Just an FYI. I have found that Special order returns are always heavily discounted.
I have found doors, appliances, windows, vanities often up to 90% off. There is no point posting those deals, because they can not be duplicated. Post if you want to gloat. We're happy for you. But, no point getting in a pi**ing contest.

Thanks, Thats my point exactly, the art of the deal is done face to face. I don't want to gloat, what purpose is that? I'm guilty of being excited over a tool I never thought I would have. If I stepped on someones ego I apologize. Its not a pi**ing contest if you have been insulted. Why should you doubt me? If you want the best deals from LOWES go to their clearance rack or aisle and talk to a Mang. Anyone that works for LOWES knows the best day to look for clearance items, SOS items just pop up and don't last long. A SOS clearance is rare, thats what you look for. ITsFriday, you don't have to refer to me as he or him or whatever. My name is Mike. PM me if there is a problem I will tell you the truth.(not looking to make enemies )

You are correct, this is a thread for Lowes deals. That item isnt sold in a lowes store. I've never seen that at a lowes store, and believe me I've been there a lot. He didnt post a picture of it at lowes, the lowes price sticker, or his receipt. There's really nothing about lowes in his post. He never even said the word "lowes" in any of his posts.

That's great he apparently found it for $30 at 1 store, but no one will be able to replicate that, and we have no proof he actually got this at lowes. I checked every lowes store and none have this for less than $400.

before we move on, because i know from past experience that you love to argue with anything that you didn't see for yourself...

lowe's still sells a proxxon drill press, not far fetched to say that maybe they had the mill quite a while ago and someone returned it after quite a while with a receipt, and they threw it on a clearance rack because they don't keep it in the system anymore.

back to the deals.

back to the deals.

I am not arguing with anyone. I just dont believe what I'm told without verification. yes I have bought stuff 90% off that was a special order returned to store. But usually you find those deals during the off times of the year.

For example, I found a fireplace mantel thing for $20 thats normally $275. I found it in July in Phoenix, when its normally over 100 degrees. No one wants to buy anything related to a fireplace when it's 100 degrees out, so I can understand why a store would knock the price down 90%.

Right now we are less than 2 weeks from xmas, one of the busiest times of years for Lowe's. It just seems hard to believe, for me, that 2 weeks before xmas Lowe's would make something normally $400 down to $30, when there's nothing wrong with it. Lowe's could mark something $400 down to $200, and it would probably sell out quick this time of year.

And for the record I posted several very good deals that no one replied to ;p I just found a really good deal looks like tonight or tomorrow ill have to do some driving. There's an item normally $120 for $20 at a lowes about 30 mins from me, might have to take a look.

I've also experienced SOS pricing that is too low for no good reason. I wonder if this depends on the manager marking down the price (some would put more thought into this than others) or if the computer system does some automatic thinking (and uses poor logic).

For example, last week I visited a Lowes that apparently had a pile of SOS returns in appliances that had been sitting in the back for over a year (the original order dates were written on the boxes). They put them on the floor and marked them down about 85% off. These were all brand new in the factory packaging. Why they thought they needed to mark them down that much (especially right now at Christmas) is anyone's guess. I bought 2 pieces and left the rest because I couldn't handle all of it right now. Pricing was random - $100 even for a top-of-the-line dishwasher, $299 even (each) for matching high-end laundry machines, etc.

Anyway, thanks for posting so many good deals. I just got a shipping email for the $2.50 contour gauge you posted. Should come in handy soon!

I've scored on several of your deals.

I didn't mention it cause there's too much chatter on this Hot Deal section as it is. And my local stores are managed by control freaks who view it as their personal piggie bank. Deals have been almost non-existent. Leaving me the shipping option (maybe) or the long drive option.

SO thank you ItsFriday!

The way it works is if someone orders something from Lowes.com, Lowes will go to a outside vendor to purchase. If all the cards fall right the vendor gets paid and Lowes gets paid. Sometimes I have noticed that customers will find a product at a different place cheaper(like amazon) and return their special order to lowes to get their money back. I get it. Now lowes has a shipping charge from the vendor and labor cost to get it to the cust. All this comes off the profit. Now lowes is left with a product that is not carried on the shelf. they are faced with several options, 1-sell it for full cost and make a place on the store shelf. Not going to happen because shelf space is very expensive. 2- get credit from the vendor and distroy it. This happens more that you think because it's less expensive to throw it away than ship it back to the vendor, remember every time it touches someones hands it cost money. 3-put it on a clearance rack and get as much for it as they can. This is where most of us come in, but sometimes the product goes clearance from the vendor, lowes has no choice but to recoup as much of their original $ as they can. They loose money. But its a numbers game they make more than they loose on other products that fill the space of the SOS clearance. Remember these stores are not always about 1 item. we do them a favor by cleaning house. The longer a item sits the less they make on both sides of the coin. Thats how I got my good deal it was a SOS clearance, they were just trying to clean house. ItsFriday I PMd ya. Mike

I bought one of the Dewalt 4 tool sets for $85 that I previously posted. I open the box, and it's obviously used :*(. One of the tools had some persons initials on it. The box had obviously been resealed - there was tape on top of a lowes sticker that had the item #. Looks like ill be returning this, what a bunch of ****.

For the past year ive' been tracking this. Months ago it was sold out at all lowes's near me except 1 store, which had 3 in stock. I assumed it was in the rafters somewhere or the price tag was wrong. A couple days ago the price dropped to $20 - normally its like $130. One of them sold so I was sure it was in stock. After about 30 mins searching the store I found both of them (they were in a BBQ display on the bottom shelf, you could only see it by walking in front of the display). The price tag incorrectly stated it was $116.95 ;)

All too common occurrence. At this point, I open and inspect anything that looks suspicious (that I plan on buying), right there on the floor. More often than not, they are returns that were put back out for sale. When buying faucets, I always cut the straps and inspect, before buying. They’re the worst. I’ve found completely different, cheaper models in the boxes, faucets missing pieces, faucets with extra pieces, used, beat up faucets.... All of these were strapped up liked they were fresh from the factory. Seen it a few times with tool sets as well. I did have to return a garage door opener to HD the other day. Everything was still brand new in the little baggies, except someone had switched the motor for a used one and returned it.

Man, wish you posted this a week ago! I drove right by the N. Little Rock store on my way to Southern Arkansas for the weekend... I would have grabbed them for sure!

Regardless of the store I choose, I get a "This item is no longer available on Lowes.com." message. Bummer

Tell me about it.

Bought the Black Friday cabinet. After a while, got it home, open the box, the back panel and corner is all dented in.

The crazy part is, when I returned it to the store, the cashier did not even open the box to verify it was there.

With stores that take almost anything back and do not ask many questions, this is sometimes a risk you take.

The crazy part is, unless you saw the cashier print up an RTV sticker, it likely went right back on the floor for sale.

Lowes has a nasty habit of putting damaged and returned items back on the floor.
I returned a damaged microwave, went back to that Lowes a week later, and there it was back on the shelf. I told the person in appliances about it, she just shrugged and said we'll look into it. 2 weeks later, it's still there. I've also had numerous items that I purchased that you could tell were opened and obvious returns. Funny thing is, I have never had that happen at Home Depot.

I wrote a Python script thats only 50 lines long. It gets the store price of something at all lowes stores nationwide in only 6 minutes. Works even if the item is no longer on lowes website. It's limited though, only gets the store and price. Would anyone want it? I'm thinking of publishing it somewhere. The best thing is it doesnt use a browser, so you can browse the web without it lagging you.

I would love that tool. How did you even go about writing that script? lol. Do you program for a living?

Yes This happens, you must understand the magnitude of returns Lowes gets, am I condoning this, no. A couple of years ago we had a district manager tell all his store mang. "TELL YOUR PEOPLE NEVER SAY NO TO ANY RETURNS" I think what he meant to say was never say the word "no". Think of it like this if you had a job were people bitched at you all day, you would get tired of it to, there is a big turnover of help in CS. The cust. service girls took it literal and returned anything (and still do). People will do the strangest things to rip off a store. I have seen blister packs that were hot glues back together, you can go in and buy the same tape we use to retape boxes after we check to make sure all is correct, and Iv'e seen bricks, rocks, anything with weight back instead of product. On the floor we wouldn't know unless we open it up, then no-one buys it because its be opened. People will return the weirdest things. I have seen someone return .10 worth of washers and spend $1 in gas to do it. I have seen CS return HD Wallmart Sears merchandise. Sometimes I spend half my day putting back cart loads of returns. 4 or 5 times a day I run up on someone who is opening a box in the aisle, and thats just the ones we catch. Thats why you see boxes on the shelf that look open. HD has tightened up their return policy, Lowes should follow their example, but sometimes Corp. can't see past their nose. We use to have a lot of help, HD cut their workforce, now Lowes is doing the same. Our stores were cleaner and well stocked. Now you have PT people who don't know what they are doing, and P**ed off FT who are overworked. Sorry about the rant but I though you men should know.

Kobalt 12" dual bevel sliding miter saw down to $199 from $299....

I bought the $99 7-1/4 a couple weeks ago to take a few items off my wife's pinterest honey-do list. Unfortunately the list continues to grow.

I added (4) carpenters pencils to make it a flat $200 and stacked a $40 off $200 coupon, making it $160 for a 12" dual bevel slider.

FWIW, the reviews say the laser guide is incredibly inaccurate out of the box, BUT, it is adjustable.
