Cool garage build! I tried to do this when I rebuilt my garage this year but materials didn't surface as fast as I would have liked.

This build has been on going for 4 years now. I also have 3 kids and that dictates the pace to a degree. I have myself waiting until I had time while material was sitting for months at a time. And I very rarely worked on it after the first snow until the spring. And lastly money dictated it. I only borrowed $5000. I don't want the debt. My first kid enters college in 8 years and after that I will have a kid in college for 11 years and 1 of those years I will have 2 at the same time. My choices now will have a ripple affect. I rather pay the price now than later.

Tonight was a first for me. I got to start some font end work of the family truckster on a Friday night. And because I had a seized rotor I left it over night to soak with some liquid wrench. Before the garage I would not start this until Saturday or Sunday morning

Scored these networked controlled PDU's. I will hook up lights to them when I get to that phase. Is it really necessary to be able to turn lights on in my shop from my house or any where around the world were there is internet access and remote vpn access to home network. No. So why. This place looks like something imagined from a cartoon. The use of 'as available' materials mixed with a high quality of work is lovely to see. I look forward to where this goes and find it inspiring that you've built this all on your own with various cheap or even free 'finds'.

Thanks OrneryDuck. I appreciate the compliment it hard sometimes to look pass my mistakes that I see in this build.

Its amazing what happens when we decide we want something and won't take no for an answer and how our minds just figures it out every time we hit a road block. I think it is pretty cool.

about 2 weeks ago a fix a broken chair in my shop. which was pretty cool to have a shop I can do it in.
long story short I was the one who broke the chair which happens to be my wife's chair. It's nothing special. Its an Ikea chair. I have been known to break a chair or 2,3,4,5,6. Originally I thought it was all me. But after I got the chair in the shop in realized the bolts where not tight (I was not the one who put the chair together).

I ran into a bit of a problem. I need my concrete nail gun that I bought about 10 years ago and have not used in probably 8 years. It is either in this mess in my shed. This shed is clean compare to the way it was before the shop.

So the goal is to build a workbench/shelf to store this stuff in my shed in a neat and orderly fashion. While searching for the nail gun.
Because I am not going to buy another concrete nail gun. I found one on craigslist for 5 bucks. But I really do not want to buy another one. Don't get me wrong I like tools and I want more.

Hi All,
It has been a very busy 2 weeks. I was able to finish the workbench/shelf to go into my shed and search through everything for my concrete nail gun and still did not find it.
Here is the after pics of the shed after a moved alot of stuff out of the garage and back into the shed

I love all the fuel cans I purchased over the years because I could not find them in the shed.
Can anyone relate not being able to find something that you should be able to see easy inside a 10 x 10 shed?

About 2 months ago my uncle stop by and I mentioned that I am going to cut a tree down that is right behind my house and it is over my house and deck. He asked me if I could manage that and I said I will find out. He said he knows someone that would take care of it cheap and If I wanted them to take care of it. I said yes.

Taken it down works out for me because it is right in the path of where I want to put a paved driveway.

About 2 weeks ago my father asked me if I heard from my uncle about the tree and I said no I am not worry about it when I am ready I will cut it down my self. That Saturday my uncle and the tree guy was at my house. My wife was happy we had someone who knew what they were doing.

O the man who cut down the tree is 79

I guess everyone else was worried about it.

Yes the price was perfect. Were I live in New York construction generally pretty pricey because everyone thinks that everyone who lives here is rich

Finished framing another wall. This was about a days worth of work split across several days.

It feels good to have gotten this far. I will be able to get the insulation up and off those two 6ft tables. I will then have to figure out how to source more insulation for the ceiling and then some covering. For the ceiling I want something that is easy for one person to put up and not to far from free ( what the hell I want it to be free).

Next step will be building a more semi permanent work bench and tear down the current one.
