I have a few questions, I'm building a 32 X 24 3 car detached garage in Maryland. First question, does code require that I have both a standard door (32 or 36 inches) and a window? Or does it just require that I just have a door? If it does require both a door and a window can they be on the same wall? One last question, does the window have to be a certain size and at a certain height?

TIA,

Anthony

Sorry, I should have said in the original post that it's a detached garage.

2003 IRC Section 309 Carports and Garages does not make any requirements for windows. You will need a man door in addition to an overhead door (or other vehicle door) as the vehicle door is not considered a means of egress. Section 309 mainly deals with separation issues between an attached garage and the rest of the house.

Your local zoning requirements may set regulations for aesthetics and other conditions that may require you to have certain standards for doors and windows.
