OK, I guess. But I'd be much happier if they were all 6 point and covered more sizes. No need, in my book, for any of the twelvers.

Totally understand...just figured I would toss it up if someone was looking. Does not seem to be much filler, and quite frankly I purchased a smaller cheaper set similar for my kids because I did not want them using my tools, but also wanted to encourage their desire to figure out how things work.

12 point sockets work great on 12 point bolts. If you don’t encounter those, you don’t need 12 point sockets, but if you do, you need them. Head bolts, rod bolts and other bolts on my BMWs are 12 point. Others are female torx head and some are make torx head. I need those sockets, too, but many of you probably don’t.

Man, y'all complain too much. I picked up that set a few months back for the same price and keep it in my truck for oddballs I'd need at work or home. Killer set with no skips.

Sawed the 12pt 32mm in half for Deutz crank bolt access in Gehl skid steers, and on Tues used the 1/2" drive 12pt deep 3/8" for 12pt injection pump gear bolts on a Deere 6076a, so yeah 12 points have their place.

I have that set. full 6pt deep/shallow 1/4 and 3/8 plus 12pt shallow 1/4 and 3/8 and a full set of 12pt deep/shallow 1/2. I figure my 1/2 impact sockets are 6pt so i can have all the options. it is really not a bad set at $.50/socket. it is basically all you could need socket wise as far as I can tell.

The store is located at Grand River and I-96. They were near the floor in the front of the store by the toolboxes, not by the hand tools.

None in my local store, but thanks for posting. I would have snagged that for sure.

I saw these at my local store last week. Passed them up because I have way too many as is.

Although, if I see they are still there next time I go, I might pick one up for my truck box...

They were on sale for $119 when I bought. Later saw them on clearance in my local store for $89. That was maybe a week ago.

So basically, one has to be in a particular store in order to get that discounted deal?

I see it listed as $199 online.

This was part of homedepot's "spring black friday" sale in june 2019. during that sale it was $99 and was also available online for that price. After the sale a lot of the unsold sets got put in weird places or in the overhead and forgotten until they started hitting the clearance reports. this is homedepot deal hunting 101. go through sale adds for stuff that is not normally stocked on shelves. wait a month or 2 after sale ends and go hunting. because they don't have a standard shelf location often after sales the leftover stuff gets put where ever it can fit. often this is the overhead. and then they are out of sight and mind until the go clearance and get flagged for the supervisors to locate them so they get sold b4 they get too cheap. many a supervisor is not good at this or does not care/have enough time to hunt so if you go a looking that is how you find the snazzy deals.

So in short. save the old adds and then use them for clearance shopping lists after 2-4 months.

where have you been bargain hunting ? yes, 99% of HD deals are in-store

I’m still aspiring to be the bargain hunting king. I’m just stuck in the apprentice phase.

Sounds like I need to do some hiking up and down the aisles, and look up! Thanks for the tip mayo!

Hi @whitemamba

One less in Seattle! I just picked one up! Thanks for the heads up.
Heavy little box :)

PS: I just want to say the folks at Home Depot are always nice and helpful to me. I didn't even have to look, I just asked where they were.

If they're on clearance, will it show on the website as ship to store only? Or will it actually show inventory in the store?

Checked stores near me that were at $75.06 and they all jacked the price back up to $99!

Clerks couldn't locate them where the stocking software said they were. As I went to exit, at the front of the store, next-to and in-front of the checkout lanes were Husky tool displays, toolboxes, benchtop tools, toolsets, and, yes, a pallet of the 200 pc. sockets.

I picked-up a set about 2 weeks-ago.
