2017 Garage Sale Thread

WAG: between you and that trailer and your knowledge you seem to pick up some pretty interesting stuff. WELL DONE!!

SMOKE: i know you meant well with the other thread in Free Parking and i hope it takes off cause even if we can't top GB's story about the damsel in distress and RED's mis adventures it's good to have some fun stuff to remember instead of all the bad junk to keep our spirits up.

ALL: i think it's maybe rained 10 inches already this month here in SEATTLE and i usually don't mind, but an inch a day is getting old as it's pouring right now.

i do have few things to pick up this week, but i'd love to get my area ORGANIZED before i shove more stuff in front of it.

Finally sitting down with a drink (Pappy's Bayou Tea) and time to do some updates on my finds.

Canton TX Auto swap meet last Friday, didn't find a lot but came home with 2 Craftsman toolboxes.

Craftsman machinist box, late 1970's with a lot of electrical tools for radios and TV's. Paid $55 with the tools. The second picture is the better tools from inside.

Craftsman Crown label 1958 6 drawer top chest, Advertising Metal Display Co. Decent shape. Coolest thing is it still has the little owners manual. Paid $75. Now I need to find a Corbin BCS23 latch.

I have an even nicer, nearly identical, 1957 Heritage logo 6 drawer top box as well.

amazingly I bought almost the same craftsman box a week ago with the same hang tag! i will have to post some pictures of my 2017 finds - I am redoing things and everything is in boxes right now. Will take pics as I get everything reset.

Here's one more story from last week.
There was 2005 dodge 1500 that had been hit on the right side listed for $900. Still started up and they had been driving it.
Full leather interior, which we wanted for another truck.
It was a woman doing the deal. I don't know about y'all, but I've had terrible luck dealing with women sellers. This woman "didn't know" a dang thing about the truck. Then to find out, her definition of "first $900 cash in hand" had been taken way too literal. She tells me she had someone on their way from 2hrs away to come and get it but I was already there and driven a fair distance myself.
I ended up buying the truck, and she has the nerve to call those people, when they are 15 minutes out and tell them it sold. I could hear them on the phone and they were PISSED. I would be too. You don't do that to people. But I wasn't about to waste my own time feeling sorry for someone. Just a bad deal all around.

The truck did end up having a 5.7 hemi though that wasn't listed.

Whats up with the heritage one?

It's too nice for everyday tool use and is "retired" and in my bedroom to organize various small "guy stuff", my military paraphernalia and "challenge coins", sewing kit and buttons and other stuff I can never find.

I do have an even earlier Craftsman Heritage 3 drawer top and 3 drawer bottom I am considering getting rid of.

I picked up some more stuff from my neighbor before the scrappers come to clear the junk out from her back yard, Not the trailer load Wagoner72 always has but free is free!

Some of the nice pieces in here are a 4"x 4" x 1/2" angle iron, 4" x 1" flat bar, 1/2" by 10" flat bar, 19' homemade square tube ladder I am going to turn into ramps, rolling table and other good bits. Yes the tree grew through the ladder LOL!

The ladder was horizontal on a rack and that small tree trunk grew right through it. Tried cutting it off prior to moving it but I forgot to charge the batteries for my sawzall and ended up having to work it out of where it was at.

Well I made it out to a high priced estate sale this morning. Not much in the way of older stuff I like but plenty of chrome. I don't normally go after this high end stuff so I hope I can come out alright in the end. Spent $315 !!!

and finally two bar One Mac one Snap-on- I have no idea what they do or what they are for. They were a buck a piece so I bought them just to find out what they are???

Ah, I see now. I was looking for the sockets. It's a ratcheting adapter. For putting on say a breaker bar or T handle to make it ratchet.

Cleaned out the truck bed earlier as it's trash night, and forgot I also picked up this beast in the lot from Tuesday. Now I was wrong before, but I'm pretty sure this is something nautical Roughly 42" long...any clue as to what this sucker would be used to catch, or am I again mistaken...and this is used to hang or process something else?

ETA: I'm hoping it's worth tree fiddy, and I can catch the Loch Ness monster with it.... (only funny if you get the reference, or at least I hope it's funny)

Craigslist, he was asking $115, I pointed out the broken table and missing return spring catch and offered $60. He agreed that was fair so I brought it home. I have a spare table for it. Btw it's a Delta 15-017

That is a meat hook used in packing houses. It is for something small like pig hams or something like that.

Awesome! Love that slab it should clean up nicely with some sanding and poly. Where abouts in Mass?

slab tables i make i make a free standing base and finish both sides of the slab. then u can turn it over and look at the other side for awhile, then back the other side. nice find.

Hit a g sale I found d by accident. The girl was a lot and a table of old tools belonging to her great grandfather. I bought a couple boxes for $20! Will spread it out and see what all in the box when I get home in a bit. Saw at least one deep Plom socket on top of the pile. More pics once sorted out.

Stopped by the local re-store with my dad this afternoon. Picked up a Starrett last word, a set of import hand reamers 1/4"-3/8", a 6" pocket rule and a Whitney-Jensen hand punch. All for $8.50

Went to Pawnshop today picked up a Kobalt USA 3/8 SAE & Metric Socket set and this Craftsman Ratchet V 1/2 Dr for $25

just need to clean up the ratchets

Well I got home and started going through the two boxes. Many wrenches and sockets. wont to list it all, but there's a set of old Armstrong 1/2 sockets, SOme old SnapOns sockets, Bonney, and New Britain Sockets,Plomb socket and swivels, Indestro sockets, Tons of old wrenches , Williams, Mac, Wards Eclipse, Proto with pebble inset boxes, Duro Chrome breaker, A 1/4 socket set box im almost certain is Plomb! My fav thing in the bunch! Drill bit index, 5 adjustable wrenches, chisels, old screwdrivers, all USA made brands. Pliers, ignition wrenches, and other assorted stuff...Whew... starting to clean up and go through stuff now... pretty good haul for $20

only one ratchet in the group looks like an old williams 3/8 ? W inside a sideways diamond mark...
