It's all locked up so we would be the only ones in there when it opens up

As for the price, I had to shell out 95.00 for the whole pile

Does anybody know what the snap on gauge set is for?

If that includes the bridge city tools then no one has ever sucked more than you and a hate all that you are and stand for. First a 5198 now this. You definitely have a horseshoe up your ****.

Of course I don't hate you but I am jealous.

Some nice scores this week for sure everyone.

I moved a few weeks ago and it's taking me some time to get the feel for my new environs, I made it out to my first estate sale in my new area this morning. It was the second day of a family run sale that I was told had already been gone over heavily but I managed some things I can use.

Craftsman =V= 3/4" drive SAE socket set in metal crown-top box, everything in excellent shape but filthy, sockets from 15/16"-2", ratchet, 8" and 16" extensions and sliding tee. Irwin auger set, 1/4"-1", adjustable cutter with spare blade and straight screwdriver blade all in vinyl roll, Proto brass sledge, Armstrong-Bray puller, 12 piece Swiss file set in plastic box, Vaco offset screwdriver that was rolled up with the augers, 1/4" drive flexible extension, Snap-on 1/4" drive handle and ratchet and three 1" Pony spring clamps.

Nice score on the 3/4dr set.
I've been slowly building a pre quick release 3/4dr =V= set for some time now, and still don't have a driver yet. It isn't easy to find any of the pieces at affordable prices. Very jealous. Good job.

Nice freebee score there. I need to move to a better neighborhood where people actually put out stuff that's good. :dunno:

Thanks man and you don't necessarily have to move to a better neighborhood, just pass through them the night before trash pickup and on the weekends

We have two trucks pass by here EVERY trash night with a bed full, looking for more. One of them just passed by minutes ago and had what looked like a lawnmower, set of school lockers and a basketball goal in back. I want to flag them down one day and tell them to start stopping by and let me shop their finds but I never know what time their coming through :lol_hitti

I was cruising CL earlier and saw an ad for "lots of tools $60" with a fuzzy pic of all the tools below, it interested me enough to go check it out. On the way out of our neighborhood, I see the Miller Light cooler by the curb, of course I had to stop...It was free... :D

When I got to the tools, I looked them over and offered $40, he countered $50 where we settled. There is a HF vertical compressor, smaller Ridgid compressor, Craftsman miter saw(needs switch but ran hotwired), Skill 3x18 belt sander, Dewalt 4.5" paddle grinder, two Porter Cable brad nailers, Black & Decker skill saw, Ryobi scroll saw and an air pressure gauge NIB.:willy_nil

$150 from the GJ classifieds! I've never seen a Kennedy wall cabinet before (back left). Not sure on the white ones, but they do have shelves.

Stopped by a pawn shop. Picked up this pair of Utica 506-10 tongue and groove pliers for $1. I didn't really need another set, but they are unique. I have never seen jaws quite like these. Also picked up some small xcelite needle nose for 50c. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1418154939.616709.jpg

If you put some rubbing (isopropol) alcohol on a rag and rub the grips on those xcelite pliers I would bet that about 99% of that discoloration will come right off and will make them look like a million bucks. Same process usually works well on any rubber-coated plier handles like Channellock, etc.

I will give it a try. The handles are thick and soft. They say ESD safe on them.

Those cabinets are nice. And I think you got a deal.

Those Utica pliers have what are generically referred to as "nut buster" jaws. Channellock makes their Model 410 with a similar configuration. They are very adept at holding on to hex nuts. I pick up any decent pair of Utica pliers that I find. At one time Utica was one of the finest producers of pliers and adjustable wrenches in the country.

Huh I didn't know that. Good tip to know.

Those pliers work well with cylindrical objects. They'll grab just like a pipe wrench and are handy for removing studs.

Those Uticas are their version of channelock's Nutbuster pliers. Nice find, I didn't know Utica ever made them.

Should have looked further, Co-pilot already said this...:withstupi

ShadowRuleZ those cabinets look great!

Anyone have any tips on where to go in the San Diego area? I'll be there for work, and have the coming weekend to explore. I didn't want to put up a thread for this question, and I figure the people who might have info I want will be reading this thread.

One stop today, saving my cash for tomorrow's auction. I scored a Johnson sliding bevel and Craftsman extension and two ratchets for $0.50 each and the Malco adjustable for $1, spent $3. I thought the wrench said "Matco", I need glasses :lol_hitti

Is the Malco USA made? I have Metco and Metcoid USA made tools that always fools you at first into thinking Matco.

I'll bet that adjustable was made on contract by Crescent. that brown translucent coating looks identical to the green Crescent used on theirs

This has been on the watch list for a while. It's some big rail - over 6" tall. About 18" long and probably ~50 lbs. Bethlehem steel.

Nice find! You going to shape it?

Nah. I'm going to keep it around as something to bang on when I need it.

This must have been a cutoff from a new installation. The rail is unused and the near end in the picture is straight and square, as one would expect right from the mill. The other end was cut with a torch. I may spend some time grinding the rough end to clean it up a little.

Yes it's U.S.A., that was one of the factors making me think it said Matco...

Casting looks identical.

Nine and Jake, dang nice stuff.

Nine, malco makes HVAC tools, mostly sheet metal stuff, top notch. I bet that the adjustable wrench is from them.

I picked up these two 3/8 drive Cman ratchets for $7 each. They cleaned up fine but the tear drop ratchet doesn't have the retaining clip to hold the selector switch in. Everything else was there, but not clip.
Does anyone know where to get that clip? I can't find any in my google searches.

Thanks, John

They're not available without buying a full kit on ebay. However, if your local Sears isn't staffed by idiots, you may be able to take it to them and ask for a repair. They may have a spare laying around out back, but it depends on if their repair guy is on duty when you go. Just don't let them talk you into an exchange.

x2, I hit up the ones their about to melt down for spare parts every once in awhile... or, if you have the Sears Hardware (or an Ace), check the Hillman bins, should be able to find the clip in one of those.

Or what you could do is....steal the clip in Jake's avatar. :bounce:

Bone chilling winds out at the new flea market. Everybody's stuff blowing around, lids flying off pots and pans. Vendors with icicles hanging from their noses. Those die hards .

Grabbed a few goodies.

Williams pair of really nice almost pristine 3/8" B-50 ratchets with plugs.
Action 3/8 ratchet and extension
Allen 3/8 flex ratchet
Williams combo wrenches
Blue Point oldie wrench
Craftsman pocket socket wrench

Hit up the **** end of an estate sale too.

Crescent wrench open end set (no 3/8 x 7/16 :() - Looks S-K made.

OTC adjustable

and some Craftsman drivers.
