Thanks Lowbuck! We hit the flea today but the only thing there was a blacksmith forge, slightly over priced for condition so we stopped by the pawn shop and a few garage sales on the way back to town. It was looking pretty pitiful until I got a text from someone I contacted from CL yesterday, he had a "machinest tools" ad(his spelling) so I quickly changed vehicles and stopped by for a look. The guy's brother was a drill press operator for a machine company here and lost his job, fell on hard times. It only took a couple drawers to convince me to whip out the cash. I got the two boxes and contents for $125, I'll post up contents as I get them unloaded. We accidentily laid the box down loading so everything is crazy right now. Be back soon with pics.

Interested to see what all was inside. Hopefully nothing was damaged.

I know ZK, it hurt my heart to hear the things crash around inside but luckily nothing looks damaged.
Here we go, SEVERAL NOS Starrett pieces but everything on the table(first 2 pics) is Starrett!! "willy_nil
Couple questions, what are tap extractors and how are they used, and any idea wtf those half sphere things are in the 4th pic?
Nine great score! looks like the tap extractors have never been used except for that middle one, as it has the obligatory bent/munged fingers. the good news is I think they sell those separately. That big one outside the box is scarey; I can't imagine breaking a tap that size! I don't think I've ever broken one larger than 1/4"
No clue on the spherical things, pic isn't clear enough
Nice scores, Nine.
Can't beat the screws for 3. I always ****** them wheni come across.
It's OK if you use the yogo mat, really.... You don't have to pass off as liners.
Things seem to be drying up around here for now. I went to 4 iffy YS's and only came away with a yoga mat for $2 (for drawer liners) and a 6' Lufkin metal folding rule for 50¢.

Picked this up from a craigslist ad this morning. Seller was asking $80 with a home-made wood cabinet on wheels as a base, got it for $50 by itself. Not pristine, but certainly not abused either. I like the drawer layout. Seller was super nice, also picked up a really cool DAM Quick fishing reel, and he threw in an old oak ammo box. Plans are to use it as is for the time being, but hope to refinish it when I get a chance.

If it has "Japan BF" stamped on the bottom, it was Daido. You got a great price on a nice basic vise. When at estate sales, I always watch for the USA on the side and if I don't see it, I know its Japan made. Still good quality imho.
I was at a sale once and they had a similar 5 inch Cman for 25.00 and the guy running the sale was a jerk, so I asked him was it made in the USA, he said hell yeah, I said if I go through the trouble of unbolting it from the bench and find Japan BF on the bottom will you give it to me for 1/2 price, he said sure, but assured me it was made in USA. 5 minutes later I walked out with it for 1/2 price.
Nine, I think the spherical things might be quick release hose ends, can't tell from the pic, but it looks like you might only have one end type. they are usually used for water at moderate pressure but one of yours looks like it's hooked up to an airline fitting. Sometimes the big engine driven compressors use them as well on 1" airlines.

G-sales have pretty much dried up and the only thing left is overpriced estate sales. A few odds and ends:
53 lbs of lead for $5.

Thanks! It does say "Japan BF" stamped into the bottom of the swivel base.
This vise will likely be used as a replacement for a small exposed screw Columbian that is currently my light work vise. Just have to straighten the handle out a bit.
Those half sphere things are for use with the trammel sets in the other picture. They're used on one trammel point to center up in an existing hole so a measurement can be made or arc scribed a set distance from the hole center.
You **** and I hate you! I can almost never find lead weights for sale and when I do people want $5+ for even tiny 16oz weights.
I know ZK, it hurt my heart to hear the things crash around inside but luckily nothing looks damaged.

Lead is about as welcome here as a person in the final stages of incurable Ebola
I find it in 50 lb piles nearly 2 times a month. The best haul was an old dirty garage with at least 400 lb in the back corner.
What do you do with your lead. Cast bullets or fishing weights?
