I would bet it is a promotion Sunex is forwarding to Amazon, so they most likely deliberately did it following the rebates.

Cool, I just ordered their 2646, it's a pretty damn comprehensive set of metric deep 1/2" running 10mm thru 36mm with very few skips and not until the high 20's/low 30's mm.

I looked at some of their combo fractional/metric kits for less $$, but a lot of skips, esp on the metric side.

edit: no skips until the 30's

If you ever order any Sunex socket set check that you actually have all the sizes listed.
I had a hell of a time returning 3 2645 sets through 2 different vendors, there was always a size that was missing and a double of another size in its place.
I have other Sunex sets and they are very nice quality with no complaints.
I still want a complete 2645 so I might try again.
I'm definitely not saying that someone shouldn't buy them, just check them immediately when received to make sure it is complete.

Just got 3 sets with the $100 rebate deal and everything was correct.

Hmmmm. Should I get the quarter inch impact set to complete my collection? (I ordered the 3 sets from the previous deal that was the 3/8 master set and 1/2 standard and 1/2 metric).

I got those 3 before as well. I just picked up the metric set with some of the missing 20s and the sockets above 30 that weren't in the other metric set. It ended up being $55 so that seems pretty decent.

Hmmm do I want the 1/4" also. I have a craftsman set but it's not as complete as this for sure.

Why would you need 1/4" impacts? The 3/8" set gets small enough. Do you really need a 4-6mm impact socket? You could use a regular socket for those.

Do most people really need the majority of the items they pick up because of this site?

That 1/4" Master set is indeed tempting. I've been trying to find a socket set that had deeps and shallow including 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5 metric and this is the only one I've seen yet.

The 1848 (48 pc 1/4" set) seems to be a pretty good price at $69.99 before the 20% off. Why is the 1874 (74 pc 1/4" set) $266.56? Seems kind of high considering the 3/8" master set is a good bit cheaper, includes more sockets and the sockets it includes are larger. Also it's not even double the number of sockets of the 48 pc set, but it's almost 4 times as expensive. :headscrat

Probably due to the fact that there are around 20 universal impact sockets in the 1874 set.

No, lol. A 1/4 impact set is a very specialized tool for a specialized need. While this is a simplistic view, most 1/4 sized bolts/nuts have such low torque specs and even if seized, there is general a small amount of surface contact area for a socket that you are not going to reach the limit if a normal 1/4 socket made of metal.

In the automotive repair industry, not very common. I would expect the industrial folks use them far more often.

10/31 is the last day for this sale. I wonder if there will be another special after this one since it came on the heels of the rebate.
