Love the civil war tool Lugz! I'd guess a lot of supplies came in wood crates and that was THE tool!

Things picked up a tiny bit for me; 4 planned stops zero TOOs... everything came from one estate sale and the high school Flea...

The Miter, long drill bit Exacto handle and triple tap were from the estate sale for $2

I was hoping the miter was a fit for the '36 table saw but the bar is a bit narrow? so maybe I'll make a new bar that fits... Having spare miters makes miter driven tooling easier...

The 1/4" PwrKraft socket set and Plvmb and Cornwall combos were from the Flea. The other stuff was in the Socket set box. For for that stuff.

The Tent stakes attracted my attention for the bag. I use the nail spike stakes for almost all my tent stake use, so most of the stakes won't go to waste. The 3 lighter ones with the orange plastic tops I can use where I need some slightly thinner for fit, the other one is a ******. Too short and they always are breaking and not staying in...

The bag will get washed then I'l make a cardboard "sleeve" to keep the pointy ends from going through. I'l cut it in a cross pattern and fold the legs up and that should do the trick. $5 for the bag of 16 heavy and three lighter stakes

attachment.php

Last up is a lantern I'd have passed on except; see the silver bottom rim? that is a mantle safe!

attachment.php

This is what it had inside: two packs of NOS Silk Lites (these with the good formula; the new ones are not quite as bright) a New replacement generator, and the supplied wrench for the generator. $5 all in!

The lantern itself is a 220J dated 8-79 which I believe the J was the last of the 220's and 79 the last year made? Heck August may have been the last month...

Some nice weather and I was able to get out and grab a few goodies. A Vlchek 27C DOE, an early Wright DOE with USS markings, a Snap-on 3/4” combo, a Proto 3/8” ratchet, a 1945 Wright 7/16” socket, and a 1941 dated Plomb 5418 9/16” socket. For $30 I think I did ok. The guy I bought them from congratulated me for digging and said “you couldn’t get that Snap-on wrench for $30”.

The small boxes are slip joint pliers, the bigger ones are channel lock style pliers.

I dated them to roughly 1960, which is consistent to the original pricing written on the box $1-2 in faded pencil.

Best part is, that is what I paid for them. $1-2 each.

All in, everything in the three pictures I was under $50

Frequent lurker, not so frequent poster. Finally purchased something tonight off CL worthy of posting. Ad just stated, like new, Blue Tool box :) Guy kept getting called while we were loading it from people offering him more to not sell it to me. I eye these things all the time at work in maintenance shops at manufacturing companies I visit as part of my job.

Observations:
1. Damn, these things are HEAVY. Took the drawers out to get it off the back of the truck. The assembled pic is from the advert.
2. It has some type of electronics in it. Presumably part of an electronic inventory control system. All that can be easily removed. Looks like electronically controlled locks from the back of the drawer, and an LED light strip down the face.
3. The original dividers and Lista labels are still wrapped in plastic.

Needs:
1. Key, but the the original shipping stuff is there with a key code.
2. Castors, since I don't own a forklift.

Forgot to add price - $350. Seemed reasonable.

Until we see pics, all you bought were empty boxes.

Nice scores today guys.

Fowldar, I'm with the other guys. Please show us more of the Proto! I see a nice SK ratchet there.

Wake, nice heavy duty cabinet score. Sounds like it was at a good price.

Lugz, what an interesting piece.

I didn't go looking for anything this week. I'll see about tomorrow. May need a week off here from the flea.

We made an impromptu stop at a very nice antique store coming back from lunch. I was surprised at the quantity and quality of "real" antiques. Not just modern day collectibles. Asian, Civil War, Nautical. Lots of interesting things. I will need to return alone and take a better look some time.

Good hunting to all.

Nice job on the Coleman lantern Outlawmws. I recently bought one and thought I overpaid, but immediately re-sold it for an $8 profit. The guy who bought it drove an hour and a half to get it. He was an avid collector and told me about an upcoming Coleman Convention where about 800 enthusiasts go to happening in Huntsville, AL next year. Here is my little red lantern as bought and sold within 2 days....

Yeah the real serious Coleman collectors get deep into it! Conventions, meetup's, scheduled group camping trips...

That is a really nice condition lantern! What was the date code on the bottom? With mantles costing 29c I'm thinking early 60's? :dunno:

fowldar,

Those Proto boxes are IR era... ~ 1964-1984. The original pricing definitely screams 1960's though; so call it 1964-1969 :thumbup:

I believe it was a 1962 Lantern. Pretty too. The new owner wasted no time in lighting it up...

I still don’t know why the heat pump isn’t working. But, at least you guys get to see my awesome NOS stuff.

If anyone is worried about it, the internal fan of the heat pump won’t turn on. The breakers aren’t flipped. The thermostat is set correctly, the Honeywell system is calling for heat, the outside fan is working. Guess I get to pay a tech to come look at it. Luckily I live in Coastal Oregon and have a wood burning stove so I’ll survive.

Yeah, Wake - a local YOU **** to you!!

I saw that box on my CL alert this morning and new it was already gone. Spent yesterday installing a transmission, but I did manage to score four metal shop cabinets for $5 ea. in the morning. Congrats, that thing is brand new.

That is some **** wrenches...

When you say internal fan, do you mean your furnace blower? If that is the case, check the capacitor on the squirrel cage, that seems to be the problem more often than not.

If you mean the fan out on the condenser unit, could be same issue out there. Usually those units use a single capacitor with multiple tabs / values.

Yeah. I’m definitely not an HVAC guy. Lot of power going through those units. I’ll probably let someone else make a living off my ignorance.

Also, proud to accept my first suckage. I might stop back for the 50% day and see what’s left.

Yeah, I'm part of the suckage club...

I didn't think it would stay for sale long. I wasn't too keen on meeting a stranger at a storage locker place at 8 PM, but nothing a friend with a truck (and a hand-gun) couldn't resolve. I knew if I didn't meet him right then someone else would.

It appears to have seen very minimal use. Not even scratches inside the drawers. It does however, have a couple of minor twists in the front frame. I'm guessing it was damaged in transit at one point or another. At 700 lbs, it's pretty much impossible to move with the drawers in without a pallet jack.

I haven't decided if I'm going to try to correct it, or just leave it as is.

I got a bit of eye-roll from the wife, as I spent yesterday setting up my Christmas / Birthday MaxJax :)

Inside the Lista box, there were 60 packages of labels. All of which are number 9s. That would make over 6000 decals. They say they are pump toppers? How does one person accumulate this many #9 (or #6s)?

Presumably worthless and will head to the trash if I can not think of a reason to keep a few.

Looking for a good used tablet for one of the kids at one of the local pawn shops and I came across this. 60$. and the C-man metric 1/2 deep socket set for 15. I'm glad I didnt pick up the new HF 3/8 ratchet. Now the real decision for me is should I convert to all M12 or keep my Dewalt 12v max stuff (1/4 bit driver, 3/8 impact, flashlight and drill). I dont like having multiple batteries and chargers.

Not anymore :)

It appeared to be part of a larger inventory management system, not stand-alone. I removed the components today: Small control board, lock assembly mounted to rear of cabinet with individual locks (kind of looked like electronic door strikes with a second tab on the back of each drawer next to the factory lock mechanism), a series of LED lights running up the front, presumably to identify the specific drawer a part was in, and another light in the upper right of cabinet, presumably to alert to a specific cabinet. The connections to the rest of the system was two plugs in the back.

Too bad. That would have been pretty sweet to see working or to repurpose! Any info from the guy you got it from on it?
