I just recently come across this type of vice A Emmert patternmakers vice. After watching a couple YouTube on it it was just one of those vises I had to have.

This thing is huge, weighs about 80 pounds, look at that tiny milk crate in the background

There are actually three of them local to me one right in my town in an antique shop, one on the craigslist ad looking for eBay prices, and this one that I found on Facebook marketplace. This style is the latest style and most up-to-date, and I like the looks of it more so than the others. I believe it is 1940s vintage.
I paid a premium for as far as vices go but there’s not many of them around did a pretty good search before purchased.
Yes I know how to spell vice, but my phone dictation does not.

Did you get all of the tilt hardware brackets with it?

I had a chance at one of these a couple of years ago but the guy wanted more for it than I could possibly afford at the time, so I sadly had to watch it go. Man, that was hard to do!

Emmert vises are sweet, but you are right about them being a beast. Quality stuff!

No tilt bracket or arm,I figured I’d just build one . Bracket in harm go from anywhere from 100 to 150 on eBay, be nice to have the original but I’m not that worried about it, I intend on using it. It’s also missing the four dogs, I’ll just watch for them or maybe build some down the road

There’s a complete one on craigslist here locally, a different earlier version, listed for $649. Way out of my budget it’s over double what I paid for this one

Another Letgo buy. A set of four 8" casters for $20. Never been used but was stored outside. A cleanup and lube they'll be ready to use.

I've been remiss in not posting here. It's not that I have nothing to post, it's that I've been busy moving. Even in the middle of a move, I've managed to find time to pick a few things up!

My latest acquisition came yesterday - this Rock Island made Craftsman model 5161, 3 1/2" swivel vise. $60. While on the topic of vises, I picked up a Hollands model 16, 6" machinist's vise for $125 a couple weeks ago. I photographed it with my Athol 613 & 623, 3" vises for a sense of scale.

Edit: I almost forgot about the the Reed 5 1/2" swivel jaw vise! I had to wade through the mud to a pile of junk out in a farmer's field. It was saved from a barn that had collapsed a year earlier. I gave $50 for it and have since traded it to another GJ member.

Thanks!
The 4-barrel .22 short on the right is. The left is a NAA .22LR 5-shot.

I have a shot at buying 23 more. I think I'm gonna do it! Merry Christmas to me!

YOU ****. I have been looking for a longer barrel 22LR in a Freedom Arms for a long time.

I will say like I told the wife. I'm fortunate that it was under 1K (just barely). More than the last gun I bought, and less than I will spend in the future. [emoji38]

Funny story. That *****. I think we've all been there. Not with a gun, but how many times I got home and realized something I bought was damaged or not what I thought. It's like duh how did I not see that! Oh yeah, too caught up in the moment.

Riley way to rescue that Reed out of there.

WHAT???? [emoji481][emoji481]

I know right?! I think the price was to keep me coming back! Well, it worked!

Also, I found it's big brother today!! I'll post pics tonight, it is super freaking cool!

2 snake guns in 2 days, I must be dreaming!

Billythekid1: Don't beat yourself up too bad. I have been there plenty of times on some VERY expensive guns/parts!

Nothing like figuring out that a suppressor had a light baffle strike AFTER the paperwork is done.... 🤢

Under $1000 for a Python? If you could get it into CA you could more than double your money. Those things sell for anywhere between $2000 and $5000 or more depending on the model, condition, provenance, etc.

Thank you for the info! I knew they are pricey, but over 3k is a new one for me!

It was one of those things where I have always wanted one in nickel (the whole set/series actually) but couldn't find one for sale. At least not one where I didn't think the owner was high! <-- figuratively and literally!
Also, I am more than likely going to have to shell out some serious coin on the rest of the derringer collection that I have a shot at getting.

It's not exactly a convenient time of year to be spending this much, but when else would I ever get the opportunity?

If you told me to replicate that situation again it would probably take me another 10 years lol.

Can't wait to get home and snap photos of its bigger brother I got today! That one I had to pay dearly for though...don't tell my wife ...

Yes, that’s a blue Handled V selector speeder ratchet!!! Been hunting for one for 6 years now! Plus at least 3 Proto LA tools, a Cornwell or two, a Western Auto Wrench (never see those in the Philadelphia region), and a bunch of others.

Billythekid1: Happens to ALL of us from time to time. I truly believe you can't become a good picker if you don't have a lot of rookie mistake and veteran oops! stories.

Swingpress: When you said you were going to buy that nickel-plated combat revolver's big bro, I thought you meant one with a 6-inch barrel!

Flea market yielded two very different socket sets today: an incomplete Long C Craftsman (H) set, and a HOL-SET MFG CORP hex-drive kit.

Believe it or not, I'm more enthralled with HOL-SET kit. It's kind of cool the way the whole thing is self-contained. It even has a hanging hook (that thing down near the drive end). If you look at the top of the speeder, it's round stock steel, but the last 10 or so inches has been machined as hex, the sockets are all hex (service openings, and drive), and the drive is hex drive. I haven't measure yet, but I am guessing 11/16". There's a funky attachment I can't figure out. An open socket (like inner drive) with a fork on it. Alloy Artifacts, which has a less complete example, says that an ad they've seen (but don't share) indicates that may be a valve lapper. But it doesn't look like any valve lapper attachments I've ever seen or owned. I'm going to clean it up, look to see if someone has already found and posted one on a thread somewhere, and post more photos for discussion.
