2005 f250 regular cab headache rack build

Hey y'all. I'm new as in registered new but I have been stalking the threads thru Google. I'm building a headache rack for my 2005 f250 regular cab long bed and want to see some ideas. I'm planning on have angle iron running the length of the bed for a rack add-on in the future with a rail for multiple tie-down spots. And i want to have running/brake/turn signal/reverse lights incorporated in the rack. Thanks for the advice

Ask and you shall receive. Built for my 2014 Ram 2500. There is also a tonneau cover I built for it. Haven’t finished it yet, he’ll I haven’t touched it in almost a year. First kid was born last August and we built a new shop, maybe I’ll finish it by Christmas.

I'm wiring up some reverse lights on a Toyota I'm working on. I am using a dual position rocker switch so the reverse light can be independently activated, or flipped the other direction it fires up when the truck is put in reverse. Same principle for the front lights and the high beam as a second means of activating the lights.

We used to run full length angle iron bed caps on our work trucks and they would split the front bed corners out since they weren't allowed to flex as they were designed. We now only run the support to the back of the cross box and the truck bed lasts longer.

Only thing I can offer is how I fasten mine. 2 bolts on each side attach to box rail so quick and easy removal. I just cleaned mine up this week. Have a front and rear rack

Cool. Thanks. Was planning to run the angle the full length of the bed but if it splits then I'll change and probably on do the front half for now.

I actually copied yours (if you dont mind) before I posted. How did the bed survive with the full length rails? Did you build the flatbed or buy one?

Are those brackets for lights on the top rail?
