You guys are stompin' all over my old stompin grounds! A flea in Wysox? Dad used to own Regal Car Care there on Rt. 6 in Wysox. I must get back up there this summer. My Grandparents are way up there in age so I'm absolutely making a trip, perhaps the weekend of the 25th? Sam, how's the auction been?

Wysox is on the map, they have a Tractor Supply & a Sheetz! :bounce:

I went a few times this spring and got a few deals, have not been going lately just to many projects at the moment not enough time and money. PM me when your up this way, I have a few things you may like.

Some things are just meant to be.

4 or 5 years ago, I missed out to a good friend on a couple of old wooden mallets.

The other day at a get together, he said he had a couple of old tools to give to me. Yep, it was the two wooden mallets.

Cleaned them up and put some BLO mixture on them. Pic 1 & 2

Pic 3-6 is a Stearn's per bluebolt

I didn't see any good prospects Thursday night for garage sales for Friday last week so I slept in a bit, checked Craigslist for any new sales when I got up and a new one was there with lots of tools. I looked at the "Reply" on Craigslist and it was a guy named Juan. I thought "Juan the flea market tool guy?". Has good stuff but never cheap because he also sells on Ebay.

Headed over and sure enough it was him. He needed to make an emergency road trip and was trying to get some cash together so his prices were a bit better than normal.

Got it back home and started sorting it out on a table outside and then the wind picked up, the temperature dropped 10 degrees and I knew a storm was about to hit so I rushed getting photos done and stuff put up.

Pic 1: Bottom to top, left hand side, Blackhawk, Bonney, Briggs and Stratton, Cal Van puller, nice Camilus knife, Channelock pliers with an amber translucentgrips instead of blue, Diamond , Drebo Brasil DBE wrenches and Durochrome puller and wrench.
Right hand side punches and chisels, Eklind, Fleet, Klein and a pile of Craftsman tools.

Pic 2: Left hand side, Mac puller and socket, New Britain brake tool, Plomb wrench and a bunch of Proto. Center, various pliers, Rigid pipe wrench, Stanley and on the top a small pile of Snap On. On the right various other tools and the import stuff going in the garage sale box.

Pic 3. Free bin of Dewalt drills

Pic 4: Craftsman USA made large angle grinder, Kreg jig, heavy extension cords, model plane radio control and more free stuff.

Pic 5: Box of jacks and stands.

Pic 6: ATV jack, tool cart and 2 metal shelves I disassembled to get in the Excursion. Already sold the tool cart and shelves to a buddy.

Pic 7: The big ticket item, Snap On 3/8" drive metric socket set and a couple of free Craftsman tool bags.

The SK was not part of the $6 at the estate sale.

I buy the NOS SK from Kitts on 8 mile. He bought most of it in 1985. This set was made in 1989.

I had to chuckle when I saw that you said Kitts :lol_hitti. I've been there many times. He has a lot of NOS stuff, like vice grips and channel locks at way cheaper than hd or even ebay... I am actually going to go back there soon.

I've already posted this in the Vise thread but it won't hurt to post it again here :)

Hollands 26, 6" swivel vise from CL ad that read "Make offer or it goes into the dumpster".

$60.00

New homeowners were cleaning out their newly acquired home and this was destined for the trash.

Naturally, I asked if they had anything else of a vintage tool nature. They promised to call me if they find anything :)

I'm not gunna get any more photos of it tonight as I have plans, so it will sit in my Camry overnight.

First picture is the CL ad. Second is the vise as it sits in my car.

Gosh, you are so nice to help the new home owners out with money for their newly acquired home [emoji38] although it makes me wonder about a homeowner who thinks they have no use for a vise? You killed it by the way! Suckage awarded!

Picked up a set of cman ignition wrenches and about 50lbs cman sockets (no pic) for $60. I think I may be able to put a decent dent in filling my sets with it. Also does anyone have a 10MM DOE cman ignition wrench they're willing to part with? That's the only one missing. I also got a big case of Deutsch weatherproof connectors and the tool to crimp them for $50.

Picked up a couple of oldies but goodies today for $60. Power hacksaw (no branding present upon initial inspection, similar to Craftsman / Atlas / etc.) and an American leather skiver. The hacksaw took some doing but everything has freed up nicely and all seems to be present, accounted for, and functioning properly. The skiver is missing the spring and top to the oiling cup and another piece that mounted on a horizontal bar, but otherwise functional.

Merc:

I like the power hacksaw and the American hand crank skiver.

Good finds and congrats.

This is definitely outside my collecting niche, but too good to pass up at the Early Early Bird today... a near-complete set of RUSSELL JENNINGS (pre-Stanley) spur auger bits in their original two-tier oak case with a label in excellent condition.

This is the Figure 100 set with nine (9) double-thread point bits, #'s 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 12, 14, and 16. The bits are straight, some surface rust only, and appear to have either never been sharpened or sharpened on the inside of the spurs only. Bits #4 and 5 are missing, unfortunately, and as you can see in the first photo, the case is missing a clasp. But I have an empty three-tier RUSSELL JENNINGS oak case that I picked up last year with no real reason in mind other than it was purdy. I am going to replace the missing clasp on this one with a clasp from the donor case. The case is a little scuffed, but that and the bits should clean up real nice.

Hit a few good estate sales over the weekend:

It was the estate of a violin maker, not a much as I thought there would be, but good pickin's none the less. Winchester chisel, Millers Falls level, local drill index, nice stapler, Crafttsman visegrips, Stanley knife and a cool vintage postal scale. I had to take a leak the whole time and asked if I could use the john, but the girl said no way, the owners would freak out. But just before I paid, she said she wanted to show me another stapler (?) and to follow her. She showed me to the john! Real good looking blond and it couldn't have been my looks to earn this bonus. Darn near peed myself looking.

Spent a little money at this one:

The Stanley 190 was $30, the brace bits $10 and the wooden block plane $10, everything else was $5. The block plane, a 60 1/2, cleaned up real nice to be a good user and I can always use a good chisel handle.

Also signed papers and got the keys to a 103yo house over the weekend.

Snooping around some antique shops with my dad, while my mom, wife and daughter took a walk around Mansfield University, bought this Yost (Meadeville) 203-1/2 for $32. Under the rusty dirt is a thin layer of silver paint, and under that, dark blue. Dad doesn't have a 1-1/4" socket, so have to get it home to take the swivel base off, but seems like nothing is broken or missing. Very solid. 3-1/2" jaw, 5-3/8" open, 8" high, 35lbs.

A buddy of mine wanted to go to a garage sale Saturday because it had a Rubbermaid outdoor storage cabinet he wanted so we took my two wheel trailer and glad we did! Besides him getting the cabinet, a parts cleaner and a welding torch and bottles I got a few things myself.

Pic 1,2 and 3: The big ticket items was a bunch of copper plumbing fittings and other odds and ends. I sorted the copper fittings into milk jugs. 70 plus pounds of copper will be worth at least $140 in scrap alone. They came in the wood boxes pictured in pic 3.

Pic 4: This rough wood wagon was full of stuff including some brand new Harley Davidson FLH clutch and brake cables and hoses.

Pic 5: This barrel has the separate top with a ring to hold it on and my neighbor RAN over to buy it right away for storing feed. On top are 11 Superstrut 10 foot pieces for hanging electrical and plumbing in construction.

Pic 6: Horseshoes, cleaning supplies, box of TIG welding hose, tips and other welding stuff.

Pic 7: Wood box of big hardware and box of brand new 14" metal cutoff saw blades plus a partial bag of oil dry.

Pic 2: Top to bottom, fold out drill bit holder, Williams, Vlchek, Thorsen, Indestro, Husky

Pic 3: Top to bottom, import stuff that will go into the garage sale box, file, odds and ends,

Missed posting an item from this sale I got, Craftsman Crown plastic hardware cabinet.

Jake - Do you have a use for the red side cabinet?

Bobcat - sorry it took so long to get back to you.
On vacation. Drinking at the bar, using the owners WIFI.

Not sure about the cabinet yet. It may be a while until I have an answer. Need to rebuild my truck from the front bumper to the trailer hitch when I get back. It may be a while before I can think about the cabinet. Not a good week at camp. I'll get back to you on it when I have some time with it.

No sales to go to in the Northwoods. :(
Maybe another beer will get me past the craving for a sale. :beer2:

I passed by an estate sale today that I hadn't known about. It was mid-day, so it had been picked over some. I did find some goodies though. P&C speed handles in 3/8" and 1/2", plus a 3/8" extension. Plomb WF-37 1/2" breaker bar and another unmarked 1/2" breaker bar that needs identification. The second photo shows the two bars with a P&C and a Plomb USA below them for comparison.

I saw a beat up cross pein hammer, and thought that it was cheap enough to chance, so I picked it up. I noticed lettering on it that ended in RR, so I thought it might have come from a railroad. I figured that it would come in handy if it wasn't special. Turns out it was from the Pittsburg, Cincinnati, and St. Louis Railway! They first appeared in the late 1860's and merged into the Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Chicago, and St. Louis Railway in 1890. The hammer is old enough to have been beat up!

Not bad for a Target of Opportunity! :D

That hammer is cool find! I have a few U.P. R.R. hammers like that. My FIL used to work for the UP.

Hit a few sales this morning, but didn't get much.

Wooden short handle shovel, some yellow paint still on it, and the markings are hard to read beyond the U.S.E.D.

Level I got for upcoming project for daughter's fence.

Nippers.

JW Chapman Mfg Co of Durham Conn. Tool kit #1316 but original ratchet replaced by one made by K-D Tools.

1 stop today near home, $6:

- a 2" W Butcher gouge, good shape, needs a new edge.
- several Bell System screwdrivers, the ones on the left are Stanley, the ones on the right are Bridgeport. I tried to gently wire wheel enough to read the stampings.

Last weekends take from 3 sales, total outlay $70. Peterson vise grips, new 6" wire wheel, drill press vise, 6" Bison vise, and a pr of Reese ramps, 625 lb rating per ramp. Also got a drill chuck key, not shown. The Bison vise cleaned up pretty well, shown in the second vise pic with a minty 5" Bison I found on Let Go a couple weeks ago.

Let's hope you don't get skunked next time. Don't want to have to see Chuckles again!:lol::lol:

I thought they were twins 'til I read the post. Looks nice.

You guys are killing it on vises lately!

Insane clown posse for sure!

I'm still trying to figure out the dump truck. Just a case of poor spelling? Or a warning about which side of the gate to push on or not?

A warning to cars about which side they should pass on! esp. if the truck is making a right turn
