Matt, I probably have a dozen or more gallons of camp fuel by now, and haven't bought it new in years. I keep getting it for a buck of so at yard sales, more often than not, with a lantern...

I've also converted a 3 gallon outboard tank into my "fueling station" with a valve controlled hose and spigot that fits the fill ports on the Coleman and other gear. I added a Schrader valve and one pump with a hand pump will start a "siphon" going. Once started if it stops I can just open the cap up and it will siphon as long as the tank is higher than the thing I'm filling.

Outlaw does white gas not turn to varnish like gasoline does? I see old cans cheap at sales but I always figured it would be spoiled.

It's pretty hard to spoil it: Coleman fuel = White gas = almost pure naphtha = Ronsen lighter fuel.

It does NOT = Charcoal lighter fluid, which is varying mixes of Naphtha and kerosene generally (Sometimes all or near all Kerosene) ...

Naphtha has pretty much an indefinite shelf life.:thumbup::thumbup:

Thanks for the info, I'll add white gas to the list of stuff GJ has taught me I need to pick up at sales :D.

Flat looks like a great haul! what is the ratchet with the bullet handle? Blackhawk? looks cool!

Bisley, what size drawers/case is that? I usually see them as 18 drawer, not 24 drawer.

I did good today, spent WAY more than I usually do, bit I think worth it... Working on pics...

I went to 2 planed yard sales this morning, but both were a waste of gas. I did pick up a few items at the first one though. (pic #1)

After getting home, I remembered a sale from last week that was continuing this week so I made the long drive over there to see if they had sold a nice piece I had seen out in the barn but didn't ask about the first time. I'll tell more about it in the next post (it deserves it's own post). I picked a few other things there as well (pic #2).

Pic 1 - $1 (25¢ea.)

2 - 1# boxes of galvanized nails (10d, 8d)
unmarked chainsaw file
10" Bet-R-Grip adjustable wrench. It was seized. When I got it home I found that the thumbscrew was trashed and needs to be replaced.

Pic 2 - $3 ($1ea.)

Cman #3 Phillips screwdriver -V- (WF)
#420 Fairmount 7/32" Pin wrench
J.H. Williams & Co. 3/4" - 2" adjustable wrench

Not to bad for missing out on the garage sales plus this was all free. OT on Saturday plus some free tools is always good thing.

Have a good one, Gerard

OK - So the barn sale from last week was run by a nice, but flakey woman who still hadn't organized anything a week later. The sale was supposed to start at 10a (again) but at 9:30 when I got there, she still hadn't a clue about what she wanted to do. She was going to haul everything out to the driveway by herself, so since me and another guy showed up early we gave her a hand. She still wasn't ready at 10. She just couldn't stay focused. :willy_nil

Eventually I found a few things and asked about the item I had come for. A parts washer. She had never used it, but wanted to show me that the pump worked. So, she plugged it in and .............. nothing. She got distracted and wandered off. (at least a soapdish stays where you put it.) When she got back, I reached behind the motor and flipped the switch. Success. I asked what she wanted for it, paid without haggling, and put it in my truck.

I paid ........................ $20 !!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a GrayMills Handi-Kleen model # PL-32 (5 gallon). The only thing it needs is the wire tray inside, and 4" of hose connector. It also needs a SERIOUS degreasing before I can bring it into the house.

OK the day started auspiciously this week; I stopped at a place that every month or so has a sale and it's mostly storage lockers he's bought to re-sell. I know the guy somewhat after all these years, (he lives maybe 3 blocks from name), and he says "Hi!" and "I got something for you I saved that I think you will like!"

He hands me an 11/16 Williams striking wrench, in good shape! "Yours for free; I know you like tools, and this was all I had this time around that's any good."

attachment.php

Hows that for the start of the day? :D

Ironically I couldn't find anything else good in his plunder this time around.. I usually can find SOMETHING.

As TOO, stop for a scouting fundraiser and $3 got me an Accro bin and a pony square, in yellow. Maybe I can keep better track of this one with the bright color? the 10WR Vise grips were a buck and a half at another planned stop and the brass handled GAM driver was part of a fleamarket handful I got for SWMBO for a buck.

attachment.php

I had gathered a double handfull at another TOO, 8" clamp, a Plvmb mini starter/manifold wrench (1/2-7/16), a larger Unibit, an emergency gas/eater wrench, a pair of fence pliers, and a couple of good grade plugs.

attachment.php

Same place got the this box. usually these are either empty, of full of junk. it WAS full of junk but my kind of junk! :rocker:

attachment.php

Inside are tons of drill bits and the like! and under the tray...

attachment.php

Is more "junk" along with the Milwaukee magnum drill! :bounce:

attachment.php

The box was $20 and the rest was "give me another $5" :3gears:

More random TOO stops:

These levels were $1 each, the larger is a "Sweet Heart" era Stanley, the other is also a Stanley, and has an 1896 patent date!

attachment.php

Two mostly complete sets on metric ball drivers, $5

attachment.php

And on to the Flea market: two more striking wrenches, Faimount and Billings for a couple of bucks; another guy had the Starrett Taper gage and it actually had its case, as wel as the Corwell impact swivel, and 16 rds of CCI 22 mag shells. (not shown) $5 all

attachment.php

A heller Bros. curved Knife, (I can't remember what this is for... trimming horse hooves? ) , an OLD semi stubby driver, a Williams tappet wrench, an old adjustable bike wrench, and that weird screwdriver/hammer combo. $2 all

attachment.php

And after the Flea, from a planned stop (they opened late, I got there later who knows what IO missed... :dunno:) a Stanly No 100 Miter saw frame. in GREAT shape, dn on an odbal tripod stand. th stand top can be tilted or swiveled... :dunno:

attachment.php

attachment.php

The saw was made FOR Stanley not by Stanley... by Atkins Saw, a div. of Borg Wanner out of Greenville Mississippi

Oops - here is the saw's label. the handle was not impressive, but the blade is well made and still very sharp!

attachment.php

Same place was an older B&D Workmate with the aluminum frame! al the above was $30. The base of the WM needs some TCL but now I have a pair of the older "good" WM's and I'l sell off my two mod 200 WM's

attachment.php

And the last stop another regular stop ofr me. the guy sells at his home adn the HS FM, so he knows me.

I was thinking those "pliers" were crimpers but I don't think so... the lock into place closed, so I think they may be for gripping something ... :dunno:

Anyway, included was the shiny ignition wrench, a Plvmb, and the other ignition wrench which has a built in feeler gauge, and is marked ABMC... plus the little convex spotting mirror... all for a buck!

attachment.php

Paging JEFF on those pliers things. They are marked "Bell System "B" on one side, and H.K.P. Inc. on the other? :dunno:

You **** on the Milwaukee magnum drill!:shocking: And I like those fence pliers for some odd reason:headscrat

damn, you ****!

Thanks! :bounce:

Bobcat, I like that style also. This pair was completely unmarked for a maker, but are top quality for all that! I always like that hooked pick, and this one has style! I'm pretty sure that pick serves double duty, for pulling staples as well as digging in a horse's hoof/shoe.

Wandered over to a garage sale down the block today and dug through a bin full of random tools. Found a few Craftsman USA items, one lonely DBE Gearwrench, and a Cornwell TR32 3/8 ratchet. Ratchet seems sound if perhaps a little gunked up inside. I'll disasemble and give it a good cleaning. $3 total

Outlaw, you were correct in thinking that the "pliers things" are crimpers. They are a small one hand swaging tool. I presume that Bell used them for crimping splices or connecters in phone wire. but i'm sure that Jeff would know better.

A piece of history. The top and bottom are 1964. Must have taken a while to fill the original combo. The middle box is 1970. Side handles change from 64 to 70. Keys for the top and middle. No key for the bottom, but the locking mechanism still works. The bottom drawers are out from taking a picture of them--they are angled, not vertical. i thought it was kind of cool.

You guys found so many scores, I don't know who to congratulate more!! :willy_nil

This weekend was Trade Day(boot sale for you guys across the pond;) ) for me, I hit a few sales Friday morning with nothing to show, then had my sale today so no garage sailing for me. I did walk the sale a few times headed to the concession and managed to score this pair pf Petersen 10r and what I assumed is some type of mortising attachment for a drill press. If anyone can solidly identify brand or model, please let me know.
01038.jpg

Also just got off the phone with a CL seller that is meeting me tomorrow to sell me a missing link from my Heritage collection. Pics/info tomorrow on that!

Outlaw: there were so many pages of stuff you bought today I lost track of what all you bought besides the wrench Bobcat is PM ing you to buy.

nice hauls and i bet it filled up a bench for a bit until you put them all in their places.

Nine: i have no idea what you found, but it's interesting piece of steel and don't blame you for picking it up.
