24oz or 28 oz. Vaughan USA ball peen that needs a new handle (but ya gotta love the peice of **** handle that's on there. TWO metal wedges in it and it's still loose.--duh) Now in vinegar soak.

Glass cutter.

1/2" Stanley USA Contractor Grade Chisel to match many of my others

Staple gun staples.

Interpur Cutlery, Made in Japan Fiskar "knock-off" scissors.
And Interpur made NICE stuff out of Japan. Sharp and sturdy as %^&.

USA sliding handle tap wrench.

All for $6.

I was "meh."

Hammer will be re-handled with a USA hickory handle.
The scissors rock.

Alinc: i was thinking you might have not gotten your usual haul when you mentioned paying $200 for one picture of stuff until i clicked on the picture. now granted some of the 44 pictures are duplicates, but my God that must have filled up the trunk or the bed of your pick up. very nice and i love bulk purchasing.

Outlaw: Very nice job on the Wilton bullet. you have skills sir and i'm wondering if you might get the same with the aluminum jaws as you would with the original ones? personally i like the softer jaws so i don't ding up my projects and i put copper jaw covers over all my vise's jaws.

Saw this a few weeks back with a big price tag and left a $400 offer. Went on vacation, came back and found my offer accepted. KR562A Taco Wagon stuffed full of tools to park opposite my KR562E Taco Wagon.

So far cleaned up about 150 sockets, mostly USA, 1/3 Snappy, 1/3 MAC, 1/3 misc. Some seriously large wrenches (S/K, Williams, Hazet). Some German car specific awesomeness (Hazet/Heyco). Working through it all slowly. Couple hundred taps with old faded writing and same quantity of drill bits should be fun to sort.

Here are today's finds, it's tough working and trying to go to these sales, Here is S.A, TX first you have to be there the previous day at 9:30 am to sign up, then the next day at 9:00 to go in! Ugh! Well, I was #54 out of about 80 people that signed up no needless to say I had to sit there and watch people walk out and keep thinking to myself "I would have bought that...and that..."

Nice shop stool, vise, and some hand tools Total : $25. I was OK with that!

Left to Right : Old Channel Lock Unknown Handsaw with blade upside down marked : ROSS K.C. MO so I assume Kansas city, but don't know anything more! Any ideas? Unmarked line pliers and Kraeter(SP?) pliers

Got a little jump on the weekend sales today. First stop was a promising-sounding garage sale. Nothing in my price range. Well, there was an old-school Craftsman 100 Radial Arm saw for a ridiculously low price, but I wasn't sure I had a spot for it or if there was any demand for such a thing... Anyway, I left empty-handed.

Wasn't super optimistic about the next stop, and they put a lot of effort into not bargaining with me , but here's what I brought home:

Indestro 1/2" drive socket set with case (the ratchet is an Indestro Super, the sockets look Indestro but say "Chrome Alloy USA", which I don't think I've seen before), all the deep sockets are Craftsman, as are the pipe wrench, the Ford wrench, the two screwdrivers on the right, and the 4" adjustable. The Lasting Pliers are Union (there appears to be a hole or plug where the 'hammer' would go...), the 1/2" breaker bar is Indestro, the Phillips screwdriver is an Irwin and the stubby is a Vaco. At lower right are two more things that were in the socket set case... Are they kitchen mixer attachments?

This cost more than the rest of the score put together:

It's metric and missing the 10mm and 15mm sockets. (Fortunately I found a 10mm in my stash) I can't find any date codes, so I'll have to use other ways to figure out how old it is.

Finally, I hit a thrift store on the way home and couldn't turn this down for $1:

It's empty and I think it's been repainted (pretty well, actually). My guess is it's for a torch kit?

I hope this was a positive omen for the weekend!

It all depends on whether you want a vintage RAS in your shop.

I recently brought home my Dad's 1963 Craftsman RAS that I grew up using. A little cleaning and a new cord and it works perfectly. I've even had my daughters' using it for some school projects using Grandpa's tools!

I don't know the value, but I have no interest in selling mine!

My favorite score is actually this box of assorted rubber parts for 25 cents! Also a speed controller I hope to use with my CNC router

I got some of my grandfathers old tools. Alot of old Craftsman stuff.

An old craftsman drill with no reverse (or I couldnt find it..). It has a polisher/grinder and a saber saw attachment. Pretty cool. In the top left is a miniature vice.

A bunch of saws, a plane, a cool sprinkler, and one jack stand????

A really nice Craftsman level and a life time supply of box cutters.

Anyone have a clue as to what these might be?

As stated above, the first one is a star bit for drilling in stone. WHACK, 1/8 turn, WHACK, 1/8 turn, WHACK, 1/8 turn, WHACK, 1/8 turn, WHACK, 1/8 turn, etc .................

The second is the socket piece for a spark plug wrench. It is missing a rod that passes through it to use as a handle.

Hi All,
Was able to pry myself out of bed for what appeared to be a promising Estate Sale.The preview pictures showed several toolboxes including a Matco 3 drawer cart so I figured there would be some tools worth hunting.I arrived early around 8:00 as the sales force was rolling in and setting up.Managed to be first in the garage as they let us in around 8:45.
I picked up this handful of items,perused the rest,alot of Craftsman small power tools ,misc sockets ,wrenches,etc . Nothing in sets or many "truck brand" items.
Did find a few gems including:
Snap On AWP120 -12" pliers
Snap On A144A -Flywheel Turner
2 pairs of Craftsman Needlenose Pliers
1 pair of Craftsman slip-joint pliers
1 pair of Craftsman arc -joint pliers
1 pair -Made in Israel diag cutters
2 Craftsman ratcheting screwdrivers
A JH Williams "superjustable" 10'' wrench
Craftsman bit/drill set
Unmarked Magnetic tip screwdriver
Snap On Stubby Screwdriver
and 4 out of 5 pairs of Craftsman mini pliers
Total bill=$31














The Snap On tools will get a quick cleaning and probably be posted on EvilBay by the end of the weekend. Some of the rest will go to a buddy of mine trying to put a small kit back together after a car break-in /theft.
And of course some I will keep : )

The first item shown is a star drill, used to drill holes in concrete or stone, You would use a short handled drilling hammer to hit the drill while rotating the drill. You really had to want to drill a hole. Ken.

Hit up an estate sale this morning that looked promising. It turned out better than I had imagined. Starret No. 230 0-1" mic, No. 463 1-2" mic, Starrett 98-6 Machinist Level, pin vise, proto 3/8 combo, and not pictured, a C305R 6 inch scale, and Texas Instruments Ti 83 plus.

And from the same sale, 4 C clamps.

Total damage, 23 dollars.

Other items not pictured from last week's flea market haul were a Craftsman RHFT with patent pending on the handle, Vise grips with a 1942 patent date, and a $10 Proto 1 1/2" combo!

Chicago Specialty is/was a manufacturer of plumbing tools. It is most likely a plumbing wrench for larger sizes, such as on a faucet, to remove the retaining nuts. They are a bit too "weak" for use as a spark plug socket.
The star drill, while it can be used to drill a hole from start to finish in concrete or stone, now has a more updated use. If you're running a hammer drill (not a rotary hammer) and do run into some super hard agregate while drilling, take the drill out, insert the star drill. Give it a couple slugs and turns and viola, the aggregate is busted up and you can return to the hammer drill to finish up.

Trainman, that looks to be a machinist's surface plate. get the junk off the top adn tell show us what the condition is! The stand needs to be set somewhere permanent/stable, and leveled. GREAT find for 25! and a definite usuck!

Sale 2 - $60 spent - the set of Proto chisels, another roll of Crescent and Snap On and Plomb Chisels and punches as well as a sweet local ice pick. Some misc bits and Never Dull, as well as 6 US made c-clamps. Vintage bakelite ViewMaster and Slides not pictured.
That part was $40.

I also picked up an early Century 1/3HP buffer with a very early 1900's look for another $20.

definite suckage, what size is it? Granite surface plates are useful even in non machine shop environments. and for $25? I paid twice as much for a 12x18x4 Starrett Grade A and it didn't come with a stand.

Not much for tools so far. But I did get the metric Cman wrenches and Allan keys as part of this package deal yesterday. It's the only way to make the tool post legitimate.
David Lee, of David Lee Hauling, had his storage/rental cleaning sale again. I was looking through a tote jumbled full of DVD's, cables, and etc. and noticed the front of a Xbox (I was breaking the rules and away from work on break, so I didn't have a good look at anything). Asked what he wanted for it. He says "I don't know anything about this kind of stuff. How about $30". I'm sold. I start to pull it out of the mix and he continues to say, "Everything in the box is free with purchase. Take it with you". Right on.
There must be about 100 CD's and DVD's (sorted, stored, or discarded by my happy wife now). A laptop, a couple MP3 players (one new), a $40 Laplink cable (wanted one/could never justify the cost), various other cables, 3 Xbox 360 games, and of course, the Xbox.
It's an Xbox 360 w/ the 250GB drive. Free of dirt and scratches, the thing is like new and has everything with it. Someone put it into storage and lost it. We have the orig. Xbox. But this thing is fun, like upgrading from a bicycle to a space ship fun!
Life is good!
Did I mention I picked up some wrenches and Allan keys?

That is one ironic ice pick.

There is a theory that was floating around that dust from air pollution was getting all the polar ice dirty and less reflective, and that was causing the ice to melt. Its pretty well accepted for the retreat for glaciers in Europe, (that frozen man from 5000 years or so ago...), but the current popular reason is CO2... in 5 years it wil be all the hot air from all the scientists and politicians...
