A few years ago a propane co. here was going out of business and offered to sell me a old 2000 gal propane tank mounted on the truck. They said it was too old to be recertified. I think it was built in 1974. I was wanting it to make a septic pumper tank to mount on my truck. They only wanted $500. Every one talked me out of it. I should have got it. Now I am in the market for one now. I have called every propane co. I know of. Any one have any leads. I want the one that had the dished ends, not the round or domed ends. I know it will weigh probably 1000 lbs more than a septic pumper tank. But a 2000 gal septic pumper tank is over $4000.

Don't know where one is, but around here the price of PROPAIN is now $5.00 a gallon and rising!! Some I have heard are paying over $6
It is crazy. I know I wouldn't want to fill a 2000 gallon tank!

If you read his post, he's not using it for propane, he wants to make a septic pumper out of it.

Have you looked on Govdeals.com ?

If this is a commercial venture, check state regs first! In NH the regs require a double wall tank for a septic pumper (why, I don't know...) and I believe all propane tanks are single wall.

I would check CL but also call around to the propane places. I know several around here listing old tanks on CL cheap... I guess they can only be certified for so long then they become scrap.

I have never seen a double wall septic pumper tank. I have never even seen any of the pumper tank mfg's list one. You are not thinking about double baffles are you?
