Yeah it's always good when you see a no brainer, and there is stuff you might have passed on or missed buried deep...

Great score!

Hell, I paid asking price. I don't know what was going on at that house but she was surly selling a lot of tools. I asked but the tools where gone she said. I looked around and that was about last tool related item around.

Sounds like jilted woman or revenge type sale. Some husband or boyfriend is going to come looking for you. :wtf:

zkling - Your PM folder is full, so I can't PM you to let you know that I have the catalogs scanned. Clear some space and we can talk.

 Sorry. Please try again.

As for reducing size. I usually just take a picture in macro with a camera compared to scanning. Or if scanning, scan to a pdf. However the camera is usually much faster.

After a long self imposed dry spell I finally caved in.
Hit the resale joint the other day. Rarely do they even have decent screwdrivers, pliers , etc.
Saw this Coleman camp stove for 6 bucks, got it to the shop and found the tank about half full of fuel.

Rest of the stuff came from a job site where we were doing a bathroom rehab for the homeowners who were putting the house up for sale.
Got there one morning and the garage had a big pile of stuff stacked up.
Owner said someone was coming to haul it off and to take what I wanted.
B&D circular saw works great with a new Diablo blade installed
Coolest item is the microscope and metal case.
All free.

Now I'm in trouble.
Garage sales are starting up again , and I've been scoping out auctions on Auctinzip again.

Thrift store find from yesterday. I've been looking for one of these. $25:

One estate sale this morning. In town, which was nice. Got there about 20 minutes before start, was #17 on the list. Stayed by the front door, they let people in without calling numbers. I was one of several who made a beeline for the basement, but I found myself alone at the hand tool table. Picked everything below up for $29:

Old SK tool box

At the top, we have an Imperial tubing tool kit, a vintage Husky 3/8" socket set, an SK 1/4" ratchet, one SK socket, one Wright socket, vintage Husky 3/8" universal, piston ring pliers, a set of Wright screwdriver bit sockets in their box, KD spark plug boot pliers, DBEs by Blue Point, Barcalo, Duro Chrome, and SK, 6" Master Mechanic USA adjustable, Trimo pipe wrench, a BP hammer (Did Link make hammers, or just handles?), and an Artisan (Gamble's store brand) claw hammer. Not shown: imported tools.

I'll probably get shunned by this forum for leaving this behind, but they had a vintage Craftsman 100 table saw on the single-post stand.

Small swap meet tomorrow.

A few goodies at the first big (and overpriced) outdoor flea of the year.

Lots of looking on my end, Little buying

Ward's 3 1/2" bench vise for under $25.

otqgrs.jpg

9rput1.jpg

Box of various vendor/seller odds and ends for all under $30 as a total.

260sy6c.jpg

S-K, Yale, Enderes, Perterson vice grips, PLUMB and C'man ball peens, Klein, a bunch of dental picks for cleaning tools, General Tools out of NY tech screwdriver, Krauter needle nose and some small goodies.
Made in Japan old skool small trigger oiler now shown as well that will be damn handy.

No mojo show really. LOLZ.
I felt meh about the whole thing.
We'll see what tomorrow (Sat.) brings.

Sdavis: did you really only have to pay $20 for that haul? worth 5 or 10 times that so a big YS to you and i hope you can find a use for them all.

JJJ: quality vise that looks like it only needs to get cleaned up and then bolt to your bench or triple your money on a sale if you don't need one to pay for all those other quality tools. i'd like to know what Jeff says about the Yale lock because it really has the cool factor look to it. did it have a key and is it working? how much just for that? nice stop and i like your style bringing a cardboard box to a sale with padding in the bottom. or did the owner provide?

I found this lift on Craigs for $140 that definitely needs some TLC, but it might keep me from having to lift those heavy vises so far. anybody know of a great 4 inch caster that rotate and has locks? I have found a few and just wanted opinions from some that have used any they really like and ones the locks are easy to use and hold well. i need 4 new ones or slightly used if you own some extra that will work. rated for maybe 1000 pounds. I added another members lift that he has owned for 40 years so you can get a better idea of what mine will look like.

have fun today guys and best of luck

Yes-Sushhhhhhhhhhh--it's a secret---but that is where the lock is heading, but we ALL knew that... :)
Duh.

Weighs as much as the dang vice grips above it.
Tumbler has Y1001 stamped on it so I am guessing jeffmoss26 can make it uesable. I;m still in lock hunting/learning mode. I just find and pass on.
And yes, the clasp has play even locked so it's functional.

As for the cardboard flats (that what I call them since my grocery store working days ), I pick them up free from the local convenice stores. Singly sold canned soda, juice and beer get shipped in them shrink wrapped and I keep them around for holding or cleaning tools and such as any oil or cleaner gets wicked into the cardboard.

Use and toss or recycle.

:)

Great hauls all! Esp for a Friday!

Flat, great find on the SK box! too bad shipping is so killer for boxes. Gotta be selective or have patience for a local one...

DIF Love the lift! A friend used to have one of those. Not for real HEAVY loads, but a GREAT tool for the awkward medium heavy stuff! I'd love to have one if I had the space.

Jim, that General driver looks a lot like a couple of Husky's I have one with small PH and blade bits, and the other with tiny torn. There should be 3 more bits under the spinning cap?

I know... I've been sitting on an SK Carpenter's box of the same era because I dread packing and shipping stuff like that. This one's not as big, or maybe I'll find a use for it.

Flat, you are now shunned.... Nice score but...the table saw, man....

:( If it makes you feel any better, I'm sure I'll feel guilty about the one that got away every time I drive by that house!

I passed on an 80 model a year or two back and it had become an obsession to find another 80/100 until I got lucky this past weekend. I would only get rid of this 80 to upgrade to the 100, and that single pole stand is about the only pole stand I don't have, you just passed on my dream man...

Least I know she's still out there...:D

I can always check to see if it's there tomorrow. How far you willing to drive to pick it up?

It really depends on what they want for it and what all comes with it. I passed on a 100; no stand, no miter, with the fence though, but the guy wanted silly money for it... :dunno: I guess he wanted it more that I did... :pimpflash

They were asking $150. I think it had the fence and one extension :dunno: . It looked like the base was bolted to a dolly. Honestly, I didn't look too closely at it because I didn't want to get attached. I was already wondering how difficult it would be to get in my car...

The more time I spend on here with you guys, the more I realise we end up with the thin end of the wedge when it comes to tools.

I have a large update to make from my latest toolbox purchase and subsequent shuffle, but for now with all of you seemingly only needing to leave your house to trip over a "you ****" kinda win, please let me present you all with a little something from this Brit, in the kindest of ways :)

I really just wanted you to have it so I could be jealous, I certainly wouldn't frive halfway to MI for an old rusty table saw now would I?

Right, price means a lot and accessories matter!

That's on the high end of what I would pay local, but I still would have looked it over good.

decent haul for today. got these interesting Craftsman spring loaded pliers, they have no other markings besides Craftsman logo. no idea what theyre for.

a Mac PH8 acetate handled screwdriver

a Blackhawk #34987 3/8 extension 6"

Craftsman 1/2 drive speeder handle, both handles rotate. No markings other than "Craftsman" on swing handle and a V in the center of the knob handle.

last but not least an Easco 731111 round head quick disconnect 1/2 drive ratchet. I counted 88-90 clicks of different sounds so I am guessing 44/45 teeth and dual pawl? Very smooth. Looks unused with some surface rust on the thumbwheel.

all for $8. Not bad for good Friday!

I also forgot I had picked up a few oddball wrenches last week, all 50 cents each. top to bottom:

Williams The "Superrench" DOE in 1" and 7/8, #1733

Lectrolite made in USA (No part #) 25/32 and 3/4 DBE

a matching pair of Lectrolite T-2022 DOE in 11/16 and 5/8, these are very long and thin.

two Master Mechanic USA metric DOE, T5708M (8 and 6mm) and T5709M (9 and 7mm). Who made these, Easco?

Three sales this morning. The first was a hoarder's stash, couldn't move through the piles to find anything. The second was a joke, an apartment dweller who's idea of "tools for sale" was a handful of dime store handtools and a plastic stanley miter box w/o a saw. The third was ok, but not much left to catch my interest. I ended up picking up a few "stock" items for $5, just so I wouldn't go home empty handed.

20' 14/3 extension cord (for replacement power cords)
2 balls of twine
5 e-box covers (my shop has a few missing)
and a neat little single razor blade holder marked "MOBIL"

No flea market tomorrow due to Bunny worshipers. :(

Yeah it was thin here today also, probably due to the weekend of the bunny man... lots of unadvertised stops, but mostly junk. I'm about to go back out with my son to PU some free building blocks, (if they don't vanish...)

I did get some sockets, including one 3/4 drive SK and a couple of other things. Pics later today.

Seems like some good deals going on!

I've been spending time with the family and working around the house.

Hopefully next weekend I'll see about a garage sale or two depending on how the night fishing for catfish goes!

OK, My stuff such as it is. I paid $3 TOTAL...

2/3 of that was for this box. Mostly walnut; Walnut has a "feel" all its own...

The only other place that had anything I was willing to part with cash was run by a guy I hadn't seen in about a year. he's a real estate guy, and regularly holds yard/estate sales for his clients to help them get their junk gone, and he prices aggressively, to accomplish that! :pimpflash

A couple of Grinder attachments for the old school Kirby vacuums:

Some Hammer/Mallet handles:

Some Sockets and an Armstrong DBE wrench; the big 3/4 drive in back is an SK, the mid row is Craftsman, and the row in front is from L to R, Easco, Duro, Mustang, and Powr Kraft.

And from the Free pile a bunch of 8X8X16 block

And a half dozen of these half blocks:

Hmmm a post went missing:

The box is an "MBC" and when it was made (1965 date code) MBC made SO boxes. You got yourself a great box there!
