Nice finds!
Got some deals. Paid $200 for everything.
Johnson 108 benchtop furnaces. Hoping to be able to modify one to use as a small propane forge, if possible to re-insulate the inside correctly.

picked up a box of old machinist tools and parts, still sorting what to keep. Wondering what a few of the items are. The 1st picture is the lot of tools (most of it). The 3 wood boxes in the upper right are micrometers. But what are:
- 2 jigs with spring loaded pins in the center and thumb-wheel which locks the pin
- about 11" extension with set screw for cutting tool, made for ??
- bunch of tapered rods, about 2" to 4" long. Handles to ??
.
It's possible to buy the interior fire brick/insulation for these but doesn't seem cheap. I picked up one of these last year and found the web site that sells parts but trying to decide if it's worth it to fix one.
You're right 3baygarage, it was BlueBomber who asked about the valve spring compressors.
It's not one of these canisters is it (attached image below)? I saw it at my local ReStore, along with some globes...
Nice find. I love some people's junk. Not a garage item or a garage sale, but one of the best Craigslist free finds I've had in a while - Large Big Green Egg.
Bummer part it that is is raining and they don't play well with rain so no grilling tonight.

My brother has sworn by one of those for 30 years.

I saved $68.10

Answered a CL ad for a Snap On vise that was posted 30 min prior for $80. Got to the guys shop and sitting next to it was a 1/3 hp Baldor grinder. Asked if he would take $100 for both and he countered at $120. Said ok handed him the cash and loaded up.
The last pic is after I wire brushed off some surface rust and applied WD40.

JMlangford, the only Snap On catalog not already on the Collecting SO site is the 1985 one. You can email the site host about it. [email protected]

Not bad for being picked over. Nice work.

Junktastic - YOU ****!!! That is a screaming deal on the Kalamazoo. Want to double your money? LOL

Swingpress, I stopped at the old Bruner and Ivory factory in Hope AR a few years ago, it was already closed and mostly stripped.
Swing,
That's a nice haul! I can't say I've heard of MOHR but that doesn't mean much - I'm newer to precision/machine tools than many of the old hats here. I do know from experience that typically taps/dies that are US made are worth the money over most of what's sold today. I, like you did, snag them whenever I see them at sales.
If you decide you want to part with them or the Starrett punches PM me. I will be honest though, I wouldn't be in for a lot of $. I'm only putting it out there if you think you won't use them and want to move them on.![]()
