Well I spontaneously bought a 20" planer. Years ago I bought a 24" powermatic that sits in storage waiting to be restored. Well I have a project coming up that the lunchbox can't do, s
So while I was on market place I purchased this twianese straight blade 20" planer for $800.00. the seller didn't have 3phase so it's untested. I'm not sure if I over paid or not, but I needed it. Seller went through it, cleaned everything, lubed, new belts and painted it. His entent was to use it but he doesn't have 3phase and a motor replacement was a too expensive option. Anyways it's Rebranded by KBC tool here in Michigan. I believe it's a rebranded general international 30 325m1 20. Is there anyone familiar with this planer?, any setup tips before I run it? Should the gears on the side be dry lubed? Thanks.

Nice find. I see it has the segmented chip breaker, does it have the segmented infeed roll as well?

It should be similar to the current Pm201 or the old bridgewood 508

I finally fabricated a mount for the VFD and got the planer up and running. Waiting to get the blades back from sharpening. I do hear a slight tin noise I may have to replace a bearing on the cutter head. I'll do some investigating tomorrow.

I hope it all goes well. That should dress some wide boards.

I was at my shop I use for blade sharpening, to get some blades for a Delta Rockwell 14" bandsaw, and saw these blades. Who knows what they would be used for? Fifty-five inches.

You didn’t ask? Leave a note for the blades’ owner that you’d like to see his toy? Come on man, don’t leave us hanging.

Something like this?

And they make an 88

Slight chance it’s a paper cutter, which wouldn’t be nearly as exciting.

Very high chance it's a paper cutter. Those are not buss (or any other) planer knives.

That was my fear. All the paper cutter blades I’ve seen out of a machine have been boxed up like that. Guess covering the edge with masking tape for transit doesn’t work when they are that big and heavy.

Finally got the planer throwing chips, tried some pine, red/white oak and it does a pretty good job. I attached a pic of the pine board to show finish.

You should see the blades they use for Zambonis. I brushed my finger across one once and realized just how sharp it was to shave the ice.
