Just when I say I'm done trolling Craigslist, I picked up a large NOS Williams USA made lot (all Williams except for the hacksaws, at least) for $200. All are new and never used, though not perfect from sitting up for a while. A few boxes aren't pictured but you can see most of it. I only had time to unload and take a quick peek, but I either count or estimate:

11 Bahco hacksaws
19 dead blow hammers
~50 pairs of needle nose pliers
~50 punches and chisels
~250 wrenches
~10 flat blade screwdrivers

The plus sides are obvious, whereas the down sides are:

(1) About 1/2 half of the wrenches have slight oxidation on them but the few I've spot checked, it doesn't seem anything serious that can't be wiped off in most cases and still be in new / near new condition. Obviously there's some wear from being in close contact.
(2) Lots of duplicates, as there are only five distinct wrench sizes / types

I think I know what people are getting for Christmas this year... :dunno:

I just PMd my address.:lol_hitti
Great find.

Hit a couple sales that are reg sellers.
One advertised the SO stuff. Couldn’t believe when he said $25 for the three.

I like the 1/2” drive in the smaller body. It’ll come in handy with bigger sockets in a tight space.
The pressure hose fittings and proto ext. were free, for returning cust.

Very nice matched set! And the price is worthy of a you **** too.

cbacres - You ****! Not sure which I like more, the stubby of the 1/2" in the 3/8" body!

Thanks guys. One rat may need a kit, or just a good cleaning.
Threebay, couple guys there, was wondering if you, I quit asking if they were 3bay after the second one, getting weird looks.:bounce:

:lol_hitti Uh oh. They probably thought it was code for something.

I just went to that sale that was re-run. Ended up with a box of boat tools and a Snap On slide hammer. You make it over there? Not much else tool wise.

Dake #1 arbor press (3 ton) and Ridgid 12-R threading set.

Didn’t make the sale yesterday and was surprised to see Press still there with $100 tag. Seller accepted $120 for both along with a coffee can full of tools.

The press included the arbor plate which you can see in bin of threaders.

I plan to straighten the handle on my shop press.

Well done, Matt!

Gents, our post count for this thread is way down from last year (400 posts behind where we were on 16 Dec 2016). Yeah, yeah, I know it's not about the quantity but the quality, and the good conversations we start, contribute to or maybe just read and benefit from. But I'll repeat a point made by previous hosts of this thread: no find, big or small, new or old, You ****-worthy or top dollar, is unworthy of posting here. We all benefit from seeing the good, the bad and the ugly.

Post your finds!

Ruh-Roh,
One of those "I can't turn it down" CL deals popped up about a 35 minute drive away. I was not particularly looking for this set but $100 for both pieces with working keys and especially the 9 drawer bottom roller cabinet convinced me quick. They need a good cleaning but that's to be expected. The top box even has good usable liners for the drawers. Definitely cheaper than anything I could buy at HF of similar size. And they match my other existing Craftsman sets.

The spider eggs on the bottom were no extra charge. :lol_hitti

Oooo you ****! I wish I could find like 2 or 3 of those 9-drawer bottoms for a decent price to put under one of my workbenches... Seems like the only thing I ever find are the 4 or 5 drawer models... :(

Thanks EOC. I agree on the 9 drawer model as more useful. I have one of the other bottom roller cab with the large storage space in the bottom and for me personally it just is not as useful as extra drawers. Had to jump on this quick.

rmalkow - I have the same set of boxes as you picked up. You got a hell of a deal. They have worked good for me for years. Too bad I live in the wrong part of the country to find these deals.

By the way, You ****!

CB, we got so distracted by front cover or lack thereof, no one asked what the tools were!

So: Pics?

Here the wrench and feeler gauges I was asking about.

Then I found the thread gauge in its box after I got home

These Yamaha outboard parts were in the top,

I looked up on eBay, should be able to get around $35! Not a bad buy just to get a wrench.
The rest of contents is the typical junk, couple of drill bits.

Yes I made it there. No tools then either, said his friend would be by at 10 am.

Bought a thick piece of rope.

I had that same top, very handy with the smaller drawers.
My bottom had three rows of the drawrs like the top, except center drawer was as deep as all three.

That's probably black widow spider eggs.

cold and windy here, but when I get a weekend day off I'm heading out to hunt!! Hit the little flea market and 3 Estate sales. Not a single decent tool at any of the estate sales... but a TON of nick nacks and glassware. The flea market was about half its normal size since the weather is cold and windy. But, turned out to be Thorsen Day!

Thorsen T-100 1/2 Torque wrench - I really liked the handle and looks of it. got it for a dollar!
Thorsen 77 1/2 drv open gear ratchet that works really nice!
Thorsen 18 mm Combo
Thorsen 3/4 - 5/8 DOE

P&C 100 5/8 combo

Herbrand 3/8-7/16 DOE

New Britain 1/2 swivel

Miller Falls Tap T handle

Indestro Select 1/2 sockets x3

Only made it to one sale today. I had to dig hard to come up with this stuff for 3 bucks. Pencils, Proto and Honda wrenches, Williams ratcheting box end, assorted extensions and sockets from snap on, Mac and craftsman, and a miniature Stanley plane.

I picked this snap on “ t handle spinner “ today. Did snap on use cadmium plating for tools of this era?

Hit up a barn sale that has been happening every weekend for a while, still managed to find some goodies:

Worth 13" plane (not the best but made by PEXTO) Thorsen Metric socket set in a rail, missing only 10mm, 15mm and 16mm, Proto LA universal joint (been looking for that for a few years) SK socket rail (never seen one in SAE) and a P&C pinch bar. $25 for all that. Not bad, but not great.

Then I hit a few thrift stores, and found two unworn Pendletons for another $25.

Like always lately I am weeks behind in updates. Hit a big tool sale today that was advertised as being cheap. Turned out to be a car guy I know selling his deceased neighbors tools. Spent $80 for all. Here's the Craftsman.

Here's more stuff. Car ramps, folding camp chair and a Werner ladder. The mechanical twin jack rig is a Weaver with a October 27, 1914 patent date. I stopped by an antique store after the tool sale and spotted it. It's stuck and missing one caster. They were used in the Model T era. Paid $85 for it. I still need to sort out the other USA tools. And not pictures is a benchtop parts cleaner and a Black and Decker Workmate 225 and another Workmate copy. I stopped by a buddies and he biught them for $25 total. I only paid $5 for all 3. So I now only have $55 in this whole lot.

I think so. I’ve got a couple T spinners and a few sockets from that era, and while I have no expertise in identifying metals, the finish sure matches the descriptions I’ve read. Tempting as it is, I haven’t heard of a safe way to clean or de-rust cad-plated tools, so probably best to leave them as found.
