You guys have been making killer scores this summer !

Kept away for the most part from sales this season.
Got a few things , typical stuff.

Hit a family run estate sale this morning.
Total of $9.75.

Top hammer is Snap-on
Cutters are Fulton.
Dolly will get a work over with some J-flex belts on the Burr-King and a mirror polish.
Body file handle needs some work on the tapped hole for attaching the file.
The breaker bar speaks for its self

It's shaping up to be a disappointing weekend so far. No sales worth going to on friday, and only 2 this morning. The first had tools, but they were all newer chinese junk. The second one was a lie. Sunday isn't looking any better.

I finally hit on something decent today. Totally by accident too. Went to the hardware store to pick up some things and saw the sign on my way back. Whole place was pretty picked over but I dug around and found some cool stuff. The guy running it was pretty much giving it all away at that point. So all of this cost me one whole dollar.
The snips are Wiss and still seem in pretty good shape. Brown & Sharpe drill gauge. a weird little knife, a few little levels, some cute little screwdrivers, the yankee drill is Great Neck and has most of the bits still. (I remember using something similar as a kid so I had to get it)

Great finds guys. It seems to be slowing down quite a bit around here. Nice weekend, yet very few sales. $20 got me this lot. There are 40 stainless drawer pulls in the bag, the trimmer is like new, but needs a pull cord (I broke it). Ax is a plumb, Ryobi sander is new and USA, has a number of new sheet packs in the box. One sale advertised "tools tools and even more tools", it was anything but.

If I can just find a gas blower asap I'll be set for those darn leaves.

Picked up an S-K 1/2" ratchet and a quart of MMO. Paid a dollar each.

Nice, is that ratchet black oxide finish or is the chrome just that far gone?

More pictures of that axe please! Most people on this board are Plomb fans, I happen to be one of the few Plumb fans. It looks newer though, so I don't know.

Went to a family run estate/tool sale this morning. Got there early and they let me in! It was great, grabbed a 5gal bucket and walked around the garage filling it up all by myself.

Nothing looked that promising tool wise this weekend so the signiificant other and myself just hit a bunch of estates sales in no particular order.

First stop was 1/2 off final day at an estate sale. Scrounged through cardboard boxes of picked over basic homeowners tools and found the following.

Indestro Super 1/4" SAE socket set which I found in a crappy dime store plastic socket case. You never know, you got to check stuff closely $1.50

IMG_0613_zps2ad9e718.jpg

Klein side cutters $0.50

IMG_0617_zpsf126c171.jpg

Rest of the day was a bust tool wise but at least good lunch was had.

Nice finds this weekend everyone

I beleive it had a black oxide finish. There is not a trace of chrome on it except for the selector knob yet there is not the deep rust pitting normally found on a tool where the rust has taken the chrome off.

I think the ratchet is very old. I have another one with the same exact patent and model numbers but the newer one has an oval handle and is chromed. This one has no chrome and the handle is round.

No chance to hit any garage sales today but a quick stop at the local consignment shop found this Craftsman box from probably the 1940's I'm guessing. It had been on the shelf long enough to be marked 1/2 off. It's been re-painted but overall in great shape with the tray inside. $12
Tool Box 10:25-1.jpgTool Box 10:25-2.jpg

With hunting season upon us they also had a sale on used arrows for $1 each. They will need new flatting and some need tips but after I fix them it will still turn out a good deal.

Great finds. Nothing in any of those pics that I would not want for my collection. Especially at such great prices.

I found 3 auctions within driving distance that advertised tools today! I chose the one that sounded like it had the most vintage tools. The old Case tractors and Case and Deere crawlers were cool, too, but unfortunately I couldn't hang around long enough to watch those go.
I bought a couple trays of stuff, a giant Blackhawk lug wrench (which didn't make it into the photos), and a Craftsman Crown hand box full of old tools. It didn't come cheap, but it had a lot of surprises:

From the top-an OTC rolling pry bar, Channelock dykes, 440s, 430s, needlenose, and Champion dykes. Plomb punch, 2 no-name BP hammers, Vaco wiring tool, Kraeuter dykes, Diamond ignition pliers, very old Utica duckbill pliers, Crescent needlenose, Millers Falls and Dunlap feeler gauges, old Cman screwdrivers, and Bridgeport and Walden offset drivers.

Blackhawk offset DBE, 6 New Britain combos, New Britain obstruction wrench, Proto Los Angeles 6" and Crestoloy 4" adjustables, Husky combo, 3 New Britain flare wrenches, a Blackhawk wedg-head wrench (my first), 2 Plomb and 4 Proto pebble line wrenches, a modified Williams flare nut/open end wrench, and smaller combos by different makers. More to come...

Part 2:
This box had more Plomb than I've ever seen in the wild before...

Plomb WF 1/2" breaker, Plomb 3/8" sliding t-handle, breaker bar, and u-joint, Plomb WF 3/8" speeder and long extension, Williams 3/8" flex ratchet, 2 SO 3/8" ratchets, SO 1/2" ratchet adapter, New Britain 1/2" to 3/4" adapter, 3/8" extension, 1/2" extension, 1/2" universal, Thorsen 1/2" extension, SK 1/4" spinner handle, and a Duro Chrome long 3/8" extension.

Finally, the sockets:

Top row is Snap-On: homemade deepwell 3/4" drive socket, unmolested 3/4" drive socket, 2 wartime sockets, an 8-point impact, screwdriver bit, weatherhead socket, and 2 crowfoots.
Second row is NAPA and New Britain
Third row is Williams, Williams, Sunex, Wright, (Unbranded-only a B in a circle?), OTC, Thorsen, and Walden
Fourth row is Proto Los Angeles, Proto Professional, Proto by Plomb, Plomb WF, Plomb WF, Plomb WF, Plomb USN, Plomb, Plomb, Plomb
Fifth row is 5 SKs, 3 Bonney (the first is a PWA number), and 4 Craftsman
Finally, 6 Duro/Indestro "D-I" wartime 3/8" drive sockets.

Detail of what's left of the copper fire extinguisher. I'm going to use it as an office garage can.

I really like that coat rack.

Ditto!

I've got only one thing to show since I went hunting again Thursday, Fri, and Sat AM. got home this afternoon.

But last weekend one of my hunting buddies gave me this workstation arm lamp; It will take up to a 300W flood lamp! I'll probably hook it up where my welding bench is. it needs better lighting.

Not much scores today but I got a Mac 12mm wrench and a 13 and 17 open ended wrench for 50 cents total at a local pawn shop. The open ended one was a little dark, but marked W. Germany and in a size I didn't have. The Mac was nice and shiny. It is a little greasy and under my truck at the moment so no pics. Put it right to work.

Had some luck this weekend, picked up the following a few blocks from my house; 2 new screwdriver sets, $10 each, and the wrench set for $20. He aslo had a roll front snap on tool chest, in white. He was asking $200, I thought it was a bit much, missing wheels, side handle, and front latch on the aluminum door.

Kinda looks like a loading dock light, used for lighting up the inside of trailers.

How long are the arms?

Sounds like an old roll a bench, was the condition of the box that bad (rust paint, dents wise)? Sounds like it was repainted white, missing casters is a bit odd. Good score on the screwdrivers and wrenches though.

Hit a few sales this week, including 2 estate sales and one Craigslist ad.
First up was a CL ad selling tools out of a storage unit.Guy was nice enough to let me scrounge and pick through as he didn't have prices or an idea of what all he wanted to sell. Made him an offer of $75 and he countered at $100 for this lot:
009 (Large).jpg
010 (Large).jpg
011 (Large).jpg
013 (Large).jpg
012 (Large).jpg
Included large Snap On 12 point SAE set, 2 SK sets ,wrenches from Proto ,Blackhawk,Craftsman,Bonney, and more all for $100.

Second stop netted this steel tune up cabinet for $20.
A friend is trying to equip/set up his barn so this should be a welcomed piece.
