20 ton floor press

[I can fix anything]

I'm looking for a USA made 20 ton floor press. The $4000 snap on is too much for one that won't get used much. What others are out there?

Does Duralast make One? LOL... Couldnt Resist... I agree 4K is a bit much for a Snap on Press. That is why you need to buy them for $120 bucks, Like Me.

I believe HW is still selling Presses but they are Just as Pricey.. Here is a USA branded Frame and what i expect is a Import Jack. I guess it just depends on how much you are gonna use it. I would expect that you would have run in to many sitsuation where you needed a press running a Repair Shop.

Dake is another big name in Press's.

Find a used one. Thats what I did. Bought a used 25 ton Dake off of Ebay. Drove over 1800 miles to get it, but I paid $192 for the press, and gas in the Ranger to go get it, and one night in a motel. Still a bargain, that Dake new was about $3750 at the time.

Practically every used equipment dealer has one, and I suspect that some of them will be selling reasonable with the economy the way it is.

I found a 50 ton Dake at an equipment auction this summer. It had a few issues but for 400$ I couldnt leave it there. 20 bucks worth of fittings and a gallon of oil and it was ready for its second life in my garage.

That Arcan in Hiball's link is the exact SAME one that I bought off of CL for $175.

And yes, it's a USA marked frame with a Chinese jack.

I wonder if you can get a Made in England CAM Equipment press. I have one at work, 20-ton, and it's good. They're sold here also branded Blue-Point, and run about £750 so if you can get them there they shouldn't be expensive.

not sure weather these are availbul in the usa but there aussie made. come with all adaptors and tools.
the bit i really like is how it holds fwd spindles from the top on adjustuabul threads for easy hub bearing changes.
if i start up my own shop i'll be buying one.
but for now i got an old 30ton servex press witch is another aussie made item

I know, its in California, should be a nice drive, might just watch it and see what it goes for.

This is a good press also, decent price, appears to be missing the pump but it uses a standard enerpac pump and hose.

You gotta go to the used ones, usually in California, the upper midwest (Michigian, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois), or the north east, especially NJ. Rarely found in the south.

I am really looking for a large H frame press as I have some large pieces to fit into a press at times. The enerpac is more than adequate for most auto repair shops and they work EXTREMELY well, I also have access to a huge 60 ton H frame press if the little one fails.

Thats a tough find, Im one who goes out of my way to find U.S.A. made products if your not using it allot you might want to find a local shop that will help you out. Key is get to know them before you need them. Watch for repair shop autions or dealerships most mechanics at dealerships are over paid parts installers now days and rarely rebuild anything I do apoligize to the few who aren't afraid to spend ten minuites to gut an assembly and replace just the twenty five cent O ring and save me from buying an expensive part. So get with the owner of the dealership. Most tool guys buy used equipment A motivated tool guy will know somone who might have one help you out. Last resort and I'm not crazy abbout buying imported toos but Harbor freight has presses not too pricey but consider how often your going to use it.

The OTC and small Dake (smaller than the 25H) are also foreign made, but are of very high quality and worth good money, unlike the sorry bottle jack presses.

I bought a 40 ton Arcan about 10 years ago. Still have it. Boy, it really pains me to say this, but I was very disapointed with the frame - which is the Made In USA part. They did a **** job of aligning the peices before welding it together. Stuff didn't really fit together very well. Some parts were cut with a band saw and painted with zero deburring leaving nice sharp edges. The stupid table sat on 3 of its 4 support points and kind of teatered back and forth.

The jack, on the other hand, has not given me any problems. That is the Made In China part.

I was pretty upset because I went way out of my way to buy American.

We have some small Dake presses at work and they are very nice.

unfortunately a drive is not possible. My F-450 gets feet per gallon, and I work 7 days a week.
