"Some tools" and participating stores in the fine print.

After a quick look at prices at the Carlyle 3/8" roto-ratchet (R38S100), I think they jacked the price up. a few weeks ago it was $56.35, a few months ago it was $81.00, today it's $64.99. Is it the old mark it up and then discount it some trick?

Update:

Had a socket to pickup at NAPA so I asked about the price increase. They said that their tools were on sale a couple weeks ago hence the lower price and they said they have the tool sale about once a year.

Is it just me, or is NAPA's website a pain to navigate? I tried finding something in it a few days ago and gave up!

It's not any worse than the other auto parts stores, in my experience.

What were you trying to find?

Individual impact sockets. Looking to find fillers for my socket trays. I found a couple in their store near me, so thought I'd check their site for others. Seems their site wants too much info from me (zip code, preferred store, etc.) each time I entered a new item. Maybe it's just me and I got annoyed too quickly.

The local Napa has a tool sale twice a year--april and november. The tool sale prices last for a couple of weeks. The prices at sale time are better than my gold customer discount.

Since napas are individually owned results will vary

Ask the store if the pricing is yellow, green, or blue sheet. There's different levels of pricing available on many items depending upon your type of business. Yellow is retail, green is jobber, and blue is cost. Or that is what it was back in the early 90's. They may not offer you the lower pricing, but if you're a regular customer or are buying a lot, it gives them a little wiggle room to make you a deal.

The tools tend to be the same price across all the sheets except cost though. YMMV.
