Did you use a coupon? Never use coupons. Place an order for each item. Place the order around noon so they’ll try to fulfill it before they go home.

I used a coupon and one order for all items with no issues.

Most stores will pull single orders with multiple items before single item orders, it's easier for them, so ordering in one order increases the chances of getting low-stock items,

Coupon usage doesn't matter, always use a coupon.

I usually order in the morning, but time of order doesn't seem to have any effect, in my experience.

A word to the wise about Lowes clearance and coupons. Place too many orders and you may end up "blacklisted"

About a year into a major home/garage remodel (i.e. $50k+ spent at Lowes) I was suddenly unable to place any online orders without getting an error code. I had placed at least a hundred online orders for "normal" house remodel stuff, but also clearance items for my remodel, including recessed cans, smart lightswitches, Nest smoke detectors, etc. I used a coupon almost every time.

My IP and all my devices now receive the error, even when using different wifi or cell networks. I've called Lowes customer service multiple times. The response even upon escalation is: "Can't help you. You must shop at a physical store."

Anyone else have this issue and successfully resolve it?

Pretty awesome way to thank a previously $50k/year customer.

A heads up that some Lowes are clearancing out select sizes of cedar lumber. It's possible they are switching suppliers. Prices vary greatly by store and region.

Recommend searching "cedar lumber" and checking the "Available for Pickup Today at" box to see prices at your local store. As usual, some stores have clearance-tagged to match online prices in store, but some prices may only be available for online order/instore pickup.

For example, 1x6x8s range from $.79-$24+ nationwide: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Common-1-i...875-in-x-5-5-in-x-8-ft-Cedar-Board/1000070207

Item # 493406 is starting to go on clearance in some stores. I found it about 33% off in one store that had stock but was full price in all the other stores. Amazon had a $25 off coupon so I wouldn't buy it unless its marked down a decent amount.

I have heard they ban the credit card, not the IP but that could be wrong. A friend of mine was banned online from one of the home improvement stores but could still use giftcards online. I try to spread the wealth of my orders between family members and usually spend only giftcards. I haven't had any issues so far

Lowe's has this LED night light for $1.92 if you select a store that doesn't have it in stock. In store it's as low as 50 cents. I think this was normally $10. Going for $8.32 on amazon.

SYLVANIA Gray/Silver LED Night Light
Item # 71125 Model # 36051

Thanks I'm going to grab one for my guest bedroom. Thanks again for all of the deals and advice. You've saved me hundreds!

This website is very interesting. You enter your order total and it will generate the best lowes coupon.

http://rextester.com/CDI8736

btw: if you want to run this in Python 3, you need to edit one line to say this:

print(str(stuff) + str((10 -(checkdigit % 10))%10))

I got it working in Python3 with just that one change.

ItsFriday,

Thanks for posting this website. As a former programmer, I like how there is documentation in the code and how fast it runs.

In my experience they've banned more than just credit cards. It is IP, my home address, my name, and any devices ever used over my IP, potentially through super cookies. VPN services over my IP also throw checkout errors.

I'm not a reseller. But I must have really pissed someone off.

Using gift cards for payment and limiting use of coupons are definitely practices to consider if you are an avid Lowes clearance follower.

**A word of warning about gift cards**

Anyone else experiencing this?

A store cancels or partially fills an online order which was paid for with gift cards. The store says the balance for any unfilled items will return to the original payment method. Sometimes this is stated by phone call, sometimes by an official Lowes cancellation email.

The balance does NOT return to the original gift card(s). Call store. They say the balance has been returned, but if they check more closely, the balance has actually been issued to a new mysterious merch card with a different 4 digit ending than the original gift card(s).

The mysterious merch card? No where to be found.

I realize it has been corporate policy (since 2015ish) to try to refund gift card purchases to merch credit. And until recently, it was common to receive a merch card with the balance for any unfilled items at order pickup.

Perhaps there has been a policy change with implementation of the new POS system?

Regardless, Lowes owes me quite a bit of money. In November 80% of my gift card orders with unfilled items were never refunded to me.

If you use gift cards, you may want to monitor your balances closely.

Amen brother - that is why I stay away from gift card purchases....worse than dealing with the dmv if your order is cancelled.

It used to be if you used a gift card for more than $20 they returned the money to your gift card. If the amount was under $20 you had to go to the store to get cash back. I have no idea what their policy is now as i dont use gift cards because of all the problems. if they wont give you your money back then talk to your state attorney general. Email the media. File a complaint with the better business bureau. I do it all the time.

I really wish I had read this earlier.. I bought $350 worth of cedar lumber earlier on gift cards. 162 total board at 1 store and of course they only had 22 in stock. I had them cancel both entire orders for the funds to "go back to the gift cards". In past experience, it took about 24hrs for the gc balance to reappear, I'm going to be watching this one closely. ***** that their inventor system is off that bad. 162->22 :(

That is a fraud alert on your account, has nothing to do with buying clearance or multiple orders. At some point there was suspicious activity and they flagged it as possible fraud.

Only way to resolve it is to talk to a manager at their fraud division who is willing to help. You may also want to call your credit card vendor, they may be driving the fraud alerts.

A lot of people in this thread would disagree with you.

Possibly, I guess there is one who disagrees. The facts are still the facts though, regardless of your opinions.

My guess is that the person who disagrees has not explored Lowes policy and practices and is just expressing unfounded opinion. The information I have posted is from personal experience and inside sources at Lowes.

Sounds like your local store is REALLY messed up - when I have used a gc and there was a refund, it was returned to the original gc.

Wish it was just my local store. Experienced this problem statewide, 80% of my November orders. Historically in my experience, the failure rate for correct gift card order refunds has been closer to 10%. Maybe my recent experience was just a fluke, but since it coincides with the POS system switchover, figured it was worth a heads up.

Thanks, I've tried calling corporate several times to no avail, but I'll try again soon. (Wanted to finish my main projects before calling more attention to myself, in case they tried to "ban" me from shoppping instore too, haha.)

If I'm ever successful in getting off the "blacklist" or get any more details as to what triggered it, I'll report back to this forum.

Inventory on cedar lumber is tricky at the moment. Many stores are getting new inventory (new supplier?) and the new boards have a different item# and UPC than the old ones. When employees check inventory, both products may be on the shelf, so it's anyone's guess which tag they scan for the count. Same for at checkout. As a result, the inventory count for a particular SKU can be way off.

I was able to cobble together enough clearance cedar for a 200' fence (at 90% off) but it took placing online orders at stores throughout the region (about half of which were cancelled) and visiting stores in person to check tags and inventory. Good luck!

For anyone looking for recessed lighting…

4” recessed housings are usually more expensive than 6” but look nicer IMO. Here are my favorite 4” for pricewatching. There are usually only a handful of stores nationwide with super discounted prices at any given time, but if you’re lucky enough to be be near a store with discounts, can pick them up for $1-5/can.

That is my experience as well... I actually had a few things I was returning without a receipt. I told her she could give me store credit as I had other things to buy. She handed me cash and told me since it was under $10 that's their policy... :dunno:

Bummer man. Closest discounts to you look to be up in Kansas City area. The discounts do rotate throughout the year, so if you're in it for the long game, might be worth checking periodically.

Or try this option:
https://www.lowes.com/pd/Halo-New-C...ht-Housing-Common-4-in-Actual-3-75-in/3370380

Joplin, MO
Van Buren, AR
N. Bentonville has 1 but might be inventory error.
Osage Beach, MO further out but slightly cheaper.

**These are often top stock. Sometimes if the store cancels for lack of inventory you can still find them in the rafters.

They were down to $39.06 . The employees had all of them. Other area store still above $200.
