Finally found a compressor in my price range on CL. Not a screaming deal but for the size of it and the price im happy. It's an older model from Orschlens 220v 5 hp 2 stage 14.8 cfm 60 gal tank. $300

Also got this Athol 614 1/2 vise from the same guy for $20

Well I spent a little time cleaning up the Plomb tool box and tools,

Yea I thought it looked good enough to leave alone and not refinish it.

As for finding that many Plombs I was very surprise to see it!

4 Flea Markets and a TOO today. The weather was good, the FM's were crowded, and the prices were high. I saw a craftsman crown top machinists box and a craftsman long-c 2-drawer top box that I wanted to take home. It was painful, but I had to walk away from them both. The sellers were asking top dollar ($75 and $100, "because they're old") and wouldn't budge because of the large crowds of potential buyers (that weren't buying). I'm certain that they had to load them up at the end of the day.

My mission today was to find an electric chainsaw and electric hedge trimmer. Why ? Because my cousin came up from NJ yesterday to help my grandfather with some yard work. My cousin, like my BIL, is one of those people who should have their opposable thumbs repossessed (thumbs just make them think they can use tools ). Everytime he uses the riding mower, I have to spend half a day fixing it afterwards. Yesterday he managed to burn out my grandfather's chainsaw and strip the gears on the trimmer, then he went home. So, now I have to replace them.

No luck on the trimmer, but I did find an electric chainsaw at my last stop. It's a new(ish) Poulan that I got for $15. (no picture, it went straight to gramps on the way home)

The first FM yielded :

Hit up the infamous Columbus Flea Market in the dirty jerz with a friend this morning.... first time there, and damn that place is huge! Hit up probably 8-9 vendors, few bucks here, few bucks there... a beautiful day, and a lot of sellers asking absurd prices for some items.





A complete Hinsdale set, and a few wrenches...



A Ice-O-Mat, a metric dbe =v=, and the mirror / coat rack I need to clean up for the girl I was with... peeling a tad on the top, not sure if it was thick lacquer or a thing veneer yet...



Good amount of Proto all over this flea market, some here, some there... Oh, and a monster of a Bonney socket.




Deep =V= CMan's, and two other definitely keepers, the Bonney and the WF-50 socket.

Including food and drinks, around a $100 spent today, not too shabby.

2 stops today,one was the last day of a 3 day sale the other was a CL find by Jerry that was closer to me than him.
Estate Sale netted me a Cornwell 1/2" socket,a pair of sockets by proto but with a gold tint also stamped Chrysler MTSC Award?
an Indestro Select 4 1/2" extension and 1/4"to 3/8" adapter, a HuskyCS43 ratchet that looks alot like an SK ratchet in 1/2" drive ,but the head diameter appears to be smaller.I'll have to pull out an SK and compare,and a package of brass plated bullet catches all for $1.25








The next stop was a 20 min ride south to find this:

If it's an aftermarket radio do you have the power hooked up to the red and the yellow wire? Sometimes you need both.

I did, but I am going to go through the connections and make sure they are good. I may solder them just to make sure. I just did some quick electrical tape connections. It will light up so I know the ground and light circuit are good. I need to do some searching to see about testing stereos. Looking at some stuff now. I will get it figured out. I will either fix it, or I will learn alot about fixing it.

Oh and to stay on topic that athol vise deal above is awesome.

Fire alarm wire was 4 bucks at a resale shop
Everything else was 5 bucks!

Coax cables, Liquid Wrench and 3 in 1 oil, ground clamp, 2 Schlage locks, pair of Diamond/Duluth snips, 2 small Stanley screwdrivers.

Not much was found this weekend. I stopped by my MIL's neighbor's estate sale. Found these items for the grand total of $1.50. Also bought 3 unused full sheet sandpaper packets (from the 70's or 80's I think, based on the graphics and lack of barcodes) for 25¢ each.

There are so many threads now, dealing with "show us your new tools", "what is your best deal this year", "garage sale thread", "what did you do in your garage today", etc., that I am hesitant to even post because I don't know where to post.

Anyway . . . .

Today I picked up a few items I won in this week's local online "estate" auction.

First, there is this floor jack:

It is a Walker 4-ton long-body floor jack. Needs complete cleaning, rebuild of jack pump, etc. I got it for $13.

Next, is an OTC 10-ton porta-power:

It has a huge 2-1/2" x 10" stroke ram, and a large reservoir pump.
I'll go through it and replace seals, o-rings, etc. I paid $5 for it. The listing said "grease gun, as-is", so it was kinda mis-labeled, and nobody else bid on it.

Thirdly, was the item I really wanted:

For those who don't recognize this, it is an OTC air/hydraulic pump (10,000 psi), connected to a Gates hydraulic hose crimper.
I don't really have a use for the crimper, and it didn't come with any dies anyway, but that 10k psi foot-operated hydraulic pump is AWESOME! I cleaned it up, changed the air fitting and tested it, and it worked great! Oh, I paid $91 for the pump/crimper, expecting to have to buy a $100 seal/gasket kit for the pump, but won't have to now.

I swapped around a few things, and came up with this combination:

10k psi pump, with 2-1/2" x 10" ram. I plan to use this setup to overhaul my hydraulic press.

By the end of the day, this is where I was, having torn down the ram and cleaned it up, and identified the two seals I'll need to replace to refresh it:

Anyone need a Gates hydraulic hose crimper with no dies?
It is really heavy, and will be costly to ship, but I will sell it cheap.

Just a quick update.
I spent $37 on a seal kit for the 25 ton porta-power ram, honed it and rebuilt it, and it works AWESOME. 25 tons can stretch/break/ distort just about anything!

I rebuilt the 10-ton porta-power hand pump using o-rings I had in-stock.

I spent $4.53 on a seal for the Gates hydraulic hose crimper, and rebuilt it.
So, with a total investment of $119.35 on the original auction, plus $37 for seal kit and 4.53 for a seal, was into everything for $160.88

I sold the Gates crimper today on eBay for $197.73 plus shipping, for a cash profit of $37.15

That, plus the FREE floor jack, FREE 25-ton ram AND rebuild parts, FREE air/hydraulic pump, and FREE 10-ton porta-power hand pump.

I LOVE free tools!!

All the wrenches are plomb. Some are Wright field while the doe is a war finish. The metric collets are not marked but are 1-4 mm
The piler combo is a Dimalloy handyboy. Never seen those before so I grabbed it and the vise lockdown will come in handy if you have recently checked the vise thread

Nice find bigcaddy, I've been on the lookout for a pair of those combo pliers myself (the original pliers wrench??). I don't know why because I don't like slip joint pliers or adjustable wrenches but when you combine them somehow they become more than the sum of their parts.

Picked up this tool box for $15. The hinge was rusted pretty bad on the left side. Someone forced it open and separated the hinge from the box and lid. I got it free and riveted it back together. The center lock is locked with no key, but otherwise a nice box.

You want them? I noticed a small, hairline crack in the slip joint so i don't think they will sell on ebay as planned.

Honest Bob: i just found a Union box almost identical to yours except mine has 3 drawers instead of the machinist model. i do like the advertisement on the top lid yours has. i posted pictures on the vintage toolbox thread and yours could post there too if you would like to add it over there. nice box and price.

Started looking ahead for the upcoming domestic projects and figured I should get a power washer. A quick search in craigslist netted me this: craftsman 6 hp, 2400 psi with a Briggs motor, pump needs attention, doesn't have any pressure. $25. Motor runs fine, just need to start learning about pump rebuilding. The owner said his mechanic fixed it last spring relatively quickly and it is exhibiting the same symptoms. We shall see...
