The last piece from the second stop:

Some Iron work with Oak leaves and acorns cast in. This may wind up in a new gate we have planned.

All in all, a pretty good day!

Vintage Metal Tap and Die Chart and some misc wrenches (part of a bundle):
First, you ****. Second, a metal tap and die/decimal equivalent chart is on my list of things to keep an eye out for.

... more Powrkraft wrenches ...

Still collecting them? I found another DBE with the scalloped Barcalo ends.

Nearly complete SK 3/8" set( I NEED a 9/16,6pt deepwell)

Checked and I just have a mid length. You sure you don't need a 5/8? I've got lots of 5/8.

I can recover most of that with selling the 1022. Its pretty clean.

Kennedy's sell well? I passed on a top box this morning with a leather handle for $40 with some machinist stuff in it.

Spent all day driving around to sales with little to show for it. I did pick up this Snap On load tester and SK tool kit box for $10 but that was it.

Here are the results of my stop at an estate sale yesterday:

A Stephen Bader BIII belt grinder - 2 hp, single phase. It took two stout men to load it into the back of my Audi - it's a beast! The belt is 2" by 72".

This grinder is going to d bay.

A good buffer is always a treat - this is one of the two available:

And, of course, we can't leave a vise at a sale - Reed 109 3":

Nice sander, buffer is great and I love that lil Reed! I had a 4" a while back dated 1912.

Outlaw, killer cast iron piece, can't wait to see what you do with it.

Good scores y'all! Been running ragged today, only hit one sale and there were only a few antique tools, way overpriced along with a red roller and top box, master mechanic I think :dunno: I passed on that ****...

I went to a local sale at a guy who has had high prices in the past.

I was looking at a Kennedy steel machinist chest when he walked by and said - Anything not marked just ask!

So I asked and he said has it no front panel - $10.00. I almost hurt myself getting the money out. It has a plastic handle, no key, no front panel and the felt is in really good shape. The outside is a little dirty but no real dings, dents or rust. Just need to clean off a little bit of white paint splatter.

Sorry - no pics - it's been a busy day.

Are the panels all the same - just curious. I'm not likely to find a front panel in the wild - or I've never seen one before.

Cheers

All the panels are the same for the same width boxes but yeah, you probably will not find one in the wild though I'm sure they have to go somewhere when they disappear.

Am checking out a Gerstner front panel for Nine when I get back from Vacay on Monday. Happens I have an old 520 Kennedy in similar condition, was painted blue, but has the door. Post a pic or model # with the door dimensions, and I'll be happy to give it to you if it's a match, the whole box for parts, or just the door. I'd rather give these old boxes away to make another one complete. I have enough storage already.

Yeah I am still picking up the PowrKraft when I see it. I should probably stop as I have no idea what going to happen to all of it.

Nope,don't need a 5/8" I think just in SK deepwells I now have 4 : (

Yes the smaller ,hand carry Kennedys seem to sell decent. the last 1022 I had wasn't as nice as this one and it sold for $125 via CL.
Hopefully get a line in the water and start trolling tomorrow.

I went on a my birthday trip with my wife, A few miles before we got to our destination I spotted a Yard Sale sign that read Man's Yard Sale, and had to go see it. I had never seen so many tools, Big tools 3/4 drive and 1 inchers socket up to like 5 inch. Huge wrenches and most all were snap on. I picked out a set of small wrenches and then spotted what I wanted. Offered ***.00 and he sold it to me...I need a new pair of pants, mine are missing the pocket where I used to carry my bill fold, in other words I ripped my pocket off before he could change his mind. I didn't buy any of the big stuff, too rich for my blood...Rich... This is a KR560 Please tell me what they sell for in your area...thanks

RC: that Snap on roller is pretty cool and if you got it for $200 you didn't lose your wallet unless you call tripling your investment a loss. good solid box that i usually don't even look for because too spendy for me.

by the way did you get any of those 5 inch sockets or wrenches to show us?

Nines: good to hear you hired a pro to travel the US to find you a Gertsner.

BB: pretty cool stuff you brought up to sell or trade with Nines. so what's the guess on the time before Nines has the new garage full and is looking for a warehouse? it looks nice from the pictures and with his skills and storage talents i bet he only needs a couple old buses for any expansions if needed.

Hit up two places yesterday, first a vague craigslist post that stated "basement full of tools open Saturday 10-5". Okay, I'll check it out. Yea, guy is a full blown ******** wood tool collector. Must of been at least 200 hand planes there. At the least! AND, he knew exactly what he had and the value of them. After talking to him for awhile, he pulls out a locked case with two planes in there... a Stanley Sweetheart #1, and an Upson #0. Says the sweetheart (basically new, unused) goes for around $1400, and the Upson (1 of 4 or 5 known to exist) goes for around $4K! Maybe I should pay more attention to hand planes at flea markets....

Anyway, so I grabbed two things off of him:

That awesome lamp:

and a North Bro's Yankee #41 Bell System Push Drill:

$30 for both, $15 each is what he wanted... little steep for the Bell System, but I never saw one and wanted it for my collection.

Second stop was a guy I've been talking to for awhile, cleaning out his dad's place. Didn't have much, but I did snag a few things:

Half junk, then some =V= series CMan, some Dunlap, and a few other oddballs in there...

Like that giant Astrodome Zippo! missing the flint, but still, awesome!

Then, yea, found my second #41 on the day in this box! That one is a Stanley/North Bro's, but still, it has some of the bits missing from #1.

Also snagged this HF belt sander as well.

Second stop wasn't bad at all for $30...

Dang, that was a good deal. Are you going to keep it or sell it? Hopefully the slides aren't worn, it has the appearance of time spent in a body shop. How much did they want for the 5" sockets? If cheap enough I might of bought just for a conversation piece.

The KR560's sometimes vary in price. Usually selling in the $400-$800+/- range depending on condition. Occasionally you will see one listed in the $2k+ range, but then they sit for YEARS. A local guy hasn't taken that hint yet though.

Yeah, my box was also missing the front panel :(

I bought a Waterloo 3 drawer version of the 20" K 520 a couple of years ago and it was also missing the front panel. The people had another estate sale a month or so later, and I found the front lying back under one of the piles (well, the whole garage was one big pile with narrow paths... The girl even remembered I had previously bought the box and let me have it free.

That sort of thing doesn't happen often, but did again yesterday with those Penen wrenches! :dunno: and :rocker:

Well Happy birthday to you Richard! Great score with the box, but if the Sig other was with you, I wonder how she felt about the "side trip". One score may have caused the loss of another score!

Rick I love the magnifier lamp! That would get a place of honor on my desk for sure!

Details! Fluorescent? Is the magnifier glass or plastic?

And not to neglect everyone else's, finds; lots O' scores! I think this has been the busiest GS season in the three years the thread(s) for this have been running!

So my post Gas run finds for today; almost missed these, but the CL ad posted a pic of a large red tool box, and didn't even mention tools at all!

I was hoping for a truck box of some description, but it was the HF 44. decent price (300) only 6 months old, but I left it there.

I did get for $5, a 6" Kant Twist clamp, and a Crescent 8/10" double head adjustable:

I made an offer on a couple of different socket sets that he had but He wouldn't go under 500.00 on either set. But I did get to see one of the best looking 1 inch snap on socket set with removable head ratchet and all of the extras plus the air impact, Just too much money for me to be carrying on a birthday trip. This was the estate from a heavy equipment mechanic from eastern Oregon. The guy told me that he had brought up 5 of the biggest U-Haul truck loads of tools and had to leave a lot of the big shop equipment behind, like compressor and mills behind, He only had a few days to get the shop cleared out, Before the lease was up and the landlord locked him out of the shop.

I passed on a bright green craftsman screwdriver, has anyone ever seen anything like that? I've seen orange ones before but not green.

Yes they came in Green, Orange, Red, and I think Yellow and Blue. From the mid 90's IIRC. Basic screwdriver, nothing special IMHO. :dunno:

Outlaw, those little finger dollies are pretty handy inside door panels and similar awkward spots when you're working out a dent.

Haven't had the chance to see if its fluorescent or halogen yet, by the looks of it (single pin) possibly halogen. And that magnifier is solid glass, the whole thing is a pretty heavy beast ;)

not much today. i walked the aisles 4 times trying to get a fix and only ended up with a *" set of vise grips, a mini set of vise grips, and a 12" proto adustable wrench. ive got a ton of adjustables but no proto or a 12" so it was a nice score at 6 bucks for the lot.

I inherited some tools from my late father-in-law. This represents about 1/5 of what was in the basement, and there's more in the garage and a little more at their other property. I only accepted what I can use right now. My mother-in-law wants me to look through the rest of it next time we're visiting. No problem. He inherited lots of tools from his father and father-in-law.

In no particular order:
