About 10 months ago I got a 3 ton arbor press at a farm sale. I have been looking for a large and heavy pedestal mount for it since then with no success.

Yesterday there was a Craigslist ad for two pedestals. I was fortunate to be the first to respond. I only "needed" one but I bought them both for $180. They are quite heavy:

I am sure I will eventually find a use for the other one.

Wow Jake! I knew you couldn't leave those things behind. How much more stuff was gone out of the garage? I would go back but my credit card bill will be coming soon and that is never pretty:lol_hitti

I'm sure there's something still there, but after 4 trips total, I'm done looking for it. (I Hope) You can almost walk down the isles now.

BTW, the pump and the Warner Little Giant clone sold today as well, they got loaded into a car with NY plates. The jack was still there when I left.

Here are the things I received from my girl's father. Craftsman router, Porter Cable drill, pipe clamps, bow saws, no name 1/4 socket set, etc.

And a nice Kennedy with the key! He inherited this at on point from his now deceased FIL. I never thought I'd be inheriting a machinist box like so many others on the forum. It was very nice of him. There are a coupe mics, stones, and templates in there.

I only came home with one piece this morning. But it’s a nice one (for a WWII collector, anyway). It’s a spec-perfect 10” long ½-inch sq drive extension marked with its Federal Stock Number (“41-B-309”), preceded by the Mossberg brand (“< M >”), and followed by the drive stock size (“1/2”).

Had a interesting run today. Day started out going to pick up a couple of Vidmar shelf cabinets. But they weren't going anywhere, so I hit a couple of sale sorta kinda on the way.

I went to a regular guy that has sales, a estate sale and another that advertised really old stuff. The pictures in no real order as I grouped everything together.

Adjustable clamp, brass hex bar, some drill bits, Exacto knife handles, 1-1/4" router mortise bit.

Vidmar shelf only cabinets, I'm going to replace a supply cabinet with this, the other I picked up for a member here.

Wow that is surprising. I am 100% not going back. I REALLY need to cut back on my spending. I do quite a bit on Ebay for sales but the money never comes back to me as it is always gone within a day. I'd hate to know how much more I do with spending cash! :willy_nil

Any way back to more Meetup planning....

All: i picked up an American Scale 51C 3 inch vise that has some jaw damage, an aluminum ladder, a few odd tools and this AMMO box that has a tin or aluminum lining. i'll post more pictures of the box when i get time to if anybody is interested. it's not very stout, but interesting i thought.

also a little rubbermaid container with a small shop vac inside it and a couple table legs along with a little portion of an old step or ramp.

From Sears, oh my beloved Sears I always went to  . A few pieces to remember them by. I didn't find any tools. Only gimmicky junk left. Nothing USA.

The flip book of tool sets:

View media item 69372

View media item 69373

This sign from the air tool aisle. I saw this many times browsing there.

Found it hidden in the torn out air tool hookup display. Looks like it got scratched up a bit when they piled it all up. I'm sure it wasn't like that when hanging. Pretty cool though.

View media item 69374

This paperboard sign, the worker grabbed from in back for me. The only other signage left. Charged me a buck for it.

View media item 69375

And this some of you all may recognize. It's the 3/4 drive socket display rack. I looked at this bad boy many a time in the socket aisle where it sat on the bottom shelf. Bought it for the nostalgia factor. I plan to put it to use too.

View media item 69376

All in all spent 28 something with tax. Farewell Sears.

Funny, didn't you grab some swivel sockets the other day?

A week a go I was at the other Sears that's closing. They had some sealed boxes of swivels and still wanted 100 something a box. I was like :wtf: not even USA. I didn't get anything. They had some nice USA impact sets new in the box. No prices on them when I asked, so off to the back room the sets went, never to be seen again. Hope somebody got a deal later.

Impala, those Weatherhaed bins are in my opinion the best of the best for a plastic tray parts bin. but they had to hold heavy brass parts so not that surprising!

You guys had some incredible hauls! I did some digging today myself and I have sights on a BIG score for tomorrow (hopefully) but my phone just deleted all my pictures so I'm trying to recover as we speak...
Great scores all - hopefully I'll have an awesome post myself tomorrow. ;)

Nice little haul swing press.
I really like picking up those little junk boxes.

My wife was watching a pile I had going one time, guy kept circling and she just gave him the look, man you don't want to get the look.:lol_hitti

went to one sale today,it was the 4th day of a 4 day sale. I had to work the other 3 or I would have went earlier. The sale was advertised as a woodworkers dream. Pictures showed a ton of tools ,today only a handful of tools remained at 50% off day. Some of the lathe tooling that was left was marked sky high and not a brand I was familiar with but at $30 I assume many of the other tools went for hefty money.I was able to score a pretty clean Craftsman crowntop stapler and one of my handiest reference books ,The Pocket Ref . I spent more at Taco Bell for lunch than I did at the sale.

Not a steal by any means--but I've been on the lookout for one of these Craftsman/Palmgren x-y vises for awhile.. Near new condition in the original box.

One week out from the annual opening of my local favorite flea market. So I paid $4 entrance fee to a "gigantic garage sale" at an indoor venue. Meh. There were a few interesting tools, along with a plethora of collectibles and used items. One H Disston & Sons no7 handsaw with split nuts from the late 1870s but had a quaint rural scene painted on it. A Blue Point ballpein hammer with an unmarked fiberglass and rubber grip handle that looked like a replacement, a 1940s Craftsman metal small parts organizer with four tranparent red plastic drawers (but one cracked). Tempted by a few items, but really just getting my eyes ready for next weekend.
Paid $3 for four items: 10" Stillson pattern wrench mfd by Parker Tool Co New York, 1929 1-1/32" Bonney CV service wrench, Stanley flat screwdriver, and a P1 Snap-on screwdriver.

I hit up a few different sales this weekend. Many of the sales were a bust and I didn't buy anything. The below pictures are my haul from the other sales. The first 4 pictures are from one sale. The next two are from other sales respectively.

The first sale where most of this came from, none of the tools were marked. They said just fill a box and bring it to the front. I put the Wards plane, some nails, and a wrench in a box and asked for a price. $6 bucks was the answer. So I went back and loaded up the rest of the stuff. $20 bucks for the rest.

So, the wrenches are pretty much every American brand tool manufacturer ever. They include Cornwell, Barcalo, Dearborn-Mallutt, Thorsen, Blackhawk, Snap-on, Craftsman (V on the head, =vv=, and -v-), Vlchek, SK wayne, MAC, New Britain, Indestro Super. Many more if you look at the pictures. The screwdrivers are Stanley USA. Husky USA, P&C, Giller sockets in 1/2 drive. There's a little tiny Indestro socket set. Billings 1/2 ratchet. The plane is a No. 5 Wards Master. I think its a rebranded Stanley. Not sure on the red handled one but its marked USA. The little wrench in plastic is marked Oxwall USA. Many of the little wrenches aren't marked that I can tell by a manufacturer, just drop forged and USA.

The little hammers are actually 6 in 1 tools made by GAM manufacturing. Its like a nesting doll, screwdrivers keep coming out of the handles. I didn't know they came apart until I got home and did some googling.

Then just a few China things. I picked most of that stuff out.

Grand total spent = $37 bucks.

Did I do good, did I hit a homerun, let me know. :headscrat

Vegas,

I think you might have gotten taken for a ride on this stuff sorry to say. I hate to see that happen to people. Chalk it up as a learning experience! Tell ya what, I have had some good days and feel nice so if you want to try again at a diff. sale then box all that up and I'll give ya enough to break even and even pay the shipping... just let me know. Just hate seeing people get ripped off.

I think that's fair, how about everyone else? Lol [emoji13][emoji13][emoji13][emoji13][emoji13][emoji13][emoji13]

This will take a couple of posts 'cause... Pics...

I only spent $5 on the only game in town that even sounded good.

It didn't look good as I got there 20-30 min past opening and I could see one of the local re-sellers loading up...

No tools, but an interesting load none the less!

This was the first thing I picked up: metal box
  • 14-1/2 wide 4-1/2 deep, 9" front to back
  • The side "handles" are to clamp the top on.
  • The carry handles is oddly large
  • the top is Stainless Steel and has no hinge, completly removable.
  • the box is Aluminum

Small can of WD-40, and a two gun rack for a rig. I like it and I can't recall seeing one with retainer straps? The plastic coating is getting stick.... any suggestions to manage the stickyness?

And the rest:

Someones "memories" box held all this. I think the guy passed and they were clearing out as this was a move out sale for the elderly mother.

Mostly patches, first up; Boy Scout patches and a decal; of the ones with dates they range from 1960 to 1968 and two were from 84 & 85? (His son's?):

And two plastic "ceremony" necklaces:

A pin commemorating Canada's Centennial in 1967:

Last stop of the day, a box of mostly craftsman tools and other junk, some additional HF garbage, guy says $10 for the box. I look at some of the Craftsman, and they have the A-AE and S-AE stamps, uhg, China, but for 10 bucks, I take it all.

Sold it this morning for a little over double what I paid for it. Rode my bike back home.

Thanks Guys!

the U S metal box question was answered almost immediately on the Coleman Forum I'm on:

It's the case to a Coleman 523 Sterilization stove! The lid is also the sterilization try!
