I wanted to prepare a big speech on this but 1, you guys don't care to read, you want pics...and 2, I'm not good with speeches...

For you new guys, please take a minute(few days) to catch up on previous seasons. This thread is for members to show and tell what they found at garage sales, estate sales, flea markets, CL, boot sales(for you guys across the pond) and items found by the roadside...

Season One <---click here

Season Two <---click here

Season Three <---click here

I'd like to give a major shout out to Jeff Moss for cranking this off to begin with in the first thread. Also maddawg308, who is no longer with us for starting the second thread and last but certainly not least, Outlaw for the most successful season yet, the 2014 thread...

I want to wish you guys a safe and prosperous 2015, get out there and show us what you found!

Excellent first post!
We have a couple of sales tomorrow so I'll be out looking for my first real post of the year.

Good luck everyone.

Nines: best of luck with all your finds and thanks for semi volunteering to run the show this year.

All: well it's not quite the new year yet here on the left coast, but i can already feel good things in the works. as i get organized i'll hopefully be able to post a few more of my finds this year because i always enjoy looking to see what all of you pick up in your travels.

I know there has been several WTF is this tool threads, but I usually pick up one or more of those weekly and wonder if anybody else wants to have a 101 thread for them or just put them in this thread again?

Happy New Year guys (and gals) of GJ and to the lurkers that might soon become members too

And we are off! (well I will be into the new year in 45 min or so..)

I probably won't have anything to show till Saturday (maybe...) cause CL is dead, dead, dead!

Thanks Nine, for doing the kickoff!

What happened to maddawg308?

I work with maddawg, he is essentially my boss at one of my jobs, and a good friend. He turned me onto this site a while back. Mike's mouth gets him into trouble a lot though, he is quite opinionated. I asked him once why he doesn't post here anymore, especially since he recommended this site, he paused and replied "Mind your own, get back to work." Guess once again his mouth wrote a check his **** couldn't cash, or something like that. Anyways...

Subscribed! Looking forward to posting more tools and finds at the yard sales around here....

I just picked up what I hope will be my most expensive garage sale find of all. Last month I was at an estate sale with a lot of tools when I noticed a John Deere compact utility tractor in the back of the barn and asked if it was for sale. Turned out it was for sale and it was cheap. Fast forward through a few weeks of negotiation and now I'm the proud new owner of a 4x4 diesel compact tractor with a front end loader, a belly mower, and a post hole auger. The machine has low hours and everything is in great shape and best of all I paid about 30% of the new price. I've already got a set of pallet forks on the way for the FEL, no more heavy lifting for me!

Best of luck in 2015 guys.

Thanks. To be honest I've never been a huge JD fan but this machine is really sweet, it's small and maneuverable but has a lot of power, especially when compared to my old Ford 2N. I'm really looking forward to using the FEL with the forks, it seems like I'm always trying to rig up some way to lift something big and heavy and this will be a game changer for me.

I'm looking forward to this thread again this year. I had a blast last year and all I can say is thanks for allowing me to be a part of it.Thanks to Outlaw for his emcee duties last year and to Nine4gmc for taking the reins this year.
My first few weeks every year are entrenched in work as it is our busiest season. Not a lot of sales in the cold winter either. But I am optimistic that Craigslist may help ,although there are plenty of folks here on GJ in my neighborhood.

Nick we seriously need pics of the JD. This year I hope to add a compact tractor to the fleet myself. Hoping to score as nice a find as you did. Especially since yours is a diesel. Thats going to be great!

Subscribed. After spending the last half of 2014 out of commission for health reasons, I am healthy and ready to get back at it. I look forward to seeing what others find this year and sharing my finds. Hope all have a great year!

Well, here's a pic of something...

I keep a bucket in the garage. Whenever I score a C-clamp I drop it in the bucket when I get home. At some point I empty the bucket and go through the clamps to clean, lube straighten and add them to the collection.

So while these were bought last year they won't officially be added to the arsenal until this year. It's sort of a half-and-half deal.

:lol_hitti

By the way, I'm a C-clamp snob. I only buy forged clamps. No cast for me, sorry.

BJ: so can you say why you prefer forged over cast clamps? also what brands do you really like? any tips on repairing them or are you just straightening the little lever handles? since half the clamps i find you can barely see a name or what's under the rust is there a tell tale method to tell the difference you use?

Beat: that's a stout box isn't it? I'm going to spiff up my red Blackhawk box that is similar and probably put some of my older wrenches in it because i don't have a ton of Blackhawk tools yet. is yours missing a drawer or is that the design.

Craptain, that sale was on my estate.net notification. Too far for me though, but I was thinking the photos looked like some decent tools was there.
Nice finds and congrats on the first photo post.
