Do you know when they changed logo? I like it because it matches dad's top box logo. This box is dated 82.

Right around there me thinks, ~'81 :dunno: for sure. I based my comment off the extra mounting hole and that usually the boxes with drawer pull trim have the more modern badge.

Man, you could sell that TI calculator for what you paid for the whole lot.

You ****!

Great minds think alike! The plan was to sell it for $25 to cover the day and pass on the savings locally since the junior college is down the street until it decided it didn't wanna turn on. Replaced the AAA batteries and did some troubleshooting online, but to no avail. Button battery still had power, but maybe I'll try replacing it anyways. Can't hurt to try, right? :dunno:

Pile o' saws

And a strange square with a 1911 pat. date

Were you at the flee market today? I thought I saw you, but I didn't want to look like a fool if I said what's up and that wasn't you . This person also had a bunch of hand saws in his hand. I was there Friday, Saturday and today and got some decent scores.

The hammers/ pliers are to my growing blacksmith tool collection. I nabbed the Jackdaw adjustable for $3, and this may be the first English tool I've scored at a sale. The collection of catalogs was really cool. I may have a couple "padlock oriented" catalogs for Jeff Moss if you are interested. The Optima Yellow top was the real score for $30.

I also got the Cole Steel shop stool for $7 and the Huot toolbox for $15 from the same vendor. I still need to snap pics of the Echlin parts cabinet and other small assortment of tools I got on Friday. They are tucked away in the garage, but I'll get pics.

Yea! Yo I still have those hammers for ya. I bought a super clean vintage blue point 32oz'er so my doubles have become triples

Were ya with the fam pushing a stroller? I had on a blue UNC shirt and I was carrying a ton of saws. It all started with one for a dollar but the seller didn't have change. So I walked around buying saws till I got some small bills

Dude up near the parking lot with the tons of rust is supposed to be getting tools in every week for the next two weeks. He had some deals and he had some high prices too (the anvils). I feel like there were some treasures in there but everything was a mess and spread around.

Yup, that was you. I was on a solo mission since I yanked the motor out of that Isuzu and had to get it up to my pop's shop. Let me tell you how much fun it was to get the engine lift out of my truck in order to get the engine out of my truck by myself:mad:. Needless to say I have a tall cold one in front of me as I type.

I did check out Mike's load. His prices are all over the place. I know the auction where he got those items. He must have bought a **** ton of the lots. My guess is he is just trying to get his money back for what he had to shell out. His prices will drastically fall once he is in the gravy.

Stanley hand drill, Bemis and Call monkey wrench, Lamson and Sessions (made in Cleveland) monkey wrench, Bonney stillson wrench.

Today was a SK and Proto tool day!

I nabbed all of this for $7,

3/8" ratchet SK, SK socket, 1/4" extension SK Wayne, adapter from 3/8" to 1/4" drive SK Wayne, 3/8" extension SK Wayne. Then a Craftsman socket, proto wrench with socket head, and a proto key chain flat head screwdriver!

Whittled the list down to 6 stops today. Scored at 4 of them. First two were busts. Third was a "Huge Man's Rummage". The $1 bin yielded the following:

SK Wayne Slip Joint pliers, Utica pliers, Vlchek punch and offset DBE, 2 Select Steel DOEs, 5 SK Wayne combos, and the Stanley 12' tape that didn't make the group photo.
Then I picked up this 10" Craftsman adjustable for $5:

The last thing from this stop was a $20 ziploc bag full of SK (including 75% or so of SK Wayne):

More to follow

I'm just digging all of that SK goodness in these pics!!!

Pretty sure my post got deleted. I have a pile of Matco and Snap-on tools for sale. List will be coming soon.

For more info, feel free to contact me throught the GJ website.

Matco tool box, tools and air tools.

Are you TRYING to get banned? this thread is NOT for you to sell your stuff, period...

You have only 5 posts so until you get to 100, you can't even use the classifieds which is where your post belongs...

$5 for both boxes that belonged to my co-workers's wife's ex-husbands deceased grandfather..........Yeah, I know.

I was supposed to buy these from my co-worker 8 months ago. I was all pumped thinking what he could have for me. Glad I skipped the 20 min. drive to his house for this lot :( . He brought them to work and said give me 5 bucks.

A couple small gems in here. Some nice old Williams wrenches at least.

No one had, but I figured it out as I had one already that was marked. Thanks for mentioning it though because finding that was dumb luck! (there IS no substitute! ) The Waldon pear heads are interesting: The spring for the pawl is a ball detent from he bottom that provides tension and a positive stay one side to the other. they also use a rather expensive three position cut to get all the cavities for the mechanism and mounting screws.

It needed cleaning and re-lubing so I took pics last night:

3bay, you got at least 5 bucks worth there; Glad you didn't have to burn fuel to get them though! In pic 4, what is the odd little piece between the scissors and the dykes?

Ahh, I don't have it with me now but I'll have to get a pic of it for you. It is some sort of brace bit. I can't recall the name on it. Looks pretty old.

I know he gave me a heck of a deal on all that, I was just hoping for some real treasures after hearing about the tools for months and  thinking what might be in there.

Outlaw, you might like what I picked up today from an antiques dealer (with antiques dealer pricing). Millers Falls hacksaw blade display stand.

Check the brightness. I found a TI 83 plus at Goodwill a few years back. Looked fine, but when I put new batteries in...nothing.

Turned out that it defaulted to the lowest brightness setting when I put in new batteries. Worked good as new after I figured that out!

Yep! You ****. You need to find a milling machine for another $25 so you can use it to do your layout work. Great find!
the top is flat and smooth and I have started to rearrange the garage to make room for this table. I was thinking I could use it for reloading.

this does not belong here at all:

I got a free graco fireball grease dispenser with hose on top of a 120 pound drum of new white lithium grease and another sealed 120 pound drum of mystik brand synthetic grease. All it needs is a new gun, the old one was ruined when the hose reel fell from the ceiling

Also

found a red snap on long needle nose pliers under the hood of a mercedes car

So I didn't go out this weekend, because I was out of room  Between selling stuff for my buddies dad's estate, then the woman in center city Philadelphia having me grab a few more things... by this time last week, I was stuffed. Now, I finally have some room to walk, but it may take another week til I buy something myself again.

BTW, holy cheap SK goodness! Great Job!

Jeff, can you post more pics of the Bonney?

Not much on Sunday, the few garage sales I stopped at were mostly baby clothes again. But here's the few things I did save:

pic 1: all for $6
Williams 531 toolpost wrench, very thick metal for its size
long-C Craftsman drill chuck with key
Williams No. 2-S tool holder for lathe in box with the wrench, very nice shape. Probably put in the classifieds for anyone who wants it and has a lathe.

pic 2: FREE
four various light bulbs, two of them new in box
Lee brand fuel filter, fits multiple car brands and models, last date on the box is 1977

pic 3: FREE
handful of 5/8"-thick phenolic resin mounting plates, might be good for vintage electronic work

Cool display! But it reminds me; I need to snag some more 10" blades for one of my fixed length Hacksaw frames... :willy_nil

This is very true. Whenever you change out the batteries completely, the contract resets on the display. To adjust it darker, press the "2nd" button then push the up arrow button. Took me awhile to figure that out.

Where else but GJ? :dunno:

Looks like it already happened. I can't find his name on the members listing.

Probably a small loss...

I got this craftsman grinder with stand for $30 off craigslist. Does anyone now the age of this model? Is the stand original?

Then I bought the router and box for $20 and the X,Y vise for $10(Taiwan) from the same guy. His father was a carpenter and now is in a home with dementia.:( He's selling every thing to pay for his care. This guy had one of the nicest workshops i've ever seen. I'll probably go back and get some of the hand tools.

Very strange weekend. Fantastic weather and very few sales spread out across the county. And that was fine by me. Suffered a fit of insomnia and was up at 5AM. I let everyone sleep in and drove around. A lot.
Out of all of the sales the last stop had tools. Four ratchets, mini H.F. miter saw, Channel lock dykes, hardened pins (the soft ones at Ace set me back a couple of bucks w/o the clips when I need them), and some buckles-$10.00. Three of the Ratchets are Husky and a Stanley. The guy I got them off of is a mechanic moving back east and these were his triplicates he decided to part with. He swears by them and said he liked them over SO, especially for the price. Very fine teeth. I don't have SO myself so I can't judge. And I kind of hate to admit this, but I've been using them and I think I like them better than my Craftsman and SK.
The next one was an impulse buy. The best I can describe the place as is the scene of the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" or the "Hills Have Eyes". Your pick, it works. It was in with a bunch of crapped out machinery. From a distance I saw what looked like an "S" on the side, so I was thinking it was a Suzuki. I got closer and saw it was $85.00. No keys, no battery, almost all of the fairing is cracked or shattered, and the kick start lever is missing. Trusty Vice Grips made it kick over, so I offered $50 and hauled it home.
Its an SG200 Skygo made by Lifan Motor Co in our Treasury's favorite lending communist country, Red China. Parts are readily available for anyone living in the Russia, the UK, or Venezuela. The key problem has been solved. My J Deere lawn tractor key fits all of the locks and it looks better w/ most of the body parts removed. It sports all kinds of quality issues. But for $50 I have a rolling frame with an engine on it to play with.
Besides, that's why we hunt the tools. To use em.

I'm guessing late sixties/early seventies since it's got the crown top CRAFTSMAN logo. It's also got the plastic shields instead of the earlier ones with the glass ones and metal frames.

The date it was made should be on the bottom of the grinder. It's stamped on the galvanized plate. I'm gonna say the pedestal was from the same era. Definitely a "you ****" for that score. It's as clean as a whistle with the elusive quench cup.

Thanks for the info! I'll have to unbolt it and check for the date. Yeah that's exactly how I got it. Everything was spotless and had it's place in that shop.

no garage sales around here, just pawn shops who think they got gold

Oh God, I could only imagine what pawnshops in NYC would want for Snap-On. It must **** when you walk into one and see a treasure, but know damn right well they are asking 10% less than retail for it. I see it ALL the time in Philly pawnshops.
