at a friend's garage for about past seven years. Last time I turned it on about a year ago thought it had rusted out and developed leak in bottom of tank. Picked it up last weekend and started dismantling it to toss tank in recycle pile but was surprised to see tank appeared fine on bottom so tossed it in back of my truck for further inspection before throwing it out. Now that its apart just wondering if it's actually worth restoring.
Does anybody know anything about these compressors or if they are any good? Didn't see a manufacturer on pump does anyone recognize what it might be? Seems to be 2 cylinder cast iron but that's just a guess.
Motor is 2HP cont rating and can be wired either 120v or 220v. I had it wired for 120v since it came off truck.
So the tank seems to have lost its foot and I believe that could be source of leak I was hearing a year ago. IF tank isn't rusted out but has small leak from a welded foot being torn off, can that be repaired? I know standard answer is no but assuming that is where tank has deteriorated from rust. I still need to check just trying to see what my options are. Can a GOOD tank be tack welded to reattach a foot IF it is then hydro pressure tested at 150% of working pressure?
New ASME tank is available on Summit for $320 if tank cannot be repaired. Is this even worth the effort?
