Bluebolt- nice free grabs.

BlueBomber- so you were in the area this week and didn't hit me up?

Looking good everybody.
Sorry, 3bay--I was only in Buffalo for a couple of hours and didn't think to check if it was the hometown of any of my GJ acquaintances.

He was poaching in your area and didn't want to get caught. [emoji38]_hitti

Poaching, heck. That probably explains why I didn't find much at any of the stops --3bay likely got all the good stuff first!

I don't believe they (Emerson, the Craftsman radial saw manufacturer) are giving the tables & guards now, it's just the refund. I just sent in a motor/trolley last week for my refund. I had two, sold one working great that I'd had for probably 25 years, and kept the newer. next time I went to use it, the motor died. So, off came the motor, and when I got the Emerson return box, off it went. I haven't yet received the refund check.

I have a 12" Craftsman RAS I bought new in 1979, 220 volts, no split-phase (110-220) capability, still going strong, and I have a spare motor for it I acquired years-ago.

CD, Nice finds!

There is a recall on that era of RA saw from Craftsman. if you google it there will be a site where you put in the model & S/N, and it will offer one of two resolutions for the saw, depending on model & S/N:
  1. Send in the motor and slide assy, (they wil send you a prepaid box) or
  2. they will provide a "repair kit" with new table and some guard parts.

Correct, I called (took me several days, and even left a message and they called back ONE time a day later and I missed it) and the guy told me they ran out of guards like 2 or 3 years ago... Don't waste your time calling just fill the info out online for a box and be patient.

Another Letgo score!

$20. Total. And under 2 miles from home! I'm going to restore that bullet nose Craftsman, keeping that, it's awesome. The other big guy... Any idea on the maker? Thinking maybe a newer Wilton?

I'll remember that. I thought someone said they got a kit a while back, but it could be 2-3 years back... (Time Flies!...)

Stopped in at a YS on the way to the lumber yard this morning. Lots of tools left. All of them abused imports. Left empty handed.

Rick, that craftsman looks like my vise almost, what's the model number? I gave $25 just for my craftsman vise I think it was, I'd have to check for the post from earlier this year or late last year.

Been so busy lately I haven't had time to drop by here and see all of everyone's new goodies. I did find time to go visit my folks a couple weekends ago and hit some estate sales while I was there. I brought home my usual ridiculous haul, but it's hard to argue because when I tallied it all up I was only in all this stuff about $230. The wooden machinists chest in the picture is excluded from that price, I'll do a separate post on it by itself (it was full of tools).
Full disclosure, some of you will remember a few of these items from a previous post a few weeks back where I got a block grinder, 2 columbian vises, and some odds and ends for $15 - I lumped those items in this picture also to send it to another friend, but I did include that $15 in the $230 total.
Some of the highlights:
Compressor/hose/airgun
Two 1/2HP block grinders
Columbian 503 vise
10" Craftsman Wood vise
Wilton 8 643-1/2 bench vise
PowrKraft drill index
5 carry boxes, 3 Cman, Powrkraft, and an unnamed 3rd (cost $0.50)
Tons of taps/dies
5 different Akro-Mils storage bin boxes
Craftsman hatchet

More to come when I find time to dig through this more and post pictures!

Picked up a CM 5196 vise last week. Been wanting a heritage logo one. I really like the huge bullnose with the grooves.

Rick, if that Craftsman has a damaged swivel base I have a parts static jaw with a good swivel.

Some nice finds here lately- Here's a couple items I picked up- first is a kick press from CL- I have no use for it, but it sure does look cool in the garage! (paid $45)
I may re-purpose the base at some time down the road.

Next are a couple of tiny hammers all that was left on the 2nd day of an estate sale- somehow they always follow me home.

That "kickpress" is a cool tool. I would end up using it instead of a vise for many things.

Well the day started out crappy. Not many interesting looking sales and as I headed to the last one which advertised "lots of tools" 40 miles from my house I was worried I would strike out.

Get there and "earlybirds" who got there yesterday before the sale started had cleaned out most of the tools.

But this 27 drawer metal cabinet was still there! Don't know the manufacturer, the decal is mostly gone. It has some hardware in it yet.

Also picked up these Kason leveling feet with a 2000 pound rating PER FOOT, a milk crate FULL of casters, Craftsman early -V- 3/8 speed handle, a parts tub and a couple of clamps for tying slide in campers to trucks.

Spent $52 total.

I know some people like the "after" story. I thought about keeping the parts cabinet which turned out to be made by Hobart. In the end I decided I had too much stuff and not enough money for my 1968 Ford Torino GT convertible project so I put it on Craigslist for $150. Was offered $75 for it but declined, told them $100 was minimum I would take. So it was on Craigslist for a while then yesterday a guy called wanting it BAD, he was 4 hours away north of Dallas. So today he came and picked it up, paid my full asking of $150! I asked him why he wanted it so bad and he said his buddy had the EXACT same one for his gun supplies and loading equipment and it worked really great so he started looking for one and was happy to get an identical one!

I was obviously mistaken about your need for more vises. Great find.

I thinned the herd last couple months.

There's I need, and then there's I need because it exists and I need to save it. I just want to get a few more of the CMs and I'm done, really. Seriously:lol_hitti

Did you see the thread on the restore on the long c vise. Another target to hit.

Thanks , good hearing from you Andrew. Sail safe.

I am like Craptain, that "kickpress" is great looking and agree would come in handy as a substitute small vise.

Out to sale today and picked up a few things.

Pic 1--Looks like a complete and unused Delta Motising Attachement Kit #17-905 for use with Delta 14-040 14" and 17-900 16-1/2 drill press

Pic 2 & 3--5 piece Mortising Set unopened and sold by Eagle Tool Co as item # RRMBC5

Pic 4 & 5-- Craftsman level 9-39925-28 inch, Johnson Square #RAS-70, Little Wizzard II metal detector, pair of hardware kits for bachelor chair #9869, 4 old black hinges.

Pic 6 & 7--ASCO Steelmaster (i.e. Art Steel Sales Corporation New York) stackable pair of card file cabinets with ASCO pedestal. 14-1/2" wide by 16" deep by 18" high when all stacked up on pedestal.

Got this from the neighbor that's moving. I paid $25 and it runs pretty smooth so I'm happy with the deal.

This is a culmination of 3 weeks of garage, yard, and estate sales that I've gone to and just got around to posting it. Ill break this up into each week.

Craftsman 10" RAS - Its one of the recall ones, gonna cash in the recall. . .

What's the deal on that recall? Which models are involved?

Thanks.
