I stopped at my favorite pawn shop today and came home with these:

- Plomb WF-38 1/2" drive ratchet

- Western Giant 4270 1/2" drive ratchet (made by S-K)

- Craftsman BE 1/2" drive speeder with amber handles!

- Thorsen 77JC 3/8" drive ratchet

- Unknown 1/2" drive #49984 breaker bar (reminded me of 7/16" drive Blackhawk)

- Duro 2024 9/16" distributor wrench

- S-K 1/2" drive 2" extension

- Craftsman metric nut driver short set.

- Craftsman =V= metric DBE set

- Misc Craftsman BE and Circle-H sockets

- unmarked Proto/Plomb 1/2" drive universal adapter. It only has the part # and "Los Angeles" stamped on it

- Long-C Craftsman DOE and combo wrenches

- Williams flare nut/open end combo wrench

- Utica "loc-rite" flare nut/box end combo wrench

- P&C 4" adjustable wrench

And the pièce de résistance!

- Crescent 4"- 6" double ended adjustable wrench!

$60 for the pile plus another 6 Snap-on and Craftsman sockets I forgot to add to the photo.

Brian

Nice pile you got form the pawn especially the Cman speeder. Would never expect to find one of them at the pawn.

At this pawn shop, I'm not surprised. The owner deals almost exclusively in tools and firearms. The shop has a full time employee who manages most of the tool pricing and organization who is not as good at his job as he thinks he is. That double-ended Crescent wrench will sell for more on eBay than I paid for the whole pile, and yet this employee insisted he did his research and because it was rare "had to get $10 for it". OK :bounce::thumbup:

It is Blackhawk. The Nuggets (7/16-inch drive) handles all have 399** model numbers. Blackhawk 1/2-inch drive are all 499**. (And if you want to gnat's *** it, "Lock-On" 1/2-inch drive is all 4999X. Other, non "Lock-On", such as your hinge handle, is 4998X.)

Small haul today on Christmas Eve morning.

I needed the no name pocket clip screwdriver to complete an ignition set.

I was never really an “S” wrench collector, but as some of you may know I’ve got that little Mack “S” wrench set going, so now I go through them when I see them. This is not a Mack “S” wrench but it has a cool forge mark on it – an L inside a keystone symbol. (I’m from Pennsylvania.)

And I had to buy something green, so I ended up with the other thing. Anybody interested in guessing what it is before I say what it is? I will admit it’s actually not what I thought it was when I picked it up.

Hit up one of my favorite local consignment shops and found this 1964 wiring manual that had been on their shelves for a long time and got it for 1/2 off. So $5 plus tax. It covers all makes and models from 1964 and shows fuses and bulb/lamp types. It will make a great reference for all typical pre-electronics vehicle electrical systems.

No guesses? Okay, your future thread host will embarrass himself without company. :)

Full admission: this thing, marked "STEELCRAFT" on the shank, had me stumped at the flea market. I honestly thought it was an ingenious pencil sharpener! (And even now when I know what it is, I still think it would make an ingenious pencil sharpener!)

My first thought was a ratcheting screwdriver, but it's so toy-like cheap (so much so that a toy toolset tool was actually my second thought!), made with cheap materials, it can't weigh more than a few ounces, and I couldn't see any way the end would accommodate screwdriver bits, that I really couldn't bring myself to believe this was meant to be an actual ratcheting screwdriver.

So I had myself convinced that the idea was to put a pencil in the hole in the top and push the end of the ratcheting shaft against a desk a few times to turn the shavers that must be located inside the green wooden compartment. on me!

Turns out the painted wooden compartment with the little rotating lid is for the extra bits. The nub at the end screws off. I'm guessing you put the bit through the back end and screw it back on.

The coolest thing is that STEELCRAFT MFG CO was located in the "BRITISH GERMAN ZONE" (which I found on the shank when I got it home and cleaned up), created to aid in the reconstruction of the economy of occupied Germany after WWII.

See thumbnails.

Yes, that makes more sense. No reverse. Teeny tiny (resisting the urge to add toy) drill bits. Point is, it is a real tool. Not a very substantial one, but it is. (I still like my pencil sharpener idea!) :)

Thank you for that!

Yeah. I haven't had the best luck finding those.

This one has been hammered on - literally. But it seems to have held up just fine. I cleaned and lubed it and it works smoothly!

Nice! I was hoping you would show the logo.

Wishing all a very Merry Christmas

xmasxmasxmasxmasxmasxmasxmasxmasxmasxmas

I should be around tommorow, but anyway.

The neighbors have a party going right now. I can't remember ever seeing a Christmas Eve party on the front lawn. I was hoping to maybe see some fireworks tonight, they are for sale all over.

I've also never been to the flea market on Christmas Eve.

Had a pretty decent day there. Rounded this stuff up for 50 some dollars.

Down on my parents' farm in Virginia and decided to trek into the woods for some wall art. My folks bought this place back in 1989, and it had been an old farm for years, back to the '30s. Every old farm had a place where the junk gets dumped, and here it's in a ravine behind where my parent's built their barn.

I'd been back in there a few months ago...

...and found this forgotten gem.

This old Coca-Cola cooler is crushed and totally roached, but a metal cut-off blade freed the end panel for my garage wall.

As I was finishing up, my son says "Oh, there's another Coke sign over here." Huh?! Sure enough, the Boy had found something I'd missed.

That's a 1954 Vendorlator VMC 33 Coke machine. We may be coming back in the spring with shovels and the tractor to dig this gal out and see what's left of her!

Aannnnnd done! This should about do it for me for the rest of the year. Picked up this Delta scroll saw today with the original light and original Delta motor. Got tired of looking at it on Craigslist, it was posted for just over a month. Should clean up nice, and will make a nice addition to the Delta Band saw I picked up over the summer.

The listings for sales have been dismal the last few weeks, with no good prospects for this weekend yet. Too cold I guess. So, to get my year end fix I had to turn to eBay. :(

Paid more than I would have liked, but ended up with a 1963 dated SnapOn 1/4dr repair kit for a TM-70 ratchet w/ instructions.

The package arrived with a hole in it, but all the parts were still there, including the spring and ball bearing. Damn, that ball is small !
(the parts bag wasn't included, I added that after I taped the holes. just in case)

Bb: Nice salvage job!

When I read "ravine" and saw the cord, I was actually waiting for a steeper drop-off, thinking makeshift rope to pull something up! Yours is funnier! [emoji38]

Funny, that’s exactly what I was thinking.

Nice finds though.

BB - was the extension cord there to help you find your way back ? [emoji38]

Okay, ravine was probably overstating it. Gully would be closer. My Dad has filled in some of it with sawdust and manure from the barn.

It was nearly 200 feet back into the woods and down in the "gully" you couldn't see the barn. The cords were neon yellow and orange, so they did help us find our way back from the wilderness. :bounce:

I'll be thinking about that buried Coke machine all winter...

In other news, my parents also gave me a load of old Oak fence boards, about 350 feet of 1.5" x 6" rough cut, that have been sitting out in the paddock for about 15 years. I think I can salvage enough good wood to make an oak butcher block work surface for the workbench in my new garage.

Finally, the last free thing I got from my Christmas visit home is another cat. Ruby is the only animal I've seen that doesn't flee the room from the noise I make whenI'm watching Va Tech play football. It may be because she's a little deaf. Regardless, Ruby is a sweety who's recovering from a bad flea infestiation (hence the loss of hair) and she'll be one less mouth for my Mom to feed. SWMBO says we will officially have a clowder.

LOL, had to look that one up.

Noun. clowder (plural clowders) A group of cats.

http://www.todayifoundout.com/index.php/2011/07/a-group-of-cats-is-called-a-clowder/ says it could also be called a "clutter of cats". :p
