Picked these up at the Quakertown flea yesterday for $1. 10.5" and quite rusty when I bought them. Noticed they were a bit different from regular Button pattern. Interesting the way the teeth interlock instead of meeting point-to-point. Looking through available Utica catalog pdfs, I haven't spotted B180 yet.
Later in the day I was at the Philly flea mkt at Roosevelt Mall with my daughter and saw an odd little vise marked Athol Mach Co on the right side and Athol Mass USA on the left. I couldn't make out the model number under the layers of brown (rust and BLO, I guess), might have been two-digit. It was missing the spindle collar to back up the dynamic jaw, but otherwise operated well. I didn't realize this was related to Starrett until I was away in the car (reading a post by Outlaw). Unfortunately, no pic. I guess it was a U-Beam design. My mental image is that had a lower and sleeker profile than the illustrations I've seen online, reminiscent of Wilton bullet viewed from the top.
Later in a repurpose boutique, the wife spotted this small Reed pipe vise, marked $39 "press." She thought it would make a nice bookend, but didn't buy it. I think I may have a small vintage Littlestown pipe vise somewhere, not sure.

So am I caught up yet? Heck no, I am still working on last weeks stuff!
On Saturday a week ago I went back to the really organized workshop estate sale again for the 75% off sale just before closing. And I spent another $35. Notice a pattern there?

Pic 1: The guy used cigar boxes to organize things and had little pull rings on most of them to get them out of the shelves with perfect spacing for them. They were dirt cheap today and some I just got for the box itself. In this picture the Keep Moving cigar box has new green felt, underneath is few Craftsman and other items I found. The Sherman and McConnell Drug locking box is cool and came with the key.

Pic 2: The Tampa Nugget box has a right angle drill head and some chucks, the King Edward has a hot glue gun. Underneath are Lufkin and Goodell Pratt calipers and other precision tools.

Pic 3: Sears Router Template Set, a Sears hold down device and a bunch of grinder accessories including buffer mandrels.

And several of these items I got the owners manual the day before!
well done. I have an affinity for OldSchool cigar boxes and my collection serves me well with storage for a number of smalls collections.

Picked up this interesting Coleman lantern over the weekend. Usually, they're dated on the bottom, but this one has a bunch of patent numbers and the U.S. marital mark. So, likely from a military contract.
The most recent patent on the list (1973184) was granted in 1934.

Maybe Outlaw can help me narrow down the production? :dunno:

What are the markings on the collar? I don't think its 1930's vintage but the US marked ones had different markings that I'm not 100% up on; get the collar markings and If I don't know from that, I'll hit up the guys on the CCF.

ps: There is a "3" on the left center, and something else right center? That's a clue that will help...

Thanks for the response Outlaw. There's a 3 on the left and an 11 on the right. Which, after a bit of research leads me to believe this is November of '43, so wartime! :rocker:
Looks like the globe has been replaced at some point.
Now I just need to figure out the best way to clean the internal parts. Any tips?

First letgo deal - snap on metric stubby wrenches and anniversary screwdriver set new in box. $70 - not sure if it's a great deal but wanted the stubbies and will try flip the drivers. Any interest in these older anniversary editions ? I always look at the boxes and think they don't look good with all that stuff on em.

Had a pretty good weekend out here in eclipse land. I hit an estate sale on Friday, picking up the following for $14:

Some Perma blue, a Matco DBE, unopened pack of zip ties, Vacuum Grip diagonals a woodie phillips, cool electricians hole saw kit (missing some, but a Klein Unibit in there)... And the rest of that haul:

Matco and Snap On smalls, contractor pack of electrical tape, aluminum clipboard thing, Craftsman visegrips and a fillet gauge for welding. Not too bad!
Then on Sat, hit a few sales, picking up not much but a few long C Craftsman DBE. Forgot to take a pic of those. Then I swung by the local habitat, and found this in the yard to be processed:

Retirement light, variable speed, a little blade holder on the front:

hadn't been tested yet, so had to work to get them to sell it, but $65, and when I got it home the motor ran perfectly, dead quiet and smooth as silk. Needs a good cleaning and to be gone through. Putting my bandsaw project on the back burner now.
Oh, and my wife found this for her makeup in the bathroom, and to hold TP:

(Man that thing is heavy, nor cheap)

1870-1900s clamp for a buck! And it works and is nearly rust free, score!

I think you did good there. Pretty decent price.

bmw- I wouldn't mind a couple of those dental cabinets. Nice find. I ran across some in the past and the price always kills it for me.

I remember one went way too high at an auction, and needed complete cleaning and cosmetic redo as it was in an auto shop. I thought I might catch a deal but no way. :headshake Another was in an antique mall priced way too high and the owner is a complete jack@$$ who won't deal.

Provincial and 3Bay - It was around $200. We bought an old house, downtown Albany OR, and it will look awesome in the master bath. And work really well. I wouldn't have spent that much, unless it was a piece of machinery I needed or a good roller cabinet or a new project or a...

By internal you mean the inside of the fount (Tank)? If its rusty, there are a number of things you can use, but remember you also need to gt that whatever out again!

Most use Vinegar and BB's, and do the "BB Dance" for heavy internal rust. For light you can probably forgo the BB's.

How are the gasket on the cap, and the pump Leather? many times the pump leather can be rejuvenated with neetsfoot oil. (find the pure stuff; there is a "sort of Neetsfoot oil" being sold all over instead...).

The gasket, pump leather, and dang near everything else is available on Old Coleman Parts. A "proper" globe will get pricey if you go that far...

Wow, what is the deal with showing the ladies mowing lawns. Very rare back then! (but not unknown, one of my neighbors when I was in HS got her fingers under the deck and she lost two of them...)

I was wondering the same thing. The front wheels on this one are very close to the toes.

I was wondering the same thing.

I think the picture suggests that the machine does so much of the brute work and is so responsive to a light touch, that a smaller-framed person (female) can do the chore traditionally relegated to men. Also, that reliability and simplicity of operation render a deep mechanicical knowledge unnecessary.

Posting a few flea market finds from the past weekend here in Italy.

The chest is leather over wood construction. Big as he11. Set me back $30.

The Pepsi bottle has the funky caps like you see on Grolsch beer. Probably an Italian thing.

The Redline gas can has some great patina and a brass cap. $30.

Uh-oh. I wonder how many sizes they made? I feel another collection goal coming on...

Those porcelain stoppers can be found all over Europe, bulletpruf. In the early 80's, when I was stationed in West Germany, we called them "flippies." EDIT: Grolsch is Dutch, by the way.

Pardon me for saying, in the old days we called "patina" rust!
I've just recently heard something similar (on another thread). But I would have to agree with bulletpruf on the Redline can assessment. I would classify that as patina myself. Most of the paint is still there and the parts of the finish that have been removed with age do not diminish its appearance. I don't see much if any active surface rust let alone cancer. If there's any rust on that can, it certainly doesn't mar its overall condition, which is very good. This is a classic case of some finish deterioration enhancing the value, which comes from its age. If that were my can I wouldn't touch it with anything much more than a very soft rub with a WD-40 soaked 0000 grade steel wool, and that would be with extreme care.

That can is looks to be galvanized, so, there shouldn't be any rust on it. If it is galvanized, it's not surprising to see the paint flaking off since paint doesn't like to stick to galvanized surfaces.

Pretty cool can. That would have followed me home as well.

I went to buddy's garage to help him on something. Noticed he had 2 motorcycle lifts. I asked if he wanted to sell one. he stated no but would give me the red one. He said it worked good and he just had got it from his brother and didn't need it. So for about 30 seconds easy labor, I took the lift.

it nothing fancy but seems to work fine when I pumped it up. it be a big help cleaning my white wall tries too.

Scout, Those are a must for cleaning white walls. On my RK it was a love hate relationship. Loved them when they were nice and shiny but I hated cleaning them after every ride. They dont look right unless they are clean. Simple green is what I always used.

Still trying to get everything posted. This is last Friday's sale, they were downsizing, family is owner's of a local auto machine shop that does racing engines. Look like they kept most of the tools but there was a few goodies. And for the 4th time in the past few weeks I paid $35 for everything.

Pic 1: Mopar Direct Connection Racing Manual book from the 1970's, USAC Indy car rules, Dunlap kitchen knife, Craftsman hammer, old keys and padlock, Champion key chain spark plug gauge, body dolly.

Pic 2: Indestro ratchet with the "plug", Stanley square, a few small DBE and DOE wrenches, old gas welding book and some WD40 containers.

Pic 3: A nearly full gallon og Super Clean and a Dumore grinder that does not work but was still worth the $4 for the parts, instructions and tools.

Picked all of this up for $110 at auction. I really wanted the SK box and it was full of tools. Here it is with a few highlights singled out:

IMG_2841 (Large).jpg

Nice "Kennedy-like" SK box with a tray and the cover.
IMG_2842 (Large).jpg

SK 1/4" box with some SK sockets. Also a Snap-On DBE and a MAC 1/4" breaker bar, and a Snap-On drag link socket.
IMG_2844 (Large).jpg

Proto extractor set complete.
IMG_2845 (Large).jpg

Small Matco knife by Gerber.
IMG_2846 (Large).jpg

"Drink Fleck's" Bottle opener with flat bade screwdriver.
IMG_2847 (Large).jpg

Easco 1/4" RHFT ratchet. Master Mechanic 1/2" RHFT ratchet. 6" Billings and Spencer Adjustable wrench. I think this dates to 1926 or before.

AFAIK, two sizes, (0 & 1) but variants within the sizes, including the plastic suff that replaced the funnels.

there are several slightly different copper funnels from the "Copper era (sometimes its just the markings - "Coleman & vs Coleman and...), then there is the aluminum era, plus Canada variants. (possibly other countries also...)

I've no clue about what might have been made for Japan. Coleman still makes stuff for Japan that they won't sell here...

But your problem is easily solved! send that groady Copper thing to me!

2nd letgo deal - Wilton C0 (thanks bluebolt). It has 3 1/2" jaws and weights 50lbs. Missing a swivel lock down and damaged end cap but other than that just rusty - dated 7-78. $110 and off to the repair 101 thread.
