One Estate Sale yesterday netted me a few of the pictured things ,the BELL SYSTEMS leather pouch and a pair of (not pictured) linesmans pliers from (I think) U.D.E.& T. Co Utica NY?? anyone recognize this?
Everything else was from a garage clean out where I had purchased the Lyons shelving/cabinets earlier this week. Some of it was my original $15 purchase the rest was free!! Anyone have any info on Ingersol Rand circular saws? I can only find very expensive air driven saws and this one is electric, smooth runs like a champ and is reminiscent of the old Porter Cable/Rockwell's of a bygone era.

I just picked up this Craftsman Commercial bandsaw at the flea market. I probably overpaid for it. I spent $65. The wiring to the motor is kinda hillbilly rigged. I got the aluminum materials cart it is sitting on for free!

At $65 with legs I would say you got a deal! If you ever come up to the Michigan area and want your $65 back I can help with that.

I also picked up this calendar from an Estate Sale, paid a good chunk of change for it but I like the subject matter and I hope to get some other vintage calendars that I can recycle year after year.Anyone finds any let me know please!
001 (Large).jpg

I also went Tuesday and helped out the lady who ran the Monday sale and priced out/prepped a garage for a weekend sale.
I was able to pick through and grab what I wanted as payment for the work that day. I grabbed a Vulcan anvil for a jewelry making friend of mine she had been looking for something more subsantial than the RR track anvil she had, along with some wrenches and a old school clock by Simplex:
il_570xN.240037386.jpg

I had found/priced some Starrett and B&S tools that she had no idea what they were worth and commented that she"usually prices that stuff at $5-$10 and always gets someone wanting to negotiate down"
Now she has a little more understanding of their worth. Good news is I believe I will get a call/head up/ invite to pick and price all tools she comes across so a bridge has been built.

I got a like new Reelcraft electric reel at a garage sale today. This thing is beefy!

Looks like $350 online. I gave $125 and felt like it was a fair deal.

That would be Utica Drop Forge & Tool Co! AA has the details, but I want to say they simplified it to "Utica Tools" right around the 1940s.

Cowboy, I don't think you overpaid for the cutoff band saw at all.

Alinc you are killing it! Love that style/era pinup art.

My finds - Not sure I'l be able to keep it all straight, so many stops and a neighborhood had their annual multi-block garages sale event. Plus I had a half dozen or so other planned stops, plus a fair number of TOOs!

First stop I do remember, it was back to the guy I bought the air guns and DP vise from last Sunday to see if anything more popped up:

Nut Gripper Vise grips in two sizes, 4LB and 10LB I have the 4's but needed the 10's, and a brass bodied Auto center punch - $5

attachment.php

TOO Estate sale: House was near bare, garage was mostly full of electronic test gear, but I found this bag, and made an offer for the whole bag of $20

attachment.php

that was accepted and here is what was in it:

1 in mic hole gauges 2 dial indicators small taps

attachment.php

Plus all this under the boxes; A couple of cheap older flashlights, Wiss M2's Klein NN, Mostly Xcelite and Craftsman drivers, a proto wrench, Utica Pliers, 10" Crescent and 8" :dunno: who adjustable, a #56 drill, and a putty knofe.

attachment.php

After I got home, I also found a couple of envelops in the bag, mostly old Pick A part receipts, but a deposit envelope had $5 in it! Which paid me back for this antifreeze bottle "tray" I also got from them with sockets; SK Proto Craftsman one SO bit driver, a hand vise, the upholstery attachment, tap, centerdrill and a small Greenlee punch

attachment.php

Finally got started on the Block sale:

Desmond Simplex 400 - $10

Couple stops today. First one was a second-day estate sale. I was told it was for an electrical engineer from Mercury Marine:

The turning tools are Craftsman, the multimeter is Heathkit, there's the Craftsman saw set, the combo wrenches are Challenger with one Crescent, the pliers on the right are Diamond, the DOEs are Craftsman and Crescent, the pliers are Crescent and Herbrand, the brake tools are K-D, and the pouch at bottom is Irwin. Not shown are the Heathkit oscilloscope and ignition analyzer.

Second stop was a last-minute decision on the way home from the other sale. The ad said "every kind of tool", which made me scoff. Turns out it was the long-time manager of an apartment complex selling everything departing tenants had left behind over the past few decades. And it was "picked over" when I got there. Spent $15:

Craftsman DBE and chain wrench, the pliers are Diamond, the flare nut wrench is SK, Diamond and Proto adjustables, Craftsman combos and 3/8 and 1/4 breaker bars, screwdrivers are Irwin, Bridgeport, SK bit driver, Action, and Craftsman Industrial, ratchets are a 3/8" SK and a 1/4" Matco, at lower left are a Bonney extension and an SO adapter, the pliers are pre-SO Vacuum Grip battery pliers, Artisan slip-joints, Williams slip-joints, "MM" hose clamp pliers, and 2 pair of Craftsman.

Nice haul! The Blackhawk ratchet looks like it might clean up nice. Is it a "Freewheeler" ?

This is one of the nicest CM Commercial block grinders I've come across. The wheels are original but look brand new. Unfortunately the shields and tool rest are MIA. It was $15.

P1030635.jpg

A collection of motors. Three are 1HP and the CM is 1/2 HP. The Delta motors is huge for a 1 HP motor. Notice the lever on the side that reverses the direction. All 4 for $40.

P1030636.jpg

P1030637.jpg

Klein, Lindstrom, SK, Proto Professional Classic Screwdriver set, Stanley "cordless drill" and a set of letter drill bits. (SKF, HSS, USA). Most everything was between $.10 - $1.50 except the bits were $17.

P1030638.jpg

Bosch Plunge Router $10:

P1030639.jpg

Auto body supplies. $.50 to $2:

P1030640.jpg

Finally a power strip with more then a measly 6 outlets $5:

P1030641.jpg

Misc cabinet $1:

P1030642.jpg

Nylon tow rope ($1) and big chunk of thick wall aluminum ($.25):

Had one regular stop this morning.

First pic is Proto 1/4" and 3/8" drive SAE and metric sets, Proto BFRM, 1 5/8" combo, and two line wrenches, everything else is Wright; 1/2" and 3/4" drive sockets with 3/4" sliding t-bar and extension and combos 9/16"-1" (missing 3/4") and 1 1/4".

Second pic is a Snappy terminal tool set, screwdrivers, hex bit sockets and puller, Mac pry bar and thread file, Matco anti-freeze hydrometer, crimper, door panel tool, pick and DBE wrench. The impacts are Snappy and Craftsman, the rest a mix of Craftsman, S-K, Eklind and Petersen.

Third pic is what it is.

$55 for everything.

Also picked up another complete Craftsman 397.19340 block grinder (not pictured) at an auction later in the day for $25.

found a good pawn shop by my house, they don't really have any wrenches though but I'm going to build a mutt impact set of different brands.

I asked the guy at the counter how much he wanted for it. He responds proto is good stuff and that will be 2 dollars. 2 brand new kobalt usa, one cornwell and the rest is proto.

Hey everyone,

I picked this up yesterday, for $21.00 CAD. The main reason I grabbed it, I found a brand new, still with the wax on Greenfield M24 x 3 tap. Those retail for $100+.

I also thought the piston ring tool, shown in the photo with the Texaco service sticker was pretty neat!

Also the dog tag is from about an hour from my home town.

Does anyone recognize the maker of the box? The drawer pulls remind me of a Herbrand.

There was also a lot of misc fasteners not shown in the pictures, with a lot of garbage as well.

Most of what was in the box minus some of the major things like The Starrett tap handle, taps and a few other things will be given away. Ill have to see if I can find a replacement pin for what I believe to be a Herbrand nut splitter show in the upper left corner of the one picture.

If that was a Delta Rockwell Dave, I'd offer you a chunk of change. Good score all, you guys!

It's marked Delta Milwaukee (not Rockwell).

Nice Stanley push drill. How many bits in the handle?

It has about 8 bits. It's a pretty efficient way to drill a few small holes.

Yesterday there were two sales that was suppose to have tools, first one after driving 15 miles out of my way, said oh yea, they are over there (shovels rakes and hoes) bummer. The other was listed as tools, tools and more tools, I got there and there was very few tools left, The lady told me that he husband had been a Mech. and had passed last year and her son didn't want any of his stuff. So she had a yard sale, she also told me that a guy had bought 1500.00 worth of the tools and had just left. So this is what I got for 6.00. New in box inverter, a digital mic. and part of a matco retreader kit, I wanted the metric thread file.(didn't have one) Rich

The romantic hills of central Umbria, Italy,
I have one of those same 6" block grinders, use it for a buffer now as it's not as strong as my new 8" bench grinder (also SR&Co), that dates back to 1963. 52 years, and still working? IMO those were one of SR&Co's better alltime products. As yours was NIB, I'd expect your kids (and theirs) to be using it long into the future.

Yes it's a good one and a very nice score to get one that's NOS.

These 1/2 HP block grinders are much more powerful then the current crop of home center Chinese grinders.

I had to go up to my house in Maine yesterday to mow the lawn (the grass was 3' tall). I timed my drive so that I would get to a new flea market at opening time. 7am, and not a single seller showed up. I was the only one there. GRRRRRR. Then it was another 89 miles up to the house. There were plenty of lawn sales. All of them selling clothes, kitchenware, and trinkets. No tools. GRRRRRRRRR.

5 hours up, 4 hours mowing, and 5 hours back. Between gas, tolls, and a breakfast sandwich I spent $150 with nothing to show for it but a To-Do list for the next trip up.

I was even too tired this morning to bother going to the local Flea.

Shut Out. :(

You know you have garage sale tool fever BAD when you're on vacation like I am, with my family, at the beach, and part of you wishes you were back home so you could hit the sales and pick up some more goodies. :(
