You are very wise. I was looking at a Kennedy for $125 and the Waterloo one appeared for $75 which looks like the same box. here is the picture of the Kennedy maybe some other member bought.

Well today is my birthday so I went to a few of my favorite pawn shops, nothing!!! I went to a pawn shop that is known for high prices. They have several tool boxes in the back so I asked the guy to bring one out and let me dig through it. He said sure.
He brings out a no name box and I open it up and dug around. I found a pair of duck bill pliers and this little pin vise. Both covered with light rust and crud. $2 brought them home. There are no names on either one. The pin vise as you can see is very small and very well made and in very good condition.

That Waterloo box looks like a Kennedy, interesting.

Eh, looks can be deceiving. Drivesitfar can you post a picture of the drawer slides? The waterloo ones I've seen are not as well built as the kennedys. Strange enough, craftsman used both kennedy and waterloo to manufacture their machinist boxes back in the day. :headscrat

Picked up this little guy for one whole dollar at the pawn shop earlier today. Some kind of multi-tool wrench. Each end has two different wrench sizes as well

Glad to see this thread started for 2014. I hope I will be able to find a few goodies worth posting this year. And, I hope I'll have the time it takes to do some of that posting!

Interesting wrench, tellingthem. Is that the International Harvester logo on it? A lot of those multi-wrenches were supplied with tractors and other farm implements way back when. I came across the website of an organization dedicated to collecting them, and the variety is absolutely dizzying!

Here's my new year addition. It's funny how you go from zero to multiple pieces of equipment.
I was fabbing some aluminum the last week was thinking it would be nice to have a vertical bandsaw along my horizontal saw. Well, I found the Craftsman on a local online auction for $ 51.00. It's looks like it is great shape, will pick up tomorrow.

Damn the email notifications of another online auction, ending soon it said.. Hell if one saw was good, two saws makes it nice, what does a third,400 lb. saw do?

Bought this Powermatic 143 for $ 168.00 from a school board. Missing the table though, I'll hope to find one, which may be tough. End up building or modifying one to use. It likely is three phase motor, but for what I paid, I can spend some money on it.

Looks like another frame with casters will be needed.

It looks like it. And that's my guess as well. Haha seriously I looked for hours last night and must have seen a thousand of these kinds of wrenches but just not this one.

Bought this Buckeye pneumatic drill for $12 because of its unique look. Even though it works, I don't intend to use it. It is a little scary using it. It does not have a trigger. Once the air is connected, it start spinning. I am guessing the trigger must be part of the air line, but that is an odd (not to mention dangerous) way of turning on and off the drill. I did a lot of Google search and could not find any info on it. Anybody here have any info on it.

Oldtool, is that not the type of air drill used in an pillar drill jig/armature?
It has a long neck but no handle/pistol grip....and if it was mounted then the trigger/tap/foot pedal being remote might make some sense.

But that's just my guess :lol_hitti

I'm thinking foot pedal as well, I don't see how you would hold the drill with no handle though :lol_hitti Jig explains it.

I didn't think about that. I think you might be right since there is no handle trigger so it has to be some sort of peddle trigger. I will do a search on peddle trigger air tools. Thanks.

Nice looking Craftsman 3 wheeler. If you need another blade i think they take a .025 thick blade due to the smaller dia wheels.

I found a Craftsman block grinder on Craigslist and when I arrived I happened to ask if he had any other tools and this is what I ended up with for $40. i'm sure i'll be able to use a few of these and not sure what a couple of them are. I had to go through 3 or 4 tool boxes to find this stuff that were all looking pretty sad in a corner. if I get any requests to make pictures larger i'll do the Photobucket links. the pliers looking tool was maybe used for knob and tube wiring?

Found a three box Craftsman combo I picked up for $100 tonight. It's still in my vehicle so no pics yet. All drawers work and slide great. Two top boxes are newer. The bottom box needs a little sand and paint on the top, but is in nice shape otherwise. No noticeable damage to any of the boxes.

Also got an older Matco spring compressor that has never been used for $20. I am pretty excited to pickup so cheap.

Wiring tool, yes, but not electrical. It's for barbed wire fence repair. The notches on the sides are for cutting the wire one strand at a time, and the hammer-like outer faces of the jaws are .... wait for it ... hammers! For hammering staples in. Most I've seen have a kind of bill affair instead of one of the hammers, almost like an anvil horn. It's for pulling staples. The jaws probably have cylindrical recesses to hold and crimp crush sleeve splices.

Yep Fence pliers, something you can shove in a saddlebag, and still do a lot with riding wire. I've got both styles, spiked and like yours. I carry a set in the 4 wheeler, as you never know when a little wire will come in handy for a trial side repair, and there is always abandoned fencing around...

Ok. I waited in the cold this morning [ 5 degrees ] The add said workshop tools in the basement and tools in the garage. Well there was nothing there except a lot of low grade Chinese stuff. But under a bunch of rags I found this Erie vise still bolted to the bench. Not a great deal [$10 ] but I wanted something to show for standing in the cold.

You did alright with the vise for $10. It still has the pipe jaws. I don't see those on the vises I come across very often.

There haven't been any sales in my area in weeks. Yesterday I made the obligatory check of CL and Garage Sale Finder and found one lonely Saturday sale on the other side of town. It was billed as a "Huge Moving Sale" and, (in addition to the obligatory clothes and kid stuff), included "yard stuff and tools". I could hardly sleep last night I was so excited :bounce:.

So this morning, flush with optimism, I loaded up the truck and headed for the sale. It supposedly started at 9:30 and I made it the neighborhood by 10:00. The first problem I noticed was that there were no Garage Sale signs at the entrance to the neighborhood. Not good. Unfazed I headed down the street the sale was supposed to be on. Hmm, still no signs, and everyone's garage was buttoned up against the cold. I started to panic and missed the address the first time but after circling the block I found the house. A rusty lawnmower, a Little Tykes table, and a box of kitchen junk were piled in the driveway. A handwritten For Sale sign lay in the snow beside them. I figured it'd be best for everyone concerned if I just kept rolling.

:tantrum2:

Oh well, the day wasn't a total loss, I swung by a local thrift store where I found my fix, a like-new 15" Channellock adjustable wrench at the low low rate of $1/inch. I have no use for it but I sure did need it.

Lousy winter, hope some of you had better luck with the sales than I did .

It looks like a good deal to me, I bought a very similar Desmond Stephan Simplex this summer and was happy to pay $25, $10 is much better!
